Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Hussain Muhammad Ershad, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Rangpur (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 12:09, 22 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

About Humayun Azad's page

[edit]

The reason you gave to remove my edit is silly. We don't care what Dr. Rafan Ahmed says about Humayun Azad, We care what a huge personality says about another. Wikipedia is neutral. You cannot only keep praises for one person, there should be correct information about a person and this is true that Humayun Azad has been austerely criticized in Bangladesh. Will you allow if I give a heading named 'Criticism'? The revealer (talk) 08:40, 21 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@The revealer:, again, who is Dr. Rafan Ahmed? Dead.rabbit (talk) 20:25, 21 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
We have no article on Rafan Ahmed, and you would need an independent WP:RS reference, not a page associated with Ahmed, to show that his criticism was notable.Dialectric (talk) 00:39, 22 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Dialectric: I checked out WP:RS and it says 'reliable' not 'famous'. And I am not opening a new page here, just giving a heading. The focus is on Humayun Azad, not Rafan Ahmed. Yes, it may be wrong which I wrote that he wrote a response to Azad, but it should be okay to give a heading 'Criticism' and write what type of criticism has happened in Bangladesh against him by various authors. The revealer (talk) 08:30, 22 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
http://rafanahmed.com is not an acceptable source per WP:RSSELF - it is written by or closely associated with Ahmed. If his criticism were covered in a national newspaper or book from an independent publisher, that could possibly be used as a source in this article.Dialectric (talk) 14:34, 22 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Dialectric: Okay, I get it, I understand my mistake. What I'm saying now is, can I give a heading named 'criticism' and write what various activists have written against Humayun Azad? I can give reference from independent publishers. The revealer (talk) 08:46, 23 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@The revealer:. Don't create a separate section titled "Criticism" or dedicated to unfavorable responses. Doing so would call undue attention to negative viewpoints. Criticism of an author's works can be presented integrated into the chronology of their biography, or in a neutrally titled section such as "Legacy" or "Response". See Anton Chekhov, Chinua Achebe, Ernest Hemingway, and Franz Kafka for good examples of how this is done.
Articles should present fairly, proportionately, and without editorial bias, all significant viewpoints. The majority view should be given the most prominence, space, and detail. Minority views should be given less emphasis, and fringe views, those held by extremely small minorities, don't belong in Wikipedia at all. Do not give criticisms undue weight. The essay "Criticsm" may help you understand why.
Everybody has an opinion. Wikipedia is interested in those of prominent experts in relevant fields. For literary criticism, the opinion of a professional book critic, such as Michiko Kakutani, for example, or a noteworthy professor of literature would be significant. The opinion of a non-notable professor in an unrelated field would require strong evidence in independent, reliable, published sources to be considered other than fringe. --Worldbruce (talk) 15:27, 23 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Worldbruce I created a section named 'Responses' and they removed it. Anyways, I see numerous wikipedia pages with headings 'Criticism'. What about those? The revealer (talk) 05:07, 24 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
You chose the right name for the section, but filled it only with negative views. Doing so does not fairly, proportionately, and without editorial bias represent all significant viewpoints. On top of giving the negative opinion undue weight, you used the opinion of someone with no relevant qualifications, and failed to show why readers should care what he thinks.
I'll venture that you don't see numerous featured articles (Wikipedia's best) with sections titled "Criticism". Many Wikipedia pages contain spelling and grammar errors. That doesn't mean you should use incorrect spelling and bad grammar. It just means there is much room for improvement. --Worldbruce (talk) 06:48, 24 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Worldbruce The whole page is filled up with positive stuff, so I tried to give something negative to make it neutral. And again, like the other two, you are targeting the same point. I said this before and am telling again that I understand my mistake and I won't give the same line again. Why do you keep attacking me on that? I understand. I also said that I can give reference from independent publishers. I don't know if that would be okay or not, but you all are there to check it out.
Zakir Naik, Ahmed Deedat, Ibn al-Haytham these have headings 'criticism' with many other pages. Wikipedia has a whole page Criticism of Religion and a lot of other criticism pages.
What you are saying is good and if it would be the case of every page then it would be better. — Preceding unsigned comment added by The revealer (talkcontribs) 04:22, 25 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello,

The Wikimedia Foundation is conducting a survey of Wikipedians to better understand what draws administrators to contribute to Wikipedia, and what affects administrator retention. We will use this research to improve experiences for Wikipedians, and address common problems and needs. We have identified you as a good candidate for this research, and would greatly appreciate your participation in this anonymous survey.

You do not have to be an Administrator to participate.

The survey should take around 10-15 minutes to complete. You may read more about the study on its Meta page and view its privacy statement .

Please find our contact on the project Meta page if you have any questions or concerns.

Kind Regards,

WMF Research Team
