Here is the rationale for the edit I just made: most of the articles about current members of the Council are stubs, sometimes only one line long. The template was pretty much the only thing one could see on the page, which made it quite ugly. Obviously, the better solution would be to expand those articles, but I believe that making the template smaller helps. I tried to make it more compact, by deleting a few blank lines, and the as of 2007 part. The history of the template shows that when the Council was renewed, the template was updated within hours, so it seems safe to assume that it will stay up to date. Also, "current members as of 2007" seems strange.

I removed the image, because at 80 pixels, it was impossible to see what it was showing. I also listed the members in alphabetical order, because I didn't see the logic in the previous order. I could also understand listing them in chronological order of appointment, or by appointer (President of the Republic/President of the Senate/President of the Assembly). Template format

[edit]

Is there any particular reason (other than age) why this template has the form of a large, uncollapsible box rather than the usual {{navbox}}? It takes too much space and it looks bad in articles where there are other navboxes and succession boxes, such as Jacques Barrot and Valéry Giscard d'Estaing. After more than a year of no input, I have decided to adapt the template myself. I don't believe I have left anything out, but I'd be happy to discuss any details. Waltham, The Duke of 09:46, 31 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
