Governor General ?

[edit]

Isn't the Governor General not admitted into the order until after his or her term ? This [1] would suggest otherwise Dowew 04:40, 27 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

New statutes

[edit]

Perhaps someone should write a new article reflecting the new composition of the Order... 202.89.152.147 23:39, 20 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ribbon

[edit]

Doesn't the ribbon's red, white, and black zigzag pattern resemble Nazi insignia? 173.88.246.138 (talk) 06:37, 8 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Not really? Not sure why you'd make that comment here Carolina2k22(talk)(edits) 01:03, 9 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Name

[edit]

Do we know if it will be renamed King's Service Order now that New Zealand has King on the throne? Master Editor 10 (talk) 16:50, 15 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

According to the DPMC website: The title of the Order recognises the fact that Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II is the first “Queen of New Zealand”. So it appears that the Order is named after a particular Queen, Elizabeth II, not for the reigning monarch in general, similar to the Royal Victorian Order, and thus the name of the Order would be expected to remain unchanged. Ok. Thank you. Master Editor 10 (talk) 03:29, 16 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Interesting. I wonder if it will end up being renamed to ensure no confusion with any other Queen. "Royal Elizabethan Order" or something like that. Thanks for the source. El Dubs (talk) 22:34, 19 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
"On 29 May 2023, the Prime Minister confirmed that the Queen’s Service Order and Queen’s Service Medal will be renamed in honour of King Charles III. A change of name to the King’s Service Order and King’s Service Medal will acknowledge the new monarch." [2] Peter Ormond 💬 16:49, 26 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

History

[edit]

Should there be a history section summarising the content on the DPMC website? Peter Ormond 💬 12:33, 23 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Sure. Paora (talk) 21:32, 23 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

List of recipients/companions

[edit]

Is anyone working on a list of recipients/companions similar to this List of knights and dames grand cross of the Royal Victorian Order appointed by Charles III? If not, I was going to give it a go. I previously made this, List of knights and dames grand cross of the Order of the Bath, and it turned out alright. Nford24 (PE121 Personnel Request Form) 22:31, 2 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
