The problem is that the link you're adding isn't a usable source either. - MrOllie (talk) 23:59, 26 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Importance of toning highlights and balayaged hair

[edit]

Would like to add on to the article by adding toner to these steps are important and polished look. In order for toner to work, hair has to be pre-lightened or colored first. It is most commonly used for shades of blonde hair, but it can be beneficial for brunettes and redheads too. A hair toner is a product that helps you correct or personalize your color. It is used to add natural or more visible tones after a professional color treatment. That's not a WP:RS reliable source, so it can't be used. MrOllie (talk) 15:05, 29 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hair highlighting/lowlighting

[edit]

Adding in the difference between the chemicals used: Hair colorants come in two forms: oxidative (permanent) and non-oxidative (semi-permanent and temporary), in which the ingredients vary a lot. Hence, the manipulation mechanisms of different kinds of hair dyes are diverse. Permanent hair dyes bleach and add a new color to hair through the penetration of smaller dye precursors into the cortex and subsequent oxidation (Sourced from https://www.frontiersin.org/journals/medicine/articles/10.3389/fmed.2023.1139607/full) Jlopez8439 (talk) 22:46, 29 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Maintaining Health of Highlighted Hair

[edit]

The application of an acidic pH solution (an acidic hair care product decreasing the permeability of the hair cuticle) in the rinse immediately after use of the hair dye helped accelerate mild hair damage recovery. Additionally, accelerated restoration of the hair is possible if hair care products containing cationic surfactants such as stearalkonium chloride and cationic polymer, and conditioning agents such as protein are applied during the period of hair dyeing (Sourced https://www.frontiersin.org/journals/medicine/articles/10.3389/fmed.2023.1139607/full) Jlopez8439 (talk) 22:52, 29 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
