I do not want to start an edit war on this page. Discussions on these military events should take place on the respective pages, not on this list. I share your POV, but I have been in edit wars with American apologists since October 2005, and have been working on this page almost as long.

Please see: Talk:List of United States foreign interventions since 1945 which I merged into List of United States military history events. The perspectives on these conflicts should be left to their respective talk pages, not discussed on this list. If we add long descriptions of each conflict, the list ceases to become a list. The nature of a list is very brief explanations.

ref tags

Hey, I just came behind you and edited your references on two pages, wikifying them using ref tags. I am really happy that you are adding so many references. I do not want to discourage all of your fabulous efforts.

In the future, although it is not necessary (but it saves me time), if you could get in the habit of using ref tags, that would be great. Please see: User:Travb for the common ref tags I use.

I need to convert several of the old references that people added on both the CIA and List of United States military history events to the new ref tag format.

On the huge CIA page, I rewrite the article in sections, adding the tags when I rewrite the sections with references.

I wrote / completely rewrote:

• CIA#Highly-illegal_activities
• CIA#Torture (except the Iraq section) and
• CIA#UFOs_and_Robertson_Panel yesterday.

In the interest of reaching agreement, if Kalsemar switches I don't want to be the sole holdout for this suggestion, and I'll switch to Political Violence by the United States, along the lines proposed by Travb. I think "US", as opposed to "American", because in this context "American" is not the precise term for designating the political entity known as the US gov't. We would have to disambiguate wars authorized by Congress, which could also be understood as political violence."

There is no need for the "last visited" info. I consider that a waste of wikipedia space. Some wikipedia nerd a long time ago probably thought that served a useful purpose. But hardly anyone who adds a lot of references uses it. Like me. It serves no purpose most of the time.

Combine the URL and title to make a clickable link. Like this:

Iran-Iraq War

To the best of my knowledge, Kenneth Timmerman does not say that Zbigniev Brzezinski met with Saddam Hussein one-to-one. He merely notes that Brzezinski, together with unnamed officials, met with King Hussein on the very same day that Saddam was due to meet with him. I have his book right in front of me. Please read the section U.S. foreknowledge and reaction to the conflict and examine the footnotes carefully. I included a lot of information on that page. Christopher Hitchens also says Brzezinski gave Saddam a "green light". When challenged to provide a reference for this assertion, he said that a Brzezinski aide had confirmed the story to him personally. And, as you correctly note, we have Alexander Haig's declassified memo, which seems pretty irrefutable to me. Dynablaster (talk) 21:09, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

Prioritizing

Alright, I'm tired of the back and forth on the talkpage, but I think prioritizing and responsible deletion might help the United States and terrorism page. Certain events (Guatemala, Nicaragua) are more well-documented and appropriate because there is a larger body of ppl who consider actions there facilitating/participating in terrorism. However, others, like Syria, Turkey, and Iraq seem to be pushing it more. I suggest re-evaluation and prioritizing, rather than mass deletion. Soxwon (talk) 00:42, 26 January 2010 (UTC)

Yes, it needs a lot of work, but there is plenty of high-quality scholarship on the subject, and I think it could eventually turn out very well. Unfortunately, there is a handful of editors who are endlessly arguing on the talk page, and contributing nothing, but several of them have dropped out. Hopefully the others will tire themselves out and leave soon as well. I've not been working on it much lately -- I've been focusing on other articles, and didn't have the time or energy to battle with the debate team. Question

Whatever are we going to do about this corporate attempt to take over Wikipedia? You recently called it making Wikapedia safe for children's bedtime stories and I recently called it the corporate fairytale, but we are both wrong. Children have no problem with grasping that the evil stepmother or the witch are crafty and have little interest in the well-being of the children. How are we going to make our articles free of corporate spin's attempt to suger-coat and minimize the negatives while promoting and maximizing the positives? It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. The WikiArte (Wiki Arte y Cultura Latinoamerica) edit-a-thon is a global campaign to improve Wikipedia's coverage of Latin American arts and culture and to counter geocultural systemic bias on Wikipedia. Featuring an opening Artists' Panel at 10am, with Sol Aramendi, Sharon Lee De La Cruz, and Marisa Morán Jahn, to be moderated by Rocío Aranda-Alvarado, curator at El Museo del Barrio. The Museum of Modern Art and Fundacion Cisneros/Colección Patricia Phelps de Cisneros are uniting with international allies to focus on the lives and works of Latin American artists, architects and designers. With keystone events scheduled for October 22 in New York City and other cities throughout the month (Mexico City, Buenos Aires, Caracas, & others), the campaign aims to further similar goals to Art+Feminism. Voting in the 2016 Arbitration Committee elections is open from Monday, 00:00, 21 November through Sunday, 23:59, 4 December to all unblocked users who have registered an account before Wednesday, 00:00, 28 October 2016 and have made at least 150 mainspace edits before Sunday, 00:00, 1 November 2016.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

On Saturday December 3, 2016, in conjunction with a global campaign, the Guggenheim will host its fifth Wikipedia edit-a-thon—or, #guggathon—to enhance Wikipedia's coverage of modern and contemporary artists from Greater China. The event will cap off Wikipedia Asian Month, an online campaign dedicated to augmenting Asian content on Wikipedia throughout November. New and experienced editors are welcome. The event will include a training session for participants who are new to Wikipedia, and Wikipedia specialists will be on hand to provide basic instruction and editing support. Editors are invited to view the exhibition Tales of Our Time following the event. The Guggenheim aims to raise awareness of the artists featured in the Tales of Our Time exhibition supported by The Robert H. N. Metropolitan Museum of Art Edit-a-thon (Nov 19) and global online Wikipedia Asian Art Month (Nov 1-30)

Sunday November 19, 10:30 am - 4:00pm: Metropolitan Museum of Art Edit-a-thon

The Wikipedia Asian Month Edit-a-thon @ The Met will be the Metropolitan Museum of Art's second edit-a-thon, hosted on Sunday November 19, 2017 in the Bonnie Sacerdote Classroom, Ruth and Harold D. Uris Center for Education (81st Street entrance) at The Met Fifth Avenue in New York City. Following the first Met edit-a-thon in May 2017, the museum is excited to work with Wikipedia Asian Month for the potential to seed new articles about Asian artworks, artwork types, and art traditions, from any part of Asia. These can be illustrated with thousands of its recently-released images of public domain artworks available for Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons from the museum’s collection spanning 5,000 years of art. The event is an opportunity for Wikimedia communities to engage The Met's diverse Asian collections onsite and remotely. ArbCom 2017 election voter message

Hello, NYCJosh. Voting in the 2017 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 10 December. All users who registered an account before Saturday, 28 October 2017, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Wednesday, 1 November 2017 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

I dont agree with Sir Joseph on much, but I think he is right here: you broke the 1RR on Water supply and sanitation in the Palestinian territories. Remember the 1RR rule for IP area says: If an edit is reverted by another editor, its original author may not restore it within 24 hours of the revert.

However, you were reverted by an IP, so you obviously cannot self revert. Just consider yourself warned....next time you brake the rule it is probably straight to WP:AE, (Yeah, the I/P area isn't easy....) Huldra (talk) 21:08, 12 February 2018 (UTC)

Per third bullet of ARBPIA, if an edit is reverted by another editor, its original author may not restore it within 24 hours of the first revert made to their edit. This was your first edit where you changed "right-wing sympathizer" for "Israeli terrorist", therefore you created that new content. You were supposed to wait at least 24 hours after my revert before reinserting your disputed content. But a mere 45 minutes later you restored it anyway. Revert yourself or I'll report you to AE. ACRI is not "focused on the Arab-Israeli conflict." It's focus is civil rights in Israel. Can you cite some WP source in support of your contention that the ACRI article is covered by the 24 hour rule?
