Proto-Turkic
[edit]Etymology
[edit]Probably a diminutive form of an unknown root; *bur + *-čak. However, compare *bür (“bud, leaf”) and its derivative *bürtük (“grain”) for a similar semantic and morphological parallel. (This etymology is missing or incomplete. Please add to it, or discuss it at the Etymology scriptorium.)
