Thank for for "fattening" up the page I started. I didn't write so much, as I did not want anyone to think I was "promoting" or suchlike (even more so after I became an admin). I'm not sure about the implication that the 2 fires were somehow connected - I'll leave that to others to decide on suitability - as I'm now only reverting blatant vandalism on any page I have a COI on. (P.S. You forgot Avocado had a big fire when in Caton Road - which is why they moved to Heysham...). Personally, I lay the last fire as partly Clariant's fault - Lancaster had been asking for ages for sprinklers to be installed - always refused as it was not a legal requirement, unlike current site at Heysham where there are sprinklers everywhere, including a backup water supply. I'm sure if there had been sprinklers at the Newgate site then we would have just been mopping up.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 19:13, 9 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Did you really mean to delete all the images from this article? I have restored them, and also deleted the uncited section.--Peter I. Vardy (talk) 09:23, 12 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Manx Viking

[edit]

Ah! Thanks for your note about this. I haven't done much about the Manx boats after I ended up in a row over moving the "Lady of Mann"; so I'm glad about this one. And thanks for letting me know! Xyl 54 (talk) 23:42, 13 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Mona's Queen

[edit]

I have seen a source somewhere to say this, but I'm having great difficulty in finding it. It is definitely true though as she was sold with another vessel (no idea at all which one) for $4.7 million. Hope this helps - Cheers, JamesSteamPacket (talk) 11:10, 24 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm MichaelMaggs. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Montacute, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. MichaelMaggs (talk) 20:43, 28 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

You made a mistake
Kindly refrain from editing something you know little about.
Firstly by reverting the change about the hill you're simply perpetuating nonsense claiming that Mons Acutus / St Michaels hill was the Durotriges hill fort. It wasn't, Ham Hill was.
As for you yet again deleting the comments about village legend, there aren't any documents: oral history is exactly that. FWIW much of the page is based on oral history, undocumented. Most of the articles historic content in it's current form was written by me and RodW
I've been associated with the village for 65 years, so I think I know what I'm talking about Olddemdike (talk) 23:38, 28 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
