Czech (female) allomorph of the surname Lewinsky that came from a Slavic language (probably Polish or Russian), which added a patronymic suffix to the ultimately Hebrew root לוי (leví, priest), an occupational surname. Compare Russian Левински (Levinski) or Russian Левинский (Levinskij).
