  • It's normal to feel a little overwhelmed, but don't worry if you don't understand everything at first—it's fine to edit using common sense.
  • If an edit you make is reverted, you can discuss the issue at the article's talk page. Be civil, and don't restore the edit unless there is consensus.
  • Always use edit summaries to explain your changes.
  • When adding new content to an article, always include a citation to a reliable source.
  • If you wish to edit about a subject with which you are affiliated, read our conflict of interest guide and disclose your connection.

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Tropical Storm Yun-yeung, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Aon. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Your GA nomination of Tropical Storm Yun-yeung

[edit]

Hi there, I'm pleased to inform you that I've begun reviewing the article Tropical Storm Yun-yeung you nominated for GA-status according to the criteria. This process may take up to 7 days. Feel free to contact me with any questions or comments you might have during this period. Message delivered by ChristieBot, on behalf of Hurricanehink -- Hurricanehink (talk) 22:41, 30 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry to let you know, but I had to fail the GAN for Tropical Storm Yun-yeung. The article is on the short side, and there were some basic problems that prevented me from passing it as a good article, namely the lack of local sources, and enough forms of impact justifying the notability for the storm. ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 06:38, 31 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Mr. Zumakpeh’s Biography

[edit]

The section I have added to Mr. Zumakpeh’s biography is accurate and sourced. Why do you keep reverting it? Josiah Nterful (talk) 03:12, 6 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Some of these sources have dubious quality. Additionally, as his assistant, you hae a conflict of interest and should refrain from editing the article. OhHaiMark (talk) 10:58, 6 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Let me reiterate that I am not his assistant and do not have a conflict of interest-nothing in the section I have added suggest that. My intension is simply to contribute to provide Wikipedia with accurate information about Mr. Zumakpeh; the initial information is not entirely true.
Again, every information I have put forth is true, and the sources (neutral sites) give a definitive explanation of same. The initial sources are not extraordinary.
People trust Wikipedia for reliable information, so it is imperative to furnish the site with accurate data. I think that should be our concern. Josiah Nterful (talk) 19:33, 6 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

How do you create an article?

[edit]

We joined around the same time, but I don’t know how to create an article. Can you tell me? LordKaiju4432 (talk) 02:28, 10 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@LordKaiju4432: You can create an article using the article wizard. It will guide you through the process. C F A 💬 17:47, 13 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Your page move request

[edit]

Please be aware that names of Wikipedia articles about places in the United States are governed by WP:USPLACE, which states that such names are typically in the form of "Place name, State name". The only exceptions currently allowed under that guideline are major cities for which the AP Stylebook specifically states that state names are not needed. Fort Myers, Florida, is not on that list of exceptions, and your move request was not non-controversial. Any exceptions to the USPLACE naming convention other than one using the AP Stylebook must receive consensus for the exception as the result of a sufficiently wide discussion. Donald Albury 20:00, 13 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hey there, you don't need to have your own draft space for that season. You're allowed, and in fact, encouraged to edit and expand the article! I would suggest that any non-named storms should go into one big "Other systems" section, which could include any JMA/JTWC/PAGASA/other depressions. It's going to be time consuming, but working on a season article is a very useful undertaking! I would consider the ultimate goal of the WPTC is to get every season article in every basin to good/featured article status. It'll take a while, one article at a time, so if you did this one, that would only be one of only 16 good typhoon season articles. Further, you could get the 1980 PTS to good topic status, since all of the storm articles that season are already GA's. ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 18:49, 15 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

So Dom wouldn't be listed only as a typhoon, because it's actually stronger than that, hence why the infobox lists "Very strong typhoon (JMA)". Does that make sense? ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 17:00, 21 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Well, the thing is that, turns out the JTWC actually held responsibility in the basin at that time, meaning I was trying to swap the template, which works by assuming that the JMA holds responsibility for the basin. However, if you see the edit which I just saved, it doesn't show the JMA modifier.[1] OhHaiMark (talk) 17:04, 21 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
So I don't think you should be swapping the template. The JMA is now the official RSMC, and has been for a while, so their database is the official historic record, as far back as it goes. You can and should include the JTWC winds in the infobox, but that is an American military department, and shouldn't be seen as some official weather agency. The English Wikipedia is not the American Wikipedia. It's important to cover international events as neutral as possible, which means deferring to the RSMC more often than not. ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 20:35, 21 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Your GA nomination of Tropical Storm Yun-yeung

[edit]

The article Tropical Storm Yun-yeung you nominated as a good article has failed ; see Talk:Tropical Storm Yun-yeung for reasons why the nomination failed. If or when these points have been taken care of, you may apply for a new nomination of the article. Message delivered by ChristieBot, on behalf of Hurricanehink -- Hurricanehink (talk) 06:44, 31 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

What happened?

[edit]

Hello, I noticed that you reverted my edit. I am an old school editor and back in my day we had the latest info for a hurricane. I mean if someone went to an article to find the latest info, they would be discouraged and go to the NHC for the latest information. Sorry if it is like "Old editor yells at cloud" thing, but that is what I am used to. Felicia (talk) 13:45, 6 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, due to an ANI thread, village dump thread, and this, it's now discouraged. Additionally, the former templates have also been deleted as they were a violation of WP:NOTNEWS and MOS:CURRENT. OhHaiMark (talk) 13:52, 6 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'll keep that in note. It will take me some adjusting. I won't make another mistake now that I know. Felicia (talk) 14:07, 6 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  1. ^ It does Very Strong Typhoon instead of Very Strong Typhoon (JMA).
