    • 2013, Rodman Philbrick, The Last Book in the Universe:
I'm standing there like a googan with the rain running down the back of my neck. My insides feel as hollow as those stupid empty cans, like I'm going pip! pip! pip! inside because I was so scared.
    • 2019 August 20, Alycia Downs, “Don't Be a Googan: The Unwritten Rules of Boating”, in MeatEater[1]:
Now, let’s be clear: no one has to be a googan. Through simple due diligence and willingness to learn, anyone can be a competent, safe, and courteous boater both on and off the water.
