This template shows a small box with a link to a Proto-Indo-European word, and categorises the entry in a subcategory of Category:Terms derived from Proto-Indo-European words). It should be placed at the top of the Etymology section, before the text.
This template should only be used for PIE words that have no associated root: for instance, the pronoun *swé. For PIE words that derive from a root, give the root with {{root|lang|ine-pro}}
. For instance, entries for words deriving from the PIE word *ǵénh₁os should have {{root|lang|ine-pro|*ǵenh₁-}}
.
