Հեծելազորը Փարիզի փողոցներում Ֆրանսիայի 1851 թվականի հեղաշրջման ժամանակ, երբ դեմոկրատական ճանապարհով ընտրված նախագահ Լուի-Նապոլեոն Բոնապարտը բռնապետությամբ գրավեց իշխանությունը, և մեկ տարի անց հռչակվեց Ֆրանսիայի կայսր

Ինքնահեղաշրջումը, որը նաև կոչվում է ավտոհեղաշրջում (իսպ.՝ autogolpe-ից), կամ վերևից հեղաշրջում, պետական հեղաշրջման ձև է, երբ մի ազգի ղեկավարը, օրինական ճանապարհով իշխանության գալով, փորձում է անօրինական ճանապարհով պահել իշխանությունը։ Ղեկավարը կարող է լուծարել կամ անզոր դարձնել ազգային օրենսդրությունը և ապօրինի կերպով ստանձնել սովորական պայմաններում չտրամադրված արտակարգ լիազորություններ։ Այլ միջոցները կարող են ներառել ազգի սահմանադրության չեղարկումը, քաղաքացիական դատարանների կասեցումը և բռնապետի լիազորությունները ստանձնելը[1][2]։
