Southern Luzon State University Rondalla today is divided into groups of ensemble namely the Laboratory Schools Rondalla which is composed of Junior and Senior High School students and Sinag Banahaw Cultural Troupe which is composed of different colleges of the university.
During the late 70’s the Southern Luzon Polytechnic College Rondalla was organized by Prof. TEODERICO C. COSEJO and from then on, they compete from the different contests including NAMCYA (a foundation that host a music competition to different musical instruments and dance). They won from there different contests that’s why the group was recognize all over the country because of its good music that they bring. Most of the members during that are now professionals. To wit, the members including Ms. Emelita N. Cada, Raggie Villenas, [1]and many more.
Year 2003, Mr. Cosejo organizes again the Rondalla both in Elementary and High School. It was again organize because he was given an extra load for this matter. It was Mr. Selwyn Mangahis who handled the group in High School and Mr. Antonio V. Romana in the Elementary. And up to now, Rondalla in SLPC now Southern Luzon State University still exists. The group was handled by different mentor like Ms. Joy Veluz and Mr. Renz Christian Merano.
Year 2012, February 22, the Rondalla joined the 11th Musikahan sa Tagum held at Tagum, Davao del Norte and won the 3rd Place for the Rondal-Awit Senior Category. December 6 and 7, they launched their first ever Major Concert dubbed as "Himig at Awit" held at the SLSU College of Allied Medicine's Auditorium with special guest such as the "Father and Daughter Solo Rondalla (Mr. Franie & Nikki Obmasa)" and "Ms. Catherine Lamar"
Year 2013, the Rondalla joined the NAMCYA Rondalla Competition-Category B held in the Cultural Center of the Philippines on November 22 and won 3rd Place. The group was trained with the help of “Mr. Joma Amorado”, a member of Sariaya Community Rondalla.
Year 2016, March, the Rondalla joined again the Musikahan Festival in Tagum , Davao del Norte and got 3rd Place for the Rondal-Awit Open Category. October, two of members of the ensemble, namely Johna Lou Dayapan and Aaron Metierre and Arcee Dean having their accompanist, qualified the Regional Qualification of NAMCYA held at Philippine Normal University.
At present the group is under the baton of Prof. El Doulos "ED" Chua. Prof. Chua handled the ensemble since 2011.
