Inaccuracies?
[edit]I believe there are inaccuracies in this article. I have a small collection of old Indy phone books and R L Polk City Directories.
Here is what I've found:
October 1962 Indianapolis And Metropolitan Area Telephone Book from Indiana Bell Howard S Garns listed as an architect working in an office called 'Garns And Moore & Associates' located in the Knights of Pythia building. Dagget Naegele & Daggett Inc with offices at 567 Westfield Boulevard Wiley Geo listed but no work information is shown. Robt H Hindman listed but no work information is shown
Indianapolis and Suburban Telephone Directory October 1950 from Indiana Bell Howard S Garns listed as an architect working at the Knights of Pythia Building. The classified telephone directory (known by the modern name 'Yellow Pages') shows Howard S Garns under the heading 'Architects' with an office at the KofP building. The same section and heading shows Daggett Robert Frost & Associates with an address of 350 E Fall Creek Pkwy N Dr. There is a Wiley Geo and a Wiley Geo L listed but no work information given. Robt H Hindman listed but no work details.
R L Polk & Co's 1947 Indianapolis City Directory Howard S Garns is listed as a draftsman for Robert Daggett Robert Daggett's office is listed as 23 E Ohio (Hume-Mansur Building) Wiley Geo listed as an 'engineer' but other employment info shown. Robert H Hindman listed as a draftsman for Daggett.
Interestingly enough, the 1941 Polk's Directory lists Howard S Garns as an architect in the Pythia building sharing office space with J W Moore & Sons (construction engineers). It seems he may have been self employed...went to work for someone else...went back to self employment. Thus I will admit that my lack of data from '62-'67 could reveal that maybe Garns went back to work for Daggett. Of course, his entry in the 1943 Polk may explain him switching out of self-employment. His employer in 1943 is listed as the United States Army.
I realize I have a little bit of a gap in my data, but I believe that there is either an inaccuracy in the dates and/or places of employment or the article is written in such a way that a reader might think that Garns worked for Daggett in the same time frame that Wiley was a draftsman for Daggett. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Conanian (talk • contribs) 20:37, 28 May 2010 (UTC)
