Expert points of view on current events

“FP’s greatest value is its informed, expert analysis of events and issues in the news and on the public agenda. As a reader of FP, I am a more informed and discerning consumer of the daily news.”

—Ernie R., Senior Fellow in Defence and Arctic Security, The Simons Foundation Canada

“I subscribe to FP because I want to feel connected to global perspectives. Growing up in Denmark, our news contained ample international perspectives: We understood that our local experience would invariably be impacted by situations in the world beyond our borders. FP provides that understanding and helps me see what will impact the U.S. and the rest of our world.”

—Connie Nielsen, Actor/humanitarian

Our Mission

A global affairs magazine founded in 1970, FP’s editors set out to create a platform for alternative views about American foreign policy in a way that was “serious but not scholarly, lively but not glib.” Today, FP continues to be serious, lively, and non-partisan but also global in outlook, drawing on a team of in-house reporters as well as the insights of experts and practitioners of foreign policy. Our mission is to be the forum for informed debate about geopolitics from around the world.
