Santram Varma was born 1921 as Santram Chawla in the Punjab Region of British India. He is one of the founders of Varma Films, best known for Sohag Raat (1948), Patanga (1949) and Badal (1951). Santram was married to Prakash, with whom he had four sons (Kishore, Aroon, Anil & Raj) and a daughter (Kiran). He died in 1975 in Bombay, India.
