A few words about my name
[edit]As you must have already seen, my name is Dishita. Here is my name in a few more languages:
Hindi - दिशितऻ , Bengali - দিশিতা , Arabic - ديشيته , Chinese - 迭诗达 , Japanese - ディシタ
Most probably, you have never heard of my name. It's a rare name and was still rarer when I was named. So let's learn a bit about 'Dishita' (as a name) first. My name originated from the ancient Indian language Sanskrit. It means Focus, focused or someone who knows the direction based on the Sanskrit word Disha meaning 'direction'. This name is exclusively a girl name. If you would like to use this name, please let me know. Not because of any acknowledgement issues but rather because it would make me very happy to see someone else sharing the same name as me.
What am I interested in
[edit]- Music - I am highly interested in all forms of music (especially Indian classical music). I am also a vocal trainee and aspire to be successful vocalist. I pay close attention to song lyrics and interpretations (Hindi, Bengali or English). I might be found editing articles in this topic frequently.
- Biology - I am very passionate about all that is living (even though the dead are not any less interesting). You will often see me making small edits on biology articles in Wikipedia.
- English literature - I enjoy Shakespeare very much though from the romantic era Wordsworth, Keats and Jane Austen are my favorites. Other writers I especially like are Charles Dickens, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Anthony Hope, Rudyard Kipling and Roald Dahl. Since this topic has been covered quite well, my contributions in this topic are likely to remained confined to fixing typos and other minor edits.
- Photography - I love photography and hope to improve my skills in future.
- History - myths, legends and religious history interest me deeply. Development of human civilisations are also of interest. Again not having considerable knowledge in the area, my contributions in this topic are likely to remained confined to fixing typos and other minor edits.
- Linguistics - I can read and write three languages and am striving to learn my fourth language.
- Arts - I am an appraiser of all forms of art (paintings, sculptures, architectural arts, etc).
- Martial Arts - I love martial arts and hope to practice some one day. My favorite styles are Wing-Chun, Tai-Chi and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
- Crime - Murders, Kidnappings, etc are horrible and I by no means promote violence but me being quite strong at heart, tend not to be unnerved by these things. Studying and researching crime and criminals gives me an amazing approach of studying human psychology and motives.

Wikigoals
[edit]I am currently patrolling recent changes, trying to clear the backlog of Category:Orphaned articles from February 2009 and then will move on to next in order. I am also trying to review a Good article nomination and working on fixing up maintenance tags of articles whose issues have been fixed and yet the templates have not been removed. I am also making random required changes to any articles I drive by.
Anyone who is reading this page and understands Wikipedia's editing policies is also welcome to help.
