Oldest Humanitarian Organisation?

[edit]

The claim that the ICRC is the world's oldest humanitarian organisation is debatable. The Sovereign Order of Malta, established over 900 years ago as the Order of St. John of Jerusalem, has an unbroken tradition of hospitaller activities, continuing to this day. Even in its modern guise under international law, it was recognized at the Congress of Verona of 1822, and since 1834 headquartered in Palazzo Malta in Rome. It therefore pre-dates the ICRC. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.45.79.157 (talk) 22:46, 8 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Development charity?

[edit]

There is a category of Development charities, but no article Development charity. I redirected it to here for now, but there should either be a more suitable place to redirect it, or a separate article should be started. --Singkong2005 talk 14:05, 27 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

more aid agency

[edit]

Hello

I would remind you that there are more types of aid organizations exist, then you mention. I think of organizations such as the ANWB, ADAC or AA.

These organizations have an emergency center where members can call if they are in a precarious position.

They put helicopters in order to find the member in need.

And organize special flights back to the homeland, for injured people.

One example is the gypsum flights organized in the Netherlands, Belgium and duitsland.http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gipsvlucht

Another example is the umbrella flights especially for people who become ill during the summer holiday and return home urgently moeten.http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parasolvlucht

I hope the article expanding
