Promotion of You Belong with Me

[edit]
Congratulations, Ippantekina! The article you nominated, You Belong with Me, has been promoted to featured status, recognizing it as one of the best articles on Wikipedia. The nomination discussion has been archived.
This is a rare accomplishment and you should be proud. If you would like, you may nominate it to appear on the Main page as Today's featured article. Keep up the great work! Cheers, Gog the Mild (talk) via FACBot (talk) 12:05, 19 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Congratulations, and thank you today for Wildest Dreams (Taylor Swift song), introduced: "... a song by Taylor Swift. Except that the music video was lambasted for featuring an all-white cast in Africa, the song is pretty good imo." --Gerda Arendt (talk) 07:53, 6 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Pictured on the Main page: Brian's Mozart family grand tour, my story today, and Mozart related to all three items of music on my talk: our 2023 concert, an opera in a theatre where a Mozart premiere took place, and those remembered, Martti Wallén, a bass, and Liana Isakadze, a violinist from Georgia, (whose article would be better with more details about her music-making). --Gerda Arendt (talk) 10:25, 9 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

My story today is - because of the anniversary of the premiere OTD in 1782 - about Die Entführung aus dem Serail, opera by Mozart, while yesterday's was - because of the TFA - about Les contes d'Hoffmann, opera by Offenbach, - so 3 times Mozart again if you click on "music" ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 12:03, 16 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

just a little heads up

[edit]

hi there! before i begin this message, thank you for helpIng me a bit on the article for you are in LOVE (even tho YOU nominated it foR deletion initially). just Wanted to let yOu know, i got a new dRaft for yet another 1989 song (being i wish you would), and i would liKe to see your remarks ON it. also, it might throW off the ft status of 1989, so I am thinKIng of uPgrading bad blood into a fEatureD artIcle. (i set up A peer review for that reason), so i would love to see any tips for improving it into one of the best articles the taylor swift fandom wikiproject has. thanks!

(also i hid a little something inside ;D) brachy08 (chat here lol) 11:43, 30 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Brachy0008: I'd love to help but I'm unsure if we have enough material for "I Wish You Would" per WP:NSONG. Lemme try. :) Ippantekina (talk) 08:12, 1 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
i’ve managed to dig up as much sources as i could. however, even if we could get it into mainspace, there is also another concern about the ft status (it would exceed the limit of GAs allowed for 1989 to be a FT)
my plan is to try to get the draft for i wish you would ready for GA nomiation, then improve bad blodd into a FA (to accomodate it) brachy08 (chat here lol) 08:24, 1 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
"I Wish You Would" being GA is enough to maintain 1989's Featured Topic status. Currently 1989 has 8 FAs, so maximum 16 articles in total can be included. Ippantekina (talk) 08:26, 1 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
oh ok brachy08 (chat here lol) 08:29, 1 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
following up on that convo (and all you had to do was stay being on wikipedia now), i think we can get every song on 1989 (taylor’s version) onto wikipedia. brachy08 (chat here lol) 04:00, 8 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'm OK with that as long as the articles satisfy such that 1989 remains a Featured Topic. I'm looking to promote "Bad Blood" to FA. I also think songs like "How You Get the Girl" or "I Know Places" might not have enough material for WP:GNG so let's keep them in draft first. Ippantekina (talk) 04:09, 8 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
i’m also looking for bad blood’s promotion to fa too! but, it’s best to get as many sources for these songs as possible. not certain about wonderland tho. brachy08 (chat here lol) 04:14, 8 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
for now, get bad blood to fa asap brachy08 (chat here lol) 10:07, 8 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
tbf I dont have that much time right now. Maybe hold back on creating the other articles? Ippantekina (talk) 14:02, 8 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
alr i guess. brachy08 (chat here lol) 01:34, 9 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, guys. Just wanted to inform about a development with the new supplementary nomination. The new songs for which articles have been created are as notable as "How You Get the Girl" and "I Know Places". With their addition to the topic, these two other songs not having articles forms a comprehensiveness gap. Perhaps, we could work out a reasonable timeframe as the grace period for the other two but the notability-granting event seems to have happened with the re-recording's release in October last year. New topic requests are declined when notable subjects within the scope do not have an article, and functionally this extends to already promoted topics as well.--NØ 08:39, 9 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@MaranoFan: thanks for flagging. I haven't looked through all available sources, but "How You Get the Girl" might get a long enough article while "I Know Places" is rather flakey. Regardless, I'll try to work on "Bad Blood" to get it to FA, if so the topic can include max. 18 articles in total and 9 of them are FA.. Ippantekina (talk) 02:38, 10 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Sales figures v Certifications

[edit]

If, a hypothetical example, the RIAA certifies something "5 times Platinum" it means it has been independently audited and verified as having sold 5 million copies.

So, where then would, a hypothetical "3,690,123" copies come from? It's an old, obsolete figure from BEFORE the later Certification. I can provide RS saying that, as an example, Thriller by Michael Jackson has sold ten million copies. But, of course, it has since exceeded that figure, and said lower sales figure is no longer true. It's a glimpse at what the sales figure used to be. It is not relevant now. It would be like calling George W. Bush the President of the USA. Yes, he was. And yes, I could link to thousands of then-current articles referring to him as the "current President of the USA". But, he obviously is not that any more. Every sales figure that is LOWER than the RIAA-certified number is obviously out-of-date. It once was true, but it is clearly no longer true. As such, it is not just confusing to see next to the ACTUAL CERTIFICATION. It is also just plain wrong.

Things get updated. Things change. What once was is now no more. 197.87.143.164 (talk) 15:02, 19 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
