Rough Waters is a blues influenced rock band formed in 2006 in Berkeley, California by Elijah Fletcher (drums), Jesse Rosenthal and Henry Geller (guitar). In 2010, the group added Sam Fletcher (bass) to the group.
Rough Waters Biographical Information:
Henry Geller, Guitar: Henry Geller, 26, was born May 10th, 1984 in New York City and grew up surrounded by a plethora of blues icons - Eric Clapton, Ray Charles, BB King, Albert King and Stevie Ray Vaughan. His love and skill for music is apparent in his live shows where Henry gives his mentors a run for their money, jamming on his Fender Strat. With his solid skills and Hendrix like stage antics, a show with Henry Geller is not to be missed. Henry has played with: Bluestess Sista Monica, rock band The Sexy Magazines, and Santa Cruz locals Sean Kennedy and Junior Boogie, in addition to headlining his own shows with The Henry Geller Band. Henry has opened for such legends as Gladys Knight, Robert Cray, The Blind Boys of Alabama, and Etta James. He has enjoyed playing such clubs as The Troubador in Los Angeles, CA; The Fox Theatre in Redwood City, CA; Moe's Alley in Santa Cruz, CA and has participated in the the Lobster Festival, the Seaside Blues Festival and the Reno Nevada Blues Festival where he played in front of thousands.
Elijah Fletcher, Drums:
Elijah Fletcher was born May 9th, 1984 in Prescott, Az and has always had an extreme passion for music, he began playing drums at the early age of nine. Elijah grew up in Marin County where he and his brother would jam out to old grunge albums like "Pork Soda," "Out Come the Wolves," and "In Utero." In high school, Sam and Eli played for a prolific rockabilly group called the "Smokin' Roscoes." Together, they traveled throughout the Bay Area and played shows with the likes of, "Incubus," "NoFx," "The Reverend Horton Heat," and "AFI." After high school, Eli moved to Los Angeles in order to gain a greater knowledge of music at the Los Angeles Music Academy located in Pasadena. There, he went on to learn the art of percussion from some of the world's best drummers, such as Joe Porcaro, Ralph Humphrey and Mike Shapiro, but never would have gotten into the academy without the help and tutorship of Joshua Jones (a Berkeley icon). Josh showed Eli the ways of funk and soul as well as sticking techniques and what what it takes to make it-- a love for drums!
Upon Eli's return from L.A., he hooked up with Jesse Rosenthal and Beardsley Gammel, two distinguished guys who shared his thirst for music and entertainment. Together, they started a small group called "Albatross," and formed the heart of "Rough Waters," which didn't materialize for a few years. It wasn't until a long time friend and guitar guru Henry Geller moved to Berkeley from Santa Cruz that the band was complete.
Jesse Rosenthal, Guitar:
Jesse was born August 29th, 1986 in Oakland California and grew up in the east bay, went to school in Southern California and that's where he met Henry Geller and Beardsley Gammel. Jesse's influences range from, "Jimmi Hendrix," "Pink Floyd," "Miles Davis," and "Thin Lizzy," to many more.
