  • It's about the Hatter. Tarrant Hightopp. He's a great friend of mine, and recently, he's convinced that his long-deceased family is still alive. Well, of course, his family can't really be alive because you see, the Jabberwocky killed the family on Horunvendush Day, and I killed the Jabberwocky on Frabjous Day, and I'd like your permission to please borrow the Chronosphere. It's imperative that… [Time: Ah. The Chronosphere.]
  • Hatter is my truest friend. If he's in need, I'll help him. No matter what. [The others cheer for her]

Iracebeth

  • Ignorant peasants.
  • The next person who laughs will never laugh again!
  • I hate you ALL!!!!!
  • NO ONE LOVES ME!!
  • Revenge is mine!
  • Oh, Alice, you always were an irksome, slurvish, interrupting thing. When I get back, I shall have the heads of all of your friends. And then I shall have your head. Ta-ta!
  • [as Mr. Hightopp tries to fit the crown on top of her head] Put it on my head. You're making me look stupid. Get on with it! You incompetent imbecile!
  • [madly pointing to Young Mirana] YOU'RE A LIAR! LIAR! YOU'RE LYING! [turns to rust]

Other

  • Absolem: You've been gone too long, Alice, and he will be gone before long.
  • Time: [German accent] Stupid me-shaped corridor.

Dialogue

[edit]
[After Alice falls from the sky and into a flower bed, her Underland friends surround and greet her]
Bayard: Alice.
McTwisp: [hops up to Alice and hugs her arm] Alice! Thank goodness you're finally here!
Thackery: It's that girl again!
Tweedledee: Alice! You're back!
[The Bandersnatch roars his greeting and pants, smiling at Alice]
Mally: [to the Bandersnatch] Don't be nice to her. She's late.
Alice: Have I come at a bad time?
Mirana: On the contrary. We were afraid you weren't coming at all.
Alice: What's the matter?
McTwisp: Hatter's the matter.
Tweedledee: Or the matter of Hatter.
Tweedledum: The former.
Tweedledee: No, the latter.
Mirana: [rolls her eyes] Tweedles. [gives them a look]
Tweedles: [in unison] He's mad.
Alice: Hatter? [the Tweedles nod] Yes, I know. [climbs out of the flower bed and pulls her hair back in a half-up style] That's his muchness. That's what makes him so...him.
Tweedledee: But he's grown darker. Less dafter.
Tweedledum: Denies himself laughter.
Chessur: [appears in the tree above them] And no scheme of ours can raise any sort of smile. We rather hoped you might help us save him.

Mirana: But, if anything can bring Hatter back, it would be seeing you again.
[The others nod in agreement]
Alice: Well, where is he?
[They all point at something as Thackery, with a finger pointed up, turns it to its correct way. They see a house shaped like a top hat on a cliff. Moments later, Alice approaches the house. She walks upstairs on the porch to the door, and knocks on it]
Hatter: [from inside] Go away! You can't come in.
Alice: Hatter, it's me. Alice.
Hatter: [opens the door, and gapes at her] Alice. You're you. And you're here. [they hug. He looks at her] You are you, aren't you? [touches Alice's face with his hands]
Alice: Yes, Hatter.
Hatter: [spins her around as if examining her body] Good. [looks around to see if the coast is clear] You're the only one. [takes Alice inside his house, shutting the door behind them] But you've always been Alice. And that's how I know you'll believe me.
Alice: I've missed you, Hatter.
Hatter: It's my family, Alice.
Alice: Your family?
Hatter: [leads Alice to a painting of his family] Yes. My family. Lost for many years. Or so I thought. Look. [shows Alice the blue paper hat he found in the flashback] I found this. The first hat I've ever made. I thought I'd tossed it away long, long ago. It's impossible for it to be here, and yet...here it is. So if this hat survived, my family must've, too.
Alice: But, Hatter, that's...
Hatter: [cuts her off] I thought I wasn't worthy of the Hightopp name. A very serious man, my father. We had a terrible fight. I never said I was sorry when I had the chance. But this means I can make things right.
Alice: Hatter. Your family, uh...
Hatter: You do believe me, don't you, Alice?
Alice: I want to. I... [as his orange curly hair turns pale, Hatter sits in a chair. She sits in another one to face him] Hatter! You're not well. What can I do?
Hatter: [his eyes widen as he holds a finger up as if having an idea] Of course. My Alice...could bring my family back to me.
Alice: Oh, but...Hatter, the thing is...your family died. Long ago. You told me so yourself. No one can bring them back.
Hatter: No one but you?
Alice: I'm sorry. But it's...It's impossible.
[Hatter closes his eyes, then snaps them open with a dark glint. Alice looks shocked]
Hatter: You...are not you. [grabs Alice by her arm. He takes her back to the door where they've started and opens it]
Alice: Hatter, please.
Hatter: Get out. [pushes her outside the porch] I don't know who you are. [Alice looks wide-eyed] You're not my Alice. My Alice would believe me.
[Alice wears a hurtful expression. With a heartbroken glare, Hatter shuts the door in her face]
Alice: [tries to get Hatter's attention by knocking on the door] Hatter! [from her point of view through the window, Hatter walks away from the door while coughing and wheezing] Hatter, please! Please! [Hatter ignores her, who hangs her head dejectively, as he walks off. Moments later, she runs back to Mirana and the others] We must do something! He's so terribly ill. I fear he's...dying.
[They're all shocked]
McTwisp: Oh, dear. Oh, dear. Oh, dear.
Bayard: No.
Mally: We can't lose him, Alice. We can't.
Alice: He said to make him feel better, I must bring his family back. But that...can't be.

[Wilkins hears the sound of a trumpet]
Time: Wilkins!
Wilkins: Yes, sir?
Time: She's here! My liebchen is here!
Wilkins: Coming, sir! [as he runs off, Alice watches him. Elsewhere, a silhouetted figure steps through a door underneath a giant red heart-shaped entrance. At the Grand Clock of All Time, he gathers the Seconds] Hurry! Quick! Alright. Here we go. Seconds out! Seconds out! [through a corridor, Alice sees a shadow with a heart-shaped hairdo. Wilkins and the Seconds approach, bumping into each other from behind] Oh. Ah! Get back. Stay in line. Stay in line! Ahem! Your Highness.
Iracebeth: Your Majesty!
Wilkins: Majesty. My lord is expecting you in the parlor. Shall I announce you?
Iracebeth: Oh, no mind! I'll announce myself. [the figure from the entrance, which is actually Iracebeth, the Red Queen, blows her trumpet] Tick Tock, where are you? Tick Tock, where are you? [behind her, a vegetable humanoid-like creature lifts her cape as she walks to find Time with Wilkins and his friends following her as Alice watches. In the parlor, Time checks his breath] Tick Tock!
Time: Coming, my love!

King Oleron: [gets up from his throne, stopping Iracebeth's rage ranting] Iracebeth, enough! Iracebeth, I had always hoped that you would one day show the necessary qualities to become the queen you were born to be. I realize now that day will never come. [to the crowd] People of Witzend, upon my death, my crown will pass...to the Princess Mirana.
Mirana: [gets up from her seat] Father, no.
Iracebeth: But that's not fair! I'm the eldest!
King Oleron: You are unfit to rule, Iracebeth.
Iracebeth: [enraged] I hate you. I hate you ALL!!!!! [her head swells up a bit and she starts to walk away but stops and storms over to the Hightopp family; vengefully] Oh! And I shall not ever forget you, you sniggering Hightopps! No, I shall wreak a terrible revenge! [turns away] Vile. Slow.
Mirana: Racie.
Iracebeth: Oh, don't "Racie" me! You started it! [walks a little closer to her; whispering] Why don't you tell them the truth? [Miriam doesn't respond] Didn't think so. [turns away and walks up the stairs; bawling] No one loves me! NO ONE LOVES ME!

Mr. Hightopp: You cost the princess her crown! Do you know what this means to us?
Hatter: Why am I never good enough for you?
Mr. Hightopp: Why are you always such a disappointment to me?

Young Mirana: You're eating all the tarts.
Young Iracebeth: You can have the crusts.
Young Mirana: [pouting] I don't want the crusts!
Queen Elsemere: If you can't get along, there'll be no more tarts for either of you. Now out of my kitchen. [claps her hands] Scat!

Queen Elsemere: [enters Iracebeth and Mirana's room, roping in Young Mirana by the hand] What did I tell you two? No more tarts.
Young Iracebeth: [honestly] I didn't eat any tarts.
Queen Elsemere: [looks down and notices the tart crusts under Young Iracebeth's bed] Why are these crusts under your bed?
Young Iracebeth: [gesturing to her sister] She put them there.
Queen Elsemere: Did you, Mirana?
Young Iracebeth: You did. Tell her!
Queen Elsemere: Tell the truth, Mirana. Did you eat the tarts and put the crusts there?
[Young Iracebeth gives her sister a "Well?" look on her face during a brief moment]
Young Mirana: [shaking her head] No.
Young Iracebeth: But you did! You're lying.
Queen Elsemere: The tarts are under your bed. Don't blame your sister.

Iracebeth: [after successfully capturing the Hightopp family] Revenge is mine.
Alice: [shocked] She took them!

[Iracebeth drags Mirana to the past on the night her younger self unfairly took the blame for eating the tarts and putting the crusts under her bed before running out and hit her head]
Mirana: Where are we?
Iracebeth: You know where we are.
[They stop outside of their old room, hearing their mother confronting their younger selves]
Queen Elsemere: Why are these crusts under your bed?
Young Iracebeth: She put them there.
Queen Elsemere: Did you, Mirana?
Iracebeth: [whispering] Did you, Mirana?
Young Iracebeth: You did. Tell her!
Queen Elsemere: Tell the truth, Mirana. Did you eat the tarts and put the crusts there?
Both Miranas: No.
Mirana: Racie, no!
Iracebeth: [bursts the door open and points to Young Mirana, savagely] YOU'RE A LIAR! LIAR! YOU'RE LYING!!! [turns to rust]
[Young Iracebeth screams in horror and also turns to rust]
