This whole article is full of advertising with stuff like "innovative technology", "popularly known as the two-mode hybrid system" (bullshit nobody knows it like anything) and " The result is that the car always uses the available power resources in the most efficient possible way, whatever speed it is travelling at." — Preceding unsigned comment added by 188.29.164.82 (talk) 05:18, 16 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

the description sounds like an advertisement. I don't think "head turning style" is an objective characteristic of a coupe. someone should reword the contents of those parenthesis to better define the style elements of the car that are borrowed from coupes. A minor grammatical error but still of importance, the BMW 4.4L TT V8 is not the first V8 to employ twin turbochargers between between the cylinder banks. Ford employed this same method on twin turbocharged Formula/Indy V8 engines in the late 1960's and early 1970's. I'm changing the statement to read "first production V8" which is in fact the correct description.Syr74 (talk) 03:46, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"All-weather ability"?

[edit]

What is that supposed to mean? Are there any BMW models infamous for their inability to be used in glaring sunshine? Or ones that BMW recommends against driving in the rain? Pretty much all cars since the invention of the tonneau cover a hundred years ago are able to be used in all weathers, AFAICT, so that sounds like one heck of an empty marketing slogan.--CRConrad (talk) 20:40, 5 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:'09 BMW Concept X6.jpg

[edit]

Image:'09 BMW Concept X6.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I have just added archive links to one external link on BMW X6. Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add {{cbignore}} after the link to keep me from modifying it. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}} to keep me off the page altogether. I made the following changes:

Protecting This Page

[edit]

This article became a source of misinformation regarding the designer of the E71 X6, when this entry was made on 9 September 2017 with no sources provided and went unnoticed/unchallenged for over 2 1/2 years .
If changes like that keep happening, I would like to know if anyone favors a request for page protection. It is very unsettling how I never noticed myself this nor did anyone else, to the point an idiot attempted to counteract (elsewhere) my recollection of X6 coming into reality over 15 years ago, with the dumb implication some "Aman Chikkara" designed the E71. Having never heard that name in my life and actually have dined with the designer of both E70 X5 and E71 X6, I started thinking I was losing my sanity, so I did a quick search and turned out it was some vandalism. @Guiletheme:@Toasted Meter:@1292simon: what do you think about this? Simple vandalism like this is what concerns me, when it becomes a source to rely on for the greater public-at-large and then circles itself back to me in this kind of manner. One really tries, but it feels like it's not worth the trouble if the quality of the info is not maintained.Carmaker1 (talk) 09:56, 25 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Carmaker1: The link wasn't working because of a bad character. Changed it. And yes, this is why I have been begging for years to require IPs to register. As it is, there is no recourse for vandalism, and no way of communicating with IPs who might make mostly good edits.  Mr.choppers | ✎  17:52, 25 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your input, as I favor the idea greatly. I just wonder why that they haven't given it serious consideration at all, unless TPTB feel that IP editing gives everyone and their mother a chance. The website has expanded upon its earliest days and needs to abandon this relic of unregistered editing. I think that it doesn't deprive anyone of editing, provided they can still register, so why hold onto that? Even though working from home, I'm still very busy, but I want to know for guidance if you've tried anything in your capacity to propose a shift from unregistered IPs to registered users only encyc.-wide or perhaps, just automotive project? Thanks for your participation.
You could try for pending changes protection, although the intensity of vandalism on this page might not be high enough. Toasted Meter (talk) 18:17, 25 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Unfortunately that might be true, as I even once struggled with a roster of larger scale disruptive edits to the Nissan Armada page a few years ago. It took two attempts to get it approved, because one admin just didn't care and pretty much implied automotive articles weren't that important to lift their finger and shift their mouse. When it became unbearable, someone else thankfully stepped in and ordered page protection. Thank you for your response and participation, as you gave a realistic outlook.
There have been discussions (I can't find them now) but there are a large number of absolutists who profess a belief that if we don't allow ip editing then WP will seize to be. I personally believe this may have been true when the encyclopedia was young, but WP is nowadays much more of a maintenance project. I catch ip vandalism that has been left up for ten years (it's often hard to catch) and that has then permeated mainstream articles and of course the countless mirror pages. I did find a template to be posted on ip talk pages, but it only really means anything if the IP is a Good Person: {{subst:Register}} . Best,  Mr.choppers | ✎  21:29, 25 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia:The benefits of requiring account creation on Wikipedia vs Wikipedia:The benefits of not requiring account creation on Wikipedia. As a confirmed dork I am also adding a userbox to my page.  Mr.choppers | ✎  21:31, 25 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I had forgotten to respond to this, but yes it would be ideal honestly for folks to register and in good faith, be given due credit for contributing.--Carmaker1 (talk) 02:20, 17 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hatch SUV

[edit]

— BMW X6 and AUDI Q8, which for some reason are called COUPE-LIKE SUVs, are actually FASTBACKS, since they do not have a protruding luggage compartment in the rear of the car. I.e. these are Hatch SUVs in a variation of the Fastback body. 5.101.20.158 (talk) 09:46, 17 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Sure, but read WP:OR and WP:RS before you go changing things around. Best,  Mr.choppers | ✎  12:27, 17 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
