Bill Cosby routine
[edit]Our readers will be looking for this header. Bearian (talk) 18:45, 24 November 2014 (UTC)
Really? It's completely useless as it is now and probably isn't notable. Loads of comedians have done Bill Cosby bits and Hannibal Buress has done loads of bits, so why is this one notable? 81.104.217.234 (talk) 19:35, 12 March 2015 (UTC)
It's notable because he was the one to bring the story to prominence. 50.126.105.244 (talk) 03:47, 20 April 2015 (UTC)
Half of the links in this article is dead. Tovasor (talk) 00:06, 21 July 2015 (UTC)
The Bill Cosby Routine is the only reason I know about Hannibal Buress and is the only reason I came to this article and talk page. I'd say keep this section. 2600:1700:7A51:10B0:404F:2043:381B:4E1A (talk) 23:06, 27 March 2019 (UTC)

Add mention to Buress' "Handsome Rambler" podcast in the career section (started in October 2016). Reference: https://www.thefader.com/2016/10/20/hannibal-buresss-handsome-rambler-podcast TheSLEEVEmonkey (talk) 16:18, 2 April 2019 (UTC)
Fester's Feast
[edit]I can't find any evidence that Buress was ever in a movie called Fester's Feast, or that there's any movie by this name. Should this be deleted? Packer1028 (talk) 03:35, 15 May 2019 (UTC)
Hannibal Buress is a landlord
[edit]Not sure why this edit keeps being reverted aside from the lack of citation in previous edits. The edit I included in 923847076[1] links to this interview from the Chicago Tribune where Hannibal Buress mentioned that he is a landlord[2]
As Hannibal Buress recently has taken to social media to discuss his interests as a landlord (being against rent control[3], advocating for donations to a property owner association[4]), this should be included in his profile as this is (one of) his occupations. Is it considered "vandalism" to describe someone as a landlord when they've gone on record as one? Cmahns (talk) 17:57, 31 October 2019 (UTC)
- Cmahns, Hannibal Buress is a comedian. That's what he's notable for. If there is something of interest regarding his side hustle as a landlord, it certainly does not belong in the lead ahead of him being a comedian. What exactly do you want to add to the article? – Muboshgu (talk) 18:01, 31 October 2019 (UTC)
- Agree with Muboshgu, Just because it is true does not mean it is notable/significant. We shouldn't edit celebrities' pages every time they buy a new a property or make a new investment. Landlord certainly does not belong in the lede, yet alone as his first (and primary) occupation. Perhaps it belongs somewhere else in the article, like personal life, though I am speculative of that as well. Cerebral726 (talk) 18:07, 31 October 2019 (UTC)
- Muboshgu & Cerebral726 as this is an occupation of his, and he is making money from it, it should be mentioned on his page in his description and infobox as his occupation. There are other celebrities that have "side hustles" as you describe that have a similar treatment to this on Wikipedia.
- I admit the rank of the placement may have been a mistake on my part, however this isn't a recent comedic bit of his based on these recent twitter posts I linked, he has been a landlord for several years and has even incorporated it into his comedic material such as this podcast.[5] I feel there's more than enough of publicly available third party and first party accounts for this to be included on his page. Cmahns (talk) 18:16, 31 October 2019 (UTC)
- I'm not really sure who has a similarly insignificant investment that is raised to the level of occupation. Steve Carrell owns a general store in Massachusetts, should his lede say he is a general store manager? Stephen Colbert is a Sunday school teacher, should that be in his infobox as an occupation? People outside of his building do not note him as being a landlord. If he started buying up several buildings and this became a major part of his notoriety as a real estate mogul/landlord, then it would be added, but it is not notable enough for his infobox or his lede. I do, however, believe it is notable enough for his "Personal life" section. Cerebral726 (talk) 18:33, 31 October 2019 (UTC)
- Cerebral726, I believe Shaquille O'Neal owns a Papa John's franchise, based on the commercials I've been seeing on TV. We would not refer to him as a restauranteur. As for the subject of this article, yes, if he is indeed being public about his being a landlord and things about opposing rent control, we can include that in his personal life section. I haven't looked at the Chicago Tribune link yet. – Muboshgu (talk) 19:07, 31 October 2019 (UTC)

Multiple, multiple sources on this. It's not a one liner in a rag, it's the headline in multiple credible comedy/music/entertainment sources. At what point does it go from "protecting Wikipedia from unreliable sources / non-NPOV" and move into "I will project my own POV into this article"? He has been called a landlord in multiple outlets. He does not appear to deny the basic facts ("I had a building and there were tenants there"). He even claims to have incorporated it into his comedy, i.e. what he calls the Landlord Association joke.
