Text and/or other creative content from this version of Emporium (antiquity) was copied or moved into Emporium (history) with [653498880 this edit]. The former page's history now serves to provide attribution for that content in the latter page, and it must not be deleted as long as the latter page exists.
The title should not be changed because some things exist as plurals and duals. The people looking for emporia such as Sais or Avaris, Alexandria or Buto or for that matter the chain of Aphrodite on the Red Sea; to include Elim and Elat won't find them under emporium. Emporia is the term used in the literature such as Michael Grants "Rise of the Greeks", or in the "Periplus of the Erythrian Sea" 12.187.95.57 (talk) 21:32, 20 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
In this diff (now banned) user Rktect added mention of a Phoenician emporium called Gadges. I (as a non-historian) can't find any city by that name. Is the name correct? Could Qart Hadasht (Cartagena, Spain) have been meant? It can't be Carthage (also Qart Hadasht), as that's already mentioned.
It should not be removed. I believe this is a reference to Cádiz, which the Phoenicians called Gadir or Agadir and the Romans called Gades. I went ahead and linked to the Cádiz article. --Jpbrenna (talk) 15:46, 26 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
