Fair use rationale for Image:Logo FPC.GIF

[edit]

Image:Logo FPC.GIF is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Colombian Professional FootballColombian Primera A — Colombian Professional Football sounds too generic and little off. The title indicates that it is a general view of Football in Colombia rather than an article about the top division of Colombia. According to the rules on page 9, the top division is referred to as Primera A. Also, please refrain from moving it to Copa Mustang as that tournament name will be banned for 2010 as Colombian officials have prohibited tobacco companies from sponsoring football. FPC

[edit]

The name of Primera A is fake, because it is just to make a difference between first and second division. As the logo says, the tournament is truly called Fútbol Profesional Colombiano, or Copa Mustang for sponsorship reasons. Please move the page to the correct name. Greetings from Colombia.--Futbolero (talk) 04:03, 9 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Colombian Primera AFútbol Profesional Colombiano or Colombian League — The official name from 2010 is Liga Postobon, furthermore the correct name should be Colombian League of Fútbol Profesional Colombiano. In Colombia the championship is not known as Primera A, that is a mistake.

Official communicate from Dimayor: [1] it says in english:

"the names of the tournaments of the championships of categories A and B will be: The First Division will be named Liga Postobón, the Second Division will be named Torneo Postobón, meanwhile the U-18 tournament which is organized by the Colombian Football Federation will be known as Campeonato Postobón."

  • Oppose This article was moved only a couple months ago and the same argument still seems sounds. Fútbol Profesional Colombiano is not good because of WP:UE. It was moved for the translation Colombian Professional Footbal in the sept. move because the former was too generic. Colombian League is equally too generic. The current seems most appropriate.--Labattblueboy (talk) 02:53, 14 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment - The link you post refers to the top division as categoria A and Primera Division. So it does not directly support or favor the name Futbol Profesional Colombiano. The DIMAYOR "comunicado" seems to imply that Futbol Profesional Colombiano addresses both the first and second division of Colombian football but this wikipedia article is suppose to address the top division of Colombian football--MicroX (talk) 01:33, 17 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment It is a big mistake because in Colombia the championship is not known as Primera A, it is just an invention from Wikipedia misunderstanding the "comunicado". Better than Colombia Primera A is Colombia League because of the name of the tournament. Please look at sources like Futbolred.com, Golgolgol.net, or any news from colombian soccer. Colombian Primera A is a big mistake from this Wikipedia. Just take a look of the article in spanish. Also, Mr. MicroX (with all respect) is not colombian. I am colombian and I more knowledge about the topic. If you consider that Colombian Primera A is a correct title, you are making a big mistake. Is far away better Colombian League because there is no other relevant sports league in Colombia. Just ask or at least investigate the topics first. --Futbolero (talk) 08:25, 21 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It's entirely possible that the current title is not the best option, but you need to suggest a name that will not cause confusion with already established articles. I will have to disagree with your belief that the football league is the only relavent sport. The article Sport in Colombia demonstrates quite clearly a wide variety of sports leagues. --Labattblueboy (talk) 20:14, 21 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It's not a misunderstanding. The DIMAYOR website mentions Primera A and Primera B several times. Like I said before, DIMAYOR insists that Futbol Profesional Colombiano refers to both the top and second division. --MicroX (talk) 02:22, 22 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Answer

[edit]

I think the decision was made for the same people who does not know the colombian soccer. That is just unfair and properly from unknowledge. Nothing to do, go ahead with the mistake. --Futbolero (talk) 22:44, 28 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Junior de Barranquilla

[edit]

Regarding the recent edits involving the link to the club Junior in this and other similar articles/templates which are threatening to turn into an edit war, let's consider something: the links on this wiki have been shortened to "Junior" for several years, in several articles, and there hasn't been much of an issue about it until now that someone appears and decides to revert past contributions by others and edit them in such an adamant and reckless fashion without at least giving a reason for it. Also, the usage of Junior to refer to the club is just as acceptable and widely practised in Colombia as the usage of the longer names of Junior de Barranquilla and Atlético Junior, to which I should add that the latter name is not that widely used nowadays as more people are now referring to them as Junior de Barranquilla. I personally have no issue with "Atlético Junior" as the title of the wiki article on the club, but what I ask is that these conventions that have been used here for such a long time are respected in some way.
