Usage notes

  • In North Korea, the digraph is called 된디읃 (doendieut, “strong (d)”). In South Korea, it is called 쌍디귿 (そう, ssangdigeut, “doubled (d)”).
  • In Dongguk Jeong'un (東國とうごくせいいん), this letter was used to transcribe voiced alveolar plosive ([d]) of Middle Chinese.
