AbstractAbstract
[en] The interaction of microorganisms with Cs in aqueous solution and soil is a key for Cs bioremediation as an alternative of physical and chemical remediation and for understanding the Cs mobility in the environment. In the present study, we isolated cesium tolerant bacteria (CsT-tb) strain having very high tolerance level toward Cs, although it has relatively low Cs sorption capacity from the solution. The effect of CsT-tb strain for bioremediation was analyzed by adding CsT-tb strain solution to the broth containing Cs adsorbed soil, revealing the comparable Cs removal with H2S04 treatment. The Cs desorption enhancement from the silt and clay soil fraction by CsT-tb strain showed its potential for Cs bioremediation and important information of Cs migration promoted by microorganism. From the phylogenetic tree of the 16S rDNA, the CsT-tb strain was closely related to Bacillus sp. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] On the basis of the approach developed within the framework of the dynamic collective model we study isotopic effects in the mean-square charge radii of odd Cs isotopes with A = 127--137. It is shown that the experimentally discovered breaks in the isotopic dependence of the mean-square radii are described well within the framework of the approach considered. The reasons for this phenomenon are discussed

AbstractAbstract
[en] Investigation into viscosity of solutions of bramides, chlorides, sulfates, carbonates, nitrates of lithium, sodium, potassium, rubidium and cesium at 20-90 deg C and solution concentrations from diluted up to saturated was conducted with the use of capillary viscometers during thermostatic control. The dependence of eta solution viscosity on eta deg water viscosity, taken at corresponding t1 and t2 temperatures is linear and described by etasub(tsub(2))-etasub(tsub(1))/etasub(tsub(2))sup(0)-etasub(tsub(1))sup(0)=hsub(B) equation where hsub(B)-the factor for all studied systems. If hsub(B) dependence on concentration is taken into account the given equation enables to determine the viscosity of electrolyte solutions of different concentrations at all temperatures with the error not exceeding 0.3%

AbstractAbstract
[en] Using an atomic-beam magnetic resonance apparatus connected on-line with the ISOLDE isotope separator, CERN, hyperfine structure measurements have been performed in the 2Ssub(1/2) electronic ground state of some cesium isotopes. An on-line oven system which efficiently converts a mass separated ion beam of alkali isotopes to an atomic beam is described in some detail. Experimentally determined nuclear spins and magnetic moments for a number of cesium isotopes are reported and discussed in terms of different nuclear models. The experimental data indicate deformed nuclear shapes of the lightest cesium isotopes. (Auth.)

AbstractAbstract
[en] A report is presented on some preliminary results obtained in a systematic study of the influence of solute-solvent and solute-solute interaction on the 133Cs magnetic resonance. Cesium chloride, bromide, iodide, perchlorate, nitrate, thiocyanate and tetraphenylborate were the solutes. Water and eleven nonaqueous solvents were used. The results are discussed. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The rate of transport (diffusion) of cesium ion in aqueous solutions of all the alkali metal chlorides together with cesium iodide and cesium fluoride (generalized name MX) at 25 oC temperature has been measured by the radioactive tracer technique using 134Cs as tracer, over the 0.0< concentration>4.0 M. These diffusion data along with other transport data in the literature are used to calculate the velocity correlation coefficients (VCC) for Cs-M, Cs-H2O and Cs-X, which actually represent the ensemble average time integrals of the velocity correlation functions of the referred pair of species. The concentration dependence of VCC gives a quantitative estimate of the influence of environment and its dynamics on the transport of cation cesium in a highly correlated system like aqueous solutions of 1-1 electrolytes.

AbstractAbstract
[en] In continuation to our β -endpoint measurements of short-lived Rb-isotopes at ISOLDE we have determined precise β -endpoint energies of 139,140,141,142,143,144,145,146Cs using our achromatic magnetic electron separator that eliminates low energy electrons. Here only electrons in the neighbourhood of the β -endpoint are recorded in a low background environment. (orig.)
