Podicipedidae sunt aves ordinis Podicipediformium et solae aves cum hoc ordine consociatae.[1] Quae aves sunt urinatores aquae dulcis, quarum nonnullae mare hieme et migrantes visitant. Ordini sunt una familia, cui sunt viginti duae species in sex genera exstantia digestae.
