Moscovia as a self-name
[edit]Various historians of the time mention Moscovia as a self-name. For example Antonio Possevino in 1582 spoke with tzar Ivan IV the Terrible. He later quoted tzar's words it in his book "Moscovia": "We received the Christian faith here in Muscovy at the same time you received it in Italy, and we have preserved it intact, whereas within the Roman Faith there are seventy faiths" (page 103). Karl Marx quote should be added
[edit]"The bloody mire of Mongolian slavery, not the rude glory of the Norman epoch, forms the cradle of Muscovy, and modern Russia is but a metamorphosis of Muscovy". Secret diplomatic history of the eighteenth century by Karl Marx. Edited by his Daughter Eleanor Marx Aveling.— London: Swan Sonnenschein & Co., Limited, Paternoster Square, 1899.— P.77.
