ArbCom 2023 Elections voter message
[edit]Hello! Voting in the 2023 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 11 December 2023. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
If you wish to participate in the 2023 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}}
to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:56, 28 November 2023 (UTC)
Repeated removal from Jan 6 attack
[edit]I noticed your recent removals. Just wanted to remind you that pipe bombs were involved, so the content is quite appropriate. Please don't remove it again. Feoffer (talk) 03:05, 25 January 2024 (UTC)
"January 6 United States Capitol attack" is a Contentious topics page as set forth by the Arbitration Committee. You are engaged in contentious editing and this could result in a possible block by any administrator. Your most recent removal of material without first gaining consensus is here. Please read the Contentious topics page to which I have provided a link. Also, read the Contentious topics tag on the talk page. And, please stop removing material without first discussing this removal on the talk page so that you can gain consensus. Thanks very much for your attention. ---Steve Quinn (talk) 07:02, 25 January 2024 (UTC)
- And who put the pipe bombs there? Oh, no one knows, right? It was staged, it was a setup! Amangiero (talk) 09:15, 25 January 2024 (UTC)
To respond to one of your edit summaries, I don’t give a damn about what the FBI says, they’re corrupt. Do you really believe an old lady holding a flag is a domestic terrorist? Come on now!

Part
[edit]That parameter is intended for cases where the article is about something that was part of a larger defined event, not for where it is an example of a genre of event. That content should instead be included in the type parameter. Please stop adding this in the incorrect place. Nikkimaria (talk) 03:27, 26 January 2024 (UTC)
- Lol, no. Amangiero (talk) 03:28, 26 January 2024 (UTC)
- Lol, yes. That's how the template is designed. Nikkimaria (talk) 03:29, 26 January 2024 (UTC)
- “Example of” isn’t how it works here. On Wikipedia, it’s “part of”. Wherever it says “part of mass/school shootings in the United States”, it was one. The template is correct. So leave it. Amangiero (talk) 04:44, 27 January 2024 (UTC)
- You don’t know how it works here, do you? Amangiero (talk) 04:51, 27 January 2024 (UTC)

- Then please use them correctly. Defining what the event was an example of is properly done in the type parameter; it shouldn't be repeated in the incorrect parameter. Nikkimaria (talk) 05:09, 27 January 2024 (UTC)
- WHY THE FUCK CAN’T YOU JUST LEAVE IT?! WHAT THE FUCK IS THE BIG DEAL?! WE DON’T NEED TO CHANGE HOW THE TEMPLATE WORKS! I LIKE THE TEMPLATE! SO LEAVE IT! Amangiero (talk) 05:12, 27 January 2024 (UTC)

- What you want to do with the template and how the template is designed are not the same thing. One of those two things needs to change - either you need to propose a change to the template, or you need to desist. Yelling and swearing doesn't change that and is more likely to end up with you getting blocked. Nikkimaria (talk) 05:14, 27 January 2024 (UTC)
- Well it’s fucking annoying! Nothing needs to change! It helps people! Amangiero (talk) 05:16, 27 January 2024 (UTC)
- Did you not read what @Nikkimaria just said? Philipnelson99 (talk) 05:17, 27 January 2024 (UTC)
- Dude! The template is fine! Just leave it alone! Amangiero (talk) 05:18, 27 January 2024 (UTC)

- (after ec) If you think your preferred usage helps people, go to the template talk page and get consensus for that to be the template's design. Nikkimaria (talk) 05:17, 27 January 2024 (UTC)
- I wish you’d get blocked already. Amangiero (talk) 05:19, 27 January 2024 (UTC)
- You've now got multiple people reverting your changes (courtesy ping Sideswipe9th), so unfortunately if you're not willing to seek consensus for your preferred design, you're likely to end up blocked yourself. Nikkimaria (talk) 05:20, 27 January 2024 (UTC)
- You know what, I GIVE UP!… FOR NOW! I’ll put those templates back, and you won’t know when, but I will! Amangiero (talk) 05:28, 27 January 2024 (UTC)
- Seriously tho, do you not have a life? Does your life consist of checking multiple Wikipedia pages for edits? Amangiero (talk) 05:31, 27 January 2024 (UTC)
- Does your life consist of adding incorrectly filled out templates to Wikipedia articles and then being defensive about it? Think about that before you question other people who are contributing to the good of Wikipedia and its readers whether they have a life. Largoplazo (talk) 05:41, 27 January 2024 (UTC)
- 98% of the templates were originally put there by other people… Amangiero (talk) 08:50, 27 January 2024 (UTC)
- So, fine, does your life consist of adding incorrect parameter values to templates other people added? The inaccuracy in my premise didn't invalidate my point. Largoplazo (talk) 11:26, 27 January 2024 (UTC)
- It’s been used for over a year, now suddenly several people are saying it’s “incorrect”. 🙄 Amangiero (talk) 11:34, 27 January 2024 (UTC)
- The amount of time that went by before someone noticed it has no bearing on whether it's correct. The documentation for the template didn't vaporize over the course of that time. What matters is that the documentation says it and that several people agree with its application. If you think "but I want to do it this way" outweighs that, well, they want to do it the other way, so don't they outweigh you following your own criterion? What you want doesn't count more than what other people want, does it? Largoplazo (talk) 12:00, 27 January 2024 (UTC)

- Amangiero you're using the
|partof=
parameter incorrectly. Per the template's documentation it's meant to be used fora violent campaign containing the civilian attack event described in the article
. Mass shootings in the United States while violent is not a type of campaign. With only a few exceptions they tend to be single one-off events carried out by a single or small number of perpetrators. Sideswipe9th (talk) 05:29, 27 January 2024 (UTC)- I’m using it incorrectly? 98% of them were originally put there by other people… Amangiero (talk) 08:49, 27 January 2024 (UTC)
- Compounding the error that other editors make is not a valid reason to make it yourself. As easily as you erroneously added the parameter, you could also have just removed it from the infoboxes where it should not have been. Or you could have started a discussion on the template's talk page, or at one of the relevant WikiProjects seeking to change the documentation for how the parameter is used, if you think that the documentation does not meet with actual use. . EvergreenFir (talk) 06:11, 27 January 2024 (UTC)- So reinstating the edits that she took away is somehow “disruptive editing”, and me showing my frustration is “harassment of other users”, you’re a joke! Amangiero (talk) 10:23, 29 January 2024 (UTC)
- And you didn’t even give me a warning! You just flat out banned me indefinitely! Absolutely ridiculous! Amangiero (talk) 10:25, 29 January 2024 (UTC)

- @Ponyo: or @Bbb23:, could you please use the CU tool on this account based on the above comment? EvergreenFir (talk) 06:04, 28 January 2024 (UTC)
