AIW

I subscribe to the philosophy that Wikipedia should be a fountain of information which is comprised of two crucial and fundamental bodies of information:

  • nodal articles which summarise what we, collectively, know about a subject
  • threads that link nodal articles, so as to assist users in piecing together the fragments of knowledge that have been compiled in nodal articles

The World Wide Web (WWW) directly alludes to this in that the WWW was always intended to be a web of information, where the threads of the web - the linkages between nodes - is explicitly paramount.
While not wishing to encourage or enable the creation of frivolous or commercial advertising or other info-junk, it is recognized that early versions of pages recently created may be short or lack detailed citations, they are often placeholders that provide a venue for other editors to contribute to and to set in motion the foundations for an emerging notable article. I say this from experience of having created a new article, typically something new, and then find that - within a few hours - some other user has deleted it, before I or others have a reasonable opportunity to expand and consolidate the article. I have also witnessed where deletion of redirects has essentially broken the threads that connect notable Wikipedia articles.

I also have an account Erkundigen, primarily for use on the German Wikipedia (someone else created an account called "Enquire" on that project).

If you are Enquire on de.wiki; I will be happy to give you Erkundigen, which is a fully unified Single User Logon (SUL) that is valid on ALL Wikimedia sites. Why? You can trade your single Wiki user account for a universal accound for ALL Wikimedia sites and I can then merge the Enquire account that you have now on de.wiki and make <enquire> into a fully unified Single User Logon (SUL). We both win, because we will both end-up with fully unified Single User Logon (SUL) accounts ... something neither of us have up till now.
