Borrowed from Old Czech dratva, from Middle High German drāt, from Old High German drāt, thrāt, from Proto-Germanic *þrēduz, from Proto-Indo-European *treh₁-tu-, from *terh₁-. Doublet of drut. Compare Slovak dratva, Hungarian drót.
