Genus-three surface[edit]

"I'm pretty sure those are projective planes, not genus-three surfaces." To see that they are orientable (and therefore not projective planes), observe that each identification of opposite edges maps the upper surface of the polygon to the upper surface. There's some justice in your ^{[citation needed]} tags, though. It's easy enough to find the Euler characteristic of these surfaces by triangulating them, and this together with their orientability shows that they are of orientable genus 3.
