Pronunciation differs from notation (seemingly)

[edit]

The recording for the pronunciation of 摔 sounds as having the third tone to me, but the Pinyin spelling indicates first tone (shuāi). What could explain this (perceived) difference?Redav (talk) 20:57, 1 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Examples

[edit]

@Mar vin kaiser Please do not take examples wholesale from sources without attribution (e.g. たいねむりゆか摔落ぬり跤, 玻璃はり摔落ぬり跤,就去りょうりょう矣); this would be a copyvio. Also, don't mix up {{zh-co}} and {{zh-x}}; the former is for collocations, while the latter is for longer examples. — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 07:49, 24 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Justinrleung: Noted on lifting examples. I'll change some words. Also, I thought "zh-co" was for phrases, and "zh-x" was for sentences? --Mar vin kaiser (talk) 08:19, 24 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Mar vin kaiser: That's basically right, but I see several uses of {{zh-co}} for things that end with a period in your edits here. — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 08:21, 24 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Mar vin kaiser: Also, it would be best to not just change a few words but come up with your own examples. Otherwise, it still feels too much like the sources; in that case, might as well just quote the dictionaries (with attribution). However, the ideal situation would be to find actual examples "in the wild". — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 08:33, 24 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
