Freaking massive.
What a ride! The city scene with all the debris at the end rocked like hell.. so did the music.. Damn Navis, you seem to never run out of good ideas.. Could win bp09 :)

video coming to capped shortly :p
Lovely visuals and fantastic music, yet again! =) Way to go!
rulezed!
Ahhhh, beutiful! And yes, the last scene, the city.... OHLALAAAAAH!

Saw this on the lowres stream and thought "can't wait for the binary".
Thank you ASD for yet another masterpiece.

@Navis: I get this error right when I start the application. I don't get to see any screen resolution selection dialog. Any particular d3dx9_nn.dll needed?
I hope it works back home on my ATI HD3650. I am on an old shitty laptop right now on BP :P
Hallo there Navis! Show you on the BP big screen from gathering :)
I run it on 8800 GT 320, XP SP3
(GTS, or something :p)
What a race, what an experience for all senses! What a blast!
Burn and Wheely-ing definitively a winner :)
In-fuckin-credible!
thanks for my first "holy shit" demo experience of 2009
Oh....my....god!
Seriously, this is just incredible. Idea, style, graphics, music, flow - everything is top-notch. Btw, the performance even in the highest resolutions is perfect...quality code.
Congratulations to Navis and everyone involved, this will be the benchmark for 2009.

Dammit, I'll have to invest in a better graphics card at some point :(
forgotten thumb :O
pigpen: Works perfectly on 8800 GT on XP here :p
The demo itself is nice - looks like ASD try something different each time these days :)

my mouth is still open. Thats just incredible. I have no words.
technically excellent and with great transitions and flow as always
Simply fantastic - amazing trip!
great direction, modeling, music, and so far. well, the city debris might be a little cliche. :) runs beautifully on my dual 4850s.
Okay so it does work :-D I read the nfo and couldnt remember if my 7900GTX was pixel shader 3 or not.... Guess it must be, heh.
And all I can say is wow!

.
splendid!

Not working here: "The application could not start properly (0xc0150002)." (Geforce 8800 GTS 512, XP)
Another ASD gem, with the touch of an fr-debris.
one word: AWESOME!
woah.
excellent
Amazing content and great details all over! It's so absolutely delicious!
!
Jawbreaking work !!!
It was so awesome to watch this on the big screen <3
Oh Yeah, pure bliss again! ASD for the win.
YOU GUYS ROCK!
ASD <3
WOW
Simply awesome!
At first it was like "hmmm..." but then it turned into "WHOA!"
omg love it. epic
Just watched it on BP on the big screen, I love the dreamy crystal like structures and it's really fast paced and kinda funny concept actually :)
my thumb goes up for sure...
does not execute on my actual pc hw specs..
but..
what the hell!
amazing show!
but..

yes
The soundtrack is great (even if I don't really like the electri guitars :/), the visual style is awesome.

Insane!
Goddamn that was awesome.
Stunning.
Really good looking stuff and nice ideas, but the music is something I don't like almost at all. It kills my interest.
ASD meets Candela in Debris-Country! :)
Fucking rulez :)
Can't run it in this desktop. How will I be able to sleep now?
This is what you get when you give ASD the scripts for Tron, Back to the Future and Airwolf together. Awesome :D
This is really, really awesome. Good work!
Unbe-fucking-lievable!
nice trip. :)
Simply wonderful
a trip so worth it
i love you!
What a ride! And it even runs smooth on my hardware from Poland! Love!
HD Video on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=myz9rZEmmg4 (Online in a few Minutes)
last action demo
yeah :)
Hectic and nice. Worthy winner.
I like the music a lot!!!
Great direction and very good cameras...I like a part where camera is moving and zooms in...reminds me of Battlestar Galactica battle scenes...
"ASD is the new Hollywood"

This is really quite a treat. Best demo in a while.

Neat.
Nice
Hell fockin' YEAH! Breathtaking! I want to see this on a big screen :D. Once again an ASD production with those design ideas that make my mind spin ;). Although, I would like to see a bit more colours, but this design concept works too. I need to watch this a few more times to take it all in :).
pretty cool,
only the truck part is a bit boring, but the rest is OK
only the truck part is a bit boring, but the rest is OK
beautiful, simultaneously takes into account recent asd style improvements and returns to the classic big demo fx with chugging guitar music
Endless creativity from these guys. Respect.
Navis, come to the breakpoint... the toiletts are better here ;) Great Demo from ASD!
oh and Throw Navis Off The Train.mp3 owns too B)
A way too long but extremely good.
Awesome!
I've seen only the video but it rulez bigtime..
totally awesome!
ASD is back on track bigtime!
Fucking awesome.
rulez.
My jaw literally dropped to the ground. Such an awesome, upbeat, perfect show.
ASD is the best demogroup of the world. Perfect code, perfect design.
P.S. Navis? Maybe You help to develop better Windows. Kernel developed by Navis ;)

Very well done with the glass look.
impressive!
Tron vs. Terminator 2? :P
Anyway, someone please upload a high-quality video, youtube is not enough.
That's like asking a good dentist to revolutionize brain surgery. :)

damn impressive :D
damn impressive :D
I am sorry but this was simply a huge disappointment for me. I watched it with great expectations but well... First of all the transitions aren't as good as the so-called ASD trademark quality :). Secondly, the demo feels dull, it really doesn't have a point, it's not going to anywhere. And finally, the music is not my favourite from ASD.
On the other hand, I loved the volumetric triangle explosions as well as the rendering.
Overall a piggy.

Awesome in every respect.
If its crashing then try to install the Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package.
Impressive Ride. Thumbs up ;-)

So good it hurts, i'm totally shocked and almost speechless. I could list a million superlatives and it wouldn't be enough. Flawless performance, perfectly balanced and totally seamless. I just love the visuals and a stunning tune as always. I wasn't sure is Lifeforce could be matched but i think you have done it. Worked flawlessly on my ATI 4850.
Watched from HQ YT version I must say: "Demigods from Greece kill Debris". This show was so outstanding, that I wish it never ends. Transition lovers founds their nirvana. Superb scenes and graphic filter or what magic stuff Navis used. What really blows me out was incredible Amusic and Leviathan´s soundtrack.
In fact, you can do very different demos like Iconoclast, Metamorphosis or Size Antimatters but always in godlike quality.
thank you

Massive prod !

excellent
Just saw the youtube version and I am saving my thumb for when I actually see it running in real-time.
You guys really surprised me! I like the look and the direction (though it's far from the style I was expecting) was very appropriate for its style. The music isn't my cup of tea.
The particle system looks great but again, it suffers from youtube compression. :)
I'd give you more than one thumb if I could, but I'm saving it for the real (-time) deal. :D Rock on!

Well done and applied mesh breaking and construction here, just the way it should be done.
Thank you for showing amazing talent once again.

"This is why we are at war with the Gathering"
How incredibly overrated and boring production. No sucks tho.
Great action !
Cool stuff!
Capped :)
Not expecting this to work on Windows 7 but if it's possible it'd be great - I get an access violation just after the menu. Helpfully all of the useful shit such as fault offset and faulting module are "unknown".
Managed to run it with C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package.
Excellent stuff as usual Navis, excellent pace, style and concept.
Excellent stuff as usual Navis, excellent pace, style and concept.
Again a really great stylish and impressive production by ASD! Great works!
Awesome indeed! As usual with ASD you don't only get effects but also some kind of a story.
holy shit, you did it again
awesome visuals and sound!!! respect!!!
wait a minute...
Automan / Galaxy Express 999 ! \o/
Automan / Galaxy Express 999 ! \o/
Galaxy Express 999 was also what came to my mind when the train went off the rail the first time I saw this demo.
As far as Tron-inspired demos go, this was really great!
As with most ASD prods, the direction was astounding and so solid. A real quality release.

yes. it's cool. unbelieveable well done.
but it is out of my demoscene feelings. i don't feel the demo here. it's cool realtime visual presentation. it not inspiring me. it's too cool.

Astonishingly well executed and directed.

Holy crap!
were to start?! This one was just impressive and more impressive all the time. The most impressive demo I have seen.
gathering had a great compo and this was worthy winner!

Absolutely astonishing direction.
The music seriously lacks sense. The first half is great whereas the last one is crap. sfx are great btw.
Very coherent demo for an ASD prod.

The music ruins it for me. Matter of tastes I guess. But if I turn off the audio it looks really good. Somebody please do an alternative score.
Awesome!
!
(bow)
bestest :D
rocks!
Surprising ingenious!
I suspect I'll love this one for years even more then Iconoclast.

Alternative .mp3 / .ogg tracks as remixes for demos, hmm... :)
That was massive! Great job once again asd.
Agree... Amusic is such a great composer, but almost everybody hates the guitars in his music. Demo like this needs more electronic and less melody (without guitars)
Amusic! keep the guitars and make it the way you like to make it! It works! the music was great in this one too!
I have no words. ASD delivers.
WOOOOWW, ASD!! KEEP IT FOREVER, These DRIVE of SPEED + Dist Guitar Sound!
GREAT DEMO! :) FUCKING ULTRA BEST MEGA KILL!::!:!:!:! =)
GREAT DEMO! :) FUCKING ULTRA BEST MEGA KILL!::!:!:!:! =)
AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
not a new idea, but still very nice performance
as always : very creative, good direction, almost like a dream
@ryg : the fix works, i finally can watch this demo thanks for the info man.

Certainly my fav ASD prod so far.
It has everything :).

I'm not really sure where this wholesale clearance of black turtlenecks and designer glasses took place, but boy, do some of you take this re-heated bowl of leftovers ever so serious.
Trademark quality transitions, soundtrack that kinda falls apart and visuals that are fun up to the point where you realize that particular set of shaders has been used in other ASD demos so much they could get a spin-off sitcom.
Stop with the idolizing already.

Shifter: sure, but that applies to 99% of demos ever made ;)
The demo: usual asd quality. First impression (from the youtube video :/ ) - rules hard. I'll watch it on proper hardware sometime soon.

Unexpected as always. An original original demo concept.
I also spot a bit of terminator 2. Next time try watching decent movie's like Kurosawa's Yume. ;)

ASD once again...
ASD :) nice work
ASD
As always, AM(D)azing!!!
A(SD)mazing....
Totally great stuff! Great music! Great visuals! Great concept :)
Just one word : excellent !!
Creativity strikes back. ASD shows again that the concept is the thing that makes a demo different. its not that this effects haven't been seen before, but its the way they are composed, its the path you walk through the demo that makes this production again stand one step ahead of the others.
Great, great work!
Great, great work!
btw, the guitars are alright, what's bad is the mixing of the track.. perhaps you shold ask for some advice from masters like little bitchard and make it sounds much better, because you really rule composing... just my 2 eurocents..
nice visuals and lots of content but i couldn't see many real effects and generally it felt too 3d-flybyish for my taste. music was something i don't want to even comment.
mindblowing and thanks for the ati-love! :)
really nice prod. Great direction nicelly executed
Well executed. A lot of cool ideas and nice transitions.
i found it good
HQ video, anyone?
something between nice and awesome.
the music was sort of shit as always, but I loved everything else
For me, the wireframe generation and the boolean geometry operations in this demo are easily noticed by everyone familiar with 3D graphics (for example, on the truck after it was crossed by the motor bike). These effects are really well made. It was a rare case for a few last yeas when I asked "how?!.." while watching the demo.
A word about soundtrack: it is cool. First of all, I like the sound effects. Second, I like minimal-like sound for a minimal-like visuals. I said "-like" because both are not simple or poor at all. Sound and visuals was just stylized in the "minimal" way, but they are very complex, actually.
So, sfx & gfx was alloyed in the great prod, the great piece of art.

MUSIC. Direction.
It's fantastic!
GREAT visuals!
Love the guitars and it looked very good on the big screen!
crystal!
WOW! You did it again! I love the fast pace of this demo - and it's done to perfection!
this must have been incredibly nice to watch on the big screen live.
asd you are playing in your own league , there is no competition for you anymore.
asd you are playing in your own league , there is no competition for you anymore.
I´m liking more the more I see it (my first reaction was not that positive because I don't like this sort of mzk). There is a transition, at 4:14 when the little boat starts sailing and the train fades out which is excellent! And all the cameras are fantastic too (you still stay in the sincos club?)
by "sort of" I mean "type of"
Really cool - love the flow and how you manage to give the very real impression different environments, whlie maintaining the high-tech look. Beautiful (but god how I will never learn to appreciate your wimpy guitar soundtracks).
Really great direction and the flow. I'd love to see the explosion of the crashed boat though...
It's great to see such a different styles in your demos. I hope you will bring us more of them!

tron style quite always works for me :)
You guys! :D
Looks simple, elegant and cool at the same time.
If I had to point something out, it is that some scenes are on the screen a bit too long.
This would easily have won the demo compo at BP this year.

yeah, sweet direction and cool ideas with damn nice postprocessing. maybe the effect is a bit overused and i don't get the link between the flat and stuff and the traffic fuckup... but hey, i'm still hangover'd just you know. ;)
Nice to see it on the bigscreen :) yeah yeah
what i disliked at BP that they showed only this entry and not all Gathering entries. That would have been very cool!

Pretty and consistent. Nice to see ASD now being capable of sticking to one style instead of a random rainbow-coloured mishmash, even in these "major releases". However, towards the end I found this a bit too uneventful, flybyish and - something I wasn't expecting from ASD - boring. Still easily a thumb-upper thanks to the smooth visuals :)
Just amazing
Kicked major ass! I really like the Tron vs. Miami Vice style cross-over (now, only if the soundtrack had some Jan Hammer'ish drums ;), and the execution is nearly flawless. Congrats for the well deserved 1st place!
Whoa
I must say I consider this to be the best of all the asd demos. Even though it might not be the one with most effort used in, nor with the totally best soundtrack (which still rocks, nevertheless)
Funny I interpreted this whole thing to be a journey of the humankind towards a better society - with a lot of different obstacles on the course.
As if at the beginning there's only this one enlightened person, who kicks it off, and then get a lot of other people to join in his journey - and together they further expand and beat these obstacles.
And at the end there seems to be even a city like in the Zeitgeist/Venus project society visions. The ringular type of city.
I like this a loot
Thumbs up

We watched this at BP. Awesome demo with unique feelings. Congratulations.
An idea that has been perfectly executed (except for the music, but that seems to be a matter of taste).
maxon: not exactly what I saw in it... but damn that would be an awesome concept for a demo ;)
I just watched this and i loved both the music and the visuals :-).
awesome :D
Very great as usual! Nice tron-like style. @aMusic&Leviathan: Could you please upload the pure music without the demo-sounds in the background? Btw: nice song-title. :o) @Navis: Why is there no engine-sound oder any other sound when the boat falls through the watertunnel? This is the only part where I get no real connection between music/sound & visuals. But the rest is pure magic.
What iq said about the music...but that fiery glow shader is to die for :D
hervorragend!
fookin' hell that's one helluva demo! also, yes navis.. you're a dreamstealer! :P
weird, but impressing.
I like the style! Super! =)
Fascinating the way this constantly seems to reinvent itself as the demo goes... bravo
very much content for a 1k.. nono srsly was really impressed by the amount of work which must have been flown into this.. another rocking asd prod..
The boolean effects and how everything breaks down to tetrahedrons is just awesome. Way more awesome than my city thing that breaks down to tetrahedrons i made 5 years ago or so but was never released ;) True story.
ok, had a look at the vid :)
the rendering and the pace made that a very nice experience, kewl style :)
its a MASTERPIECE again :) thanx !

good stuff, kinda weird, but that music is just horrible .. complete turnoff with THAT much guitar .. piggy
Best demo at Breakpoint. Thanks for the show!
moar guitar plz!
Got it to run in Vista 64, awesome demo. Maybe some transitions could've done with more "oomph," though. Like when the train flies through the open mouth and lands back on the tracks I thought there wasn't enough build or impact there, it was just too smooth.
This trend of "posting screenshots of stuff that vaguely resemble the demo in some way" is pretty stupid. What is the point? We have seen the demos - we know what they look like - what on earth is the screenshot-posting supposed to accomplish? :) *sigh*
awesomeness! very nice visuals and direction. soundtrack is not my cup of tea though
srsly
wow
The effects are incredible and the music is even better.
wow - thank you ASD for such MasterPiece!
ups, forgot thumb
wow.
Fantastic demo, and this time I really liked the soundtrack as well.
I purposely didn't watch this when we tested the demos before the compo show. Just ran it, watched a few seconds and said "it works on the compo machine, I don't want to see this before we see it on the big screen" and exited. (Someone else did actually test the entire demo, but I went out of the room before it happened.)
Being able to present stuff like this to the audience at the Gathering made all the work we put in before and during the party more than worth it. Thank you :)

gloom - I don't do it often (ok, twice tonight...) but it's nice to try and spot where some inspiration came from. Even if it was unintended. It's not an accusation of theft or copying or anything like that, just an appreciation that there may be a nod to another demo here and that other demo might also be worth seeing.
But since you moaned about it I'll avoid doing it again.
But since you moaned about it I'll avoid doing it again.
What a nice trip, the best was the boat scene.
This demo was looking great on the big screen, we were watched it over and over again, it has a different concept than usual and determines this very good
Nice.
@aMUSIC: Thanks for posting the song.
Great prod, worthy winner, kudos for releasing at TG. As far as ASD-at-TG prods go, I still prefer Animal Attraction, but I certainly can't complain :-)
So what I want to know is:
How did you know that Jesus Christ Motorcross was going to split me open and then heal me?
I mean, it was a full 24 hours or so before that happend, what with the prediction stuff? Huhs?

(anselmo) F*N Right. _F*N RIGHT!_
apparently this is the CDC-est asd demo after lifeforce
Brilliant, massive, spectacular. This will be tough to beat for the rest of 2009.
great!
great demo! and seeing this one at the bp bigscreen made it even better :D
this is so super-awesome with the sound and all! great work guys!
cool musical flow, nice theme, great use of boolean geometry and awesome looks. The subtle quality: it all looks so easy the first time you watch it until you realize all the details... also, what jazz said.
great stuff!
Lovely
I think this is my favourite ASD demo from now on, though my CDC will stay with Lifeforce because that's kind of personal for me.
awesome, yeah!
Fuck...
I second Pommak.
Overall it is a matter of taste everytime you watch a demo. Well...it bored me when I watched it for the second time. So...Pigface.

I really like that there is continuity in the story of this demo. You don't see it very often. Marvelous visuals also.
spine tingling neon goodnes with transitional and aural excellence.
Best easter demo by a trucking mile.

The rendering & mesh effects are fantastic!
kurli your breaking city looked like shit you know :-)
Anyways about this prod.. I really dig the visuals, especially the play between hot & cold, and how stuff breaks up (tho i would've put more balls into it) but for some odd reason the whole demo, apart from the first 30 seconds, just didn't "do" anything for me. I was actually waiting for it to end.
Also the music was horribly misplaced, at least for my taste.
Props for the effort and the visuals, but i can't thumb this up (actually i was contemplating thumbing this down, but in the greater scheme of things this is one of the better "pop" ASD demos, so i just couldn't)

gonna have to watch it several times before giving thumb. for now i think it looks massive but fails to make me feel :)
rulez...nothing else.

Awesome visual experience!
Best viewed on bigscreens!
Best viewed on bigscreens!
impressive demo
The first half, until the sea scene made my jaw fall, the same for the whole music.
Maybe the rendering (or some other detail) should have changed for every single part...using the same style makes me feel I'm just looking to a different veichle and I bet I'm wrong.

Just watched this at home. it gave me the chills at home aswell!
Thanx ASD :)

I guess this is a first.. even when I know the demo will be shit boring after viewing it 3 times..
oh well, navis: the toilets are below the grand stand

about the music..
i would like to hear an ASD soundtrack with heavier guitars (add some low frequencies to it Leviathan pleeeeeasee :)
but than again.. it wouldn't be that "progressive metal"l after all.. would it??

Incredible stuff! Absolutely deserved to win!
i am watching it again and again on the bigscreen at home.
blew my mind.
blew my mind.
Ayeah! It's got vehicles and an 8 cyl engine, two of my favourite things. And it's constantly moving somewhere, it never stops and doesn't revolve around some centre. So great! I've always wanted to do a demo like this. The music is as always a bit too slick for my ears, a little extra grittines and stomp would have been nice for the speed-feeling.
Not the best demo ever, but I really really really loved it when I saw it the first time, even if the mix was not perfect.
I have seen it a few times, and it is not as good after that, but I still enjoy it very much (it has a lot of surprise/inital "whoa" facotr).
Definitely one of those demos that I will keep watching once in a while.

@Navis:
Is there any way that I can watch this 16:9 letterboxed on a 4:3 crt? In Lifeforce you could choose a resolution like 1024x768 and it was properly letterboxed with the "force widescreen" option.
But when I try the same combination in this menu, the 16:9 picture isn't in the middle of the screen but squashed to the bottom with the top third of the screen being black...

no comment...
One of the best demos I've seen in a long while. You always come up with a fresh, new look for your demos and avoid all regular demo cliches, making it a very different experience watching ASD demos than demos from any other group.
I believe this demo will have a very positive effect on all non-demosceners getting introduced to demos. I've talked to many people not previously aware of the demoscene who had their first wow-experience with demos when watching this on the big screen in the TG compo. You managed to impress people beyond the point where "games do it better". Thats excatly what we need to keep the demoscene alive and growing. Thank you again very much for releasing this at The Gathering!

Navis You just invented a whole new Virtual Reality.
ROX!
ROX!
These kind of prods is why I should invest in a überspec computer!
asd rules ! actually best scene group . stop coding, watch it!
pure!..
Awesome, impressive, epic soundtrack...exactly what i did expect from ASD! YOU GUYS DELIVER!
Astounding.
<3
This worked like a charm on the big screen at TG.
yet another kick asd demo!
Exactly what docd said.
The music was nice and graphics looked cool, especially the sparks and burn marks in the scenes. Otherwise quite boring flyby and also too long for the content so I really can't thumb this up.
looks good!
First viewing, I saw a movie. Second viewing, I saw beautiful color design and direction.
Then I started seeing unusual effects, some kind of subtractive geometry and a very cool way of making solid objects break up. Must...keep...watching...

Just saw the video in a non-youtube definition and I can't find the words to describe it. But
I'll try.
You guys caught the essence of dreams and this production makes me feel so small in comparison. The music sounded better on the second time and there's so much to see. The "fire" shader and colors really complete this.
Wow
I'll try.

extra extra extra kudos for making it run smoothly on my old rig :))

Very awesome! Rocked when it was shown on the big screen at BP. Great graphics/3d and cool music. And it reminds me of Automan which is reason enough for a thumb. =)
So pretty!! Not good as previous ASD demos IMO though.
nice shaders ;) (maybe a bit lengthy..)
I would say this ranks right up there with the best of ASD. It's a bit different, but it's still everything you'd expect from an ASD production. Sweet flow and creative. Runs oh-so-silky-smooth at 1920x1200 on my rig, too!
Grandios
pure ASD madness
progee.
i get an error when starting this, btw. application can't be initalized blabla...
BTW: Why is the exe (and the zip) called "rapture"? :)

great!
Aweeeesome and rulezzzzzz
what navis said..
awesome! the music didn't really do it for me, though. I miss ze nice melodiezzz...
Great trip.
THE DEBRIS ROADMOVIE! IN DOLBY STEREO!!!!
One of your best demos! Simply briliant! You make of each demo a unique piece of art.
Navis: Maybe my CPU is outdated, it's an old Athlon XP 1900+. GFX Card is Radeon HD 2600 XT. Windows XP SP3.
BUT IT'S ONLY WIREFRAMES :(

Really, really good. The sound track drives the whole demo and builds up the speed of the presentation. Amazing!

hehe, when i found out someone did thumb this down i said to myself "it must have been jealous dodke or freaky nosfe". voila, it was nosfe this time :D
Saw it at BP09 after TG09's show already...
Really another FANTASTIC ASD prod!! :-D
BUT:
When trying here at with my machine I get an error:
"ASD-Rapture.exe: Couldn't initialize correctly! Press OK"
D/L'ed the version from TG09 (scene.org) and the one linked here directly from ASD site! Both give the same error!
My specs:
Core2Duo E6600, Nvidia 8800GTX, latest drivers, latest DX9, winXP SP3.
So please don't tell me now that an 8800gtx is already too 'outdated' for this prod, is it!? ;-))) THAT what be _really_ extremely rad, dude(s)... :-)
...and - to repeat the question from above - WHY is the zip _and_ the included .exe called rApture when the prod is listed as rUpture everywhere? Weird !?!? ;-)

Same here. Vista x64, GTX260 core 216.
i'm not going to thumb this up unless this gets a proper mix for a soundtrack
nice
Wow. ASD breaking new boundaries and delivering possibly the most mind-blowing prod I've ever seen :) great stuff.
masters of the fluid transitions ... I bow before your awesome cadence (and cascade)
The improved sound mix is really very much better. :) Allthough I still hear more sound effects in my head when watching the demo (for example when the train re-enters the track, when the boat flies out of the "wormhole" or when the helicopter starts and the boat falls by).
hey that new sound mix is indeed better, i like how the guitars are less jarring now and meld in better
@Weasel: Nope. I could run it just fine on a GF7600 / XP. Doesn't work on my laptop though (GF7700 Go / Vista). The drivers on my laptop might be older though, I dunno.
aMUSIC:
Thanks for the hint! It works indeed! Justt needed to visual c++ SP1 redist (second link from ryg's post) which made it work after all! :-)
Anyways, hope this will be gone in your 'final' release version then! ;-)

visuals are over the top, of course. music is also good, but overal demo lacks soul, some kind of touching magic. it is like a hollywood film, consisting only of chase.
Good music, really nice visuals.
This is why we are at war.
this is great.
I admit the song has grown on me over time.
massive

The best demo I've seen in a long while. I'm not a big fan of ASD's earlier stuff but this one just RULES! Heh.. the last demo I enjoyed watching over and over again was made by a group called Andromeda :)
Little less electric guitars wouldn't hurt.. but a big thumb up anyways. Good job guys!
ps. The ASD logo reminds me of our doomsday (DSD) logo, coincidence?

again it is the incredible amount and perfection of details that makes this asd show so special. there are so many little (and big) things to discover.
seen it four times by now and i still don't feel it, not even a little.
all i can say about this is that it has neat music and visuals that both completely fail to make any impression on me whatsoever.
i'll just pass on this one and watch captive instead.

solid
i'm not really for or against this production. i can't stand the guitars in the asd-demos, they are just misplaced (and yes, i do occasionally listen to metal music and enjoy it - so thats not the point).
one thing i noticed was that navis stated that boolean operators on geomtry is a new effect and the voronoi is new too - and that is not the case either :-) i could'nt find any examples for voronoi, but i know they exists and boolean operators have been used for ages ...
i will give this a piggy, since it's awesome code, great visuals, shitty music and a plotless plot (i.e. it appears to have a plot, but it's leading to nowhere).

booleans: medium uses alpha test to slice objects (because it's for dx7 level hw). whether you compute the function in the shader or store it in a texture and then use alpha test is pretty immaterial. also, the "mesh floodfill" seen in a bunch of fairlight demos starting from track one works the same way, with a differently computed mask value.
Brilliant
the boolean thing is also in this absolute classic : http://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=24952
Ooohh, finally a great product by ASD :)
Love it!
Love it!
Glad I'm not alone in thinking the guitars were misplaced and the "plot" was.. well.. But I guess I'm the only one who didn't find the visuals and direction all that amazing. Hm.
ASD? that happened?
tronbris <3
a pulsating adrenalin filled ride through the life of asd, tearin' every damn thing in their path up along the way, 100% enjoyable, will watch this again and again, awesome :)
Amusic: Thanks for the new mix, the guitars are a lot more pleasant and less "super-high-mid-earpoke" now. :)
NO RYG!! our ribbons are for real!
and i forgot to thumb this, i hate the music but kind of love the rest... only dragons and broadswords that are missing. (perhaps the next demo).
Very cool, a great showpiece demo.
Runs like a dream at 1080p/16xQAA on my E6600@3.5+GTX280 on 40" inches.. Love the soundtrack as well.

a great show
Very nice, cool graphics, very nice direction. I also thought about Galaxy Express 999. Not to crazy about the music though.
cinematography, direction, soundtrack, execution - brilliant !
Love the flow and soundtrack. Not too choppy on my crap graphics card either!
finally got my turn to watch this demo
and finally found the time
all i can say is now i want to become greek, transgender, and i want babies from you.
you decided to release this on the gathering, for whatever reason, to impress some gamers maybe, but you could have released it anywhere; it would have won. this demo is just so brilliant and beautiful and powerful and fresh, that i can hardly bare the fact that it was actually not released on breakpoint, where such a demo was clearly lacking and where such a demo would have won by far. i willl still prefer lifeforce over this, due to its diversity, but the code, gfx, music, direction and flow of this one here at hand totally convince me, more than i can express. thank you very much for this great experience.

this looks like a dream
nice one, but it's pretty far from your previous prods. anyway, thnx
Navis: you are god
jesus christ this stuff is fantastic. looks, music, direction, everything. i don't even care what platform it was made on or for.

ASD has done far better, and this, THIS, is mere spacefilling. SUX.

Where is direction ? Where is creativity ? Where is Art ?!!?!

Oh look, Thumb #276. Jeah!
I didn't liked that one so much. Some scenes are too long, and I didn't really caught the point. But still technically interesting.
Awesome. Reminds me of the earlier ASD Demos… it's not the idea-orgasm that lifeforce was but man, it's still a blast. The music really "drives" you through the visuals, awesome. Track name rocks too. :D
Oh, talking about remixes: Renamed lifeforce's Memento Mori to Throw Navis off the Train.
Doesn't fit perfectly, but still interesting to watch. Boat sequence matches piano part really well...

Breathtaking as always.
But as others have mentioned, and I too have in previous prods. The Synth guitars are not my cup of tea. IMO it ruins your tracks. Reminds me too much of Jan Hammer tunes back in the early 90ies.
But hey, do what you like to do. As one can see in the comments, a lot of people like it, so why not :)
Overall very good work guys.

Normal ASD quality! Which means that IT KICKS ASS!
The more ASD prods change, the more they stay the same?
Breathtaking experience. And what a soundtrack!
OOOOMMMMMPH! .... !!! ... GRAH!!!!
Awesome!
a bit too long for me, rest is perfect, asd rules!
Oddly, I can't get this to work under Windows 7 (32 bit) even in XP mode. Seems to happen with a few ASD prods. :/
Same it doesn't work for me in Win7 (64bit), Lifeforce works fine though.
Works here, Win7 64bits RTM, Geforce GTX 260.
And I didn't thumb up this one yet ?!
Done.

Stunning!
Great soundtrack, stunning design. Instant classic!
Is the voice in the beginning copyrighted material?
lots of effort. nice to watch!
I've just heard the tune on Nectarine, therefore without the visuals: it just rocks.
Incredible production. Reminds of TRON.

awesome
It's absolute cool!

Best demo of 2010!
amazing visual and direction
Unbelievably awesome.
nice visuals and music! and it works in wine on gf7800gtx :)
i wonder where the sharks went though -.-
Very TRONish (REZ too)! Very good!
How did I manage to miss this one... brilliant stuff!
good
the only complain I got is the story: seem like there's supposed to be one, there's an intro but after that ???
still, its an awesome production.
still, its an awesome production.
.
Stationary texture on trailer, pistons, transformation to ice floe scene, death twitches of helicopter.
4 more reasons to fucking love ASD.

Forgot to vote on this... so: amazing music, neck-breaking pace, and best "vectorish" demo ever overall.
After a many watches I must admit, the scene with helicopter is best scene in all demos I have ever seen for decades. Still breathtaking after hundred rewatches from 5:15 to end of demo. And that godlike ending music !
I wish I could give this more than one thumb.

these guys are the peak of the demoscene at the moment.
Was this a bit inspired by this video, perhaps?
One of the best demo soundtrack with great visuals. I love it!
Navis: The youtube video was uploaded 27 February 2009, that's why I asked. It did seem a little bit too perfectly aligned to be chance, but apparently it was :)
i have seen this video.. i think it was used during ronnys and/or willbes DJ set as a VJ performance.
everything is great in this demo!
perhaps my favorite from ASD :)

Awesome visuals ... feels like back in the 80s watching 'Automan' ... only cooler. One of my favorite songs from aMusic.
very nice!
spooky and nice

nice one
damn this demo rocks
Hmm... is it just me, or does the loading screen remind anyone else of Death Rally as well? :) (font face, car, flames...)
now, is it called rupture or rapture? can find both on YT
Rupture
one of the best
very nice!
+ everything
- nothing
Well, that's something demoscene is living for. Fantastic production. LSDish ideas, rocking music, detailed & big modells, nice effects, and all this in really awesome mix!
And yeah, it runs perfectly even not on supa-dupa-new (for 2009) PCs. That's incredible.
Outstanding work.

My most favourite from ASD!
I'm impressed by design of this demo. Nice idea for water effect!
My most favourite from ASD!
Incredibly stylish and thrilling. I like ASD demos like this more than stuff like Planet Risk, Iconoclast, or Lifeforce, where direction is nearly ruined by desire to cram every new idea in the same release.
Awesome! What a ride, brilliant music. Spin is definitely on par with this! Keep it up.
Teh shit. Everything after the copter takes off is just pure win! And nice music to support the effects!
good fun
Wireframe heaven.....
Does not work here. Win7/x64, GT540M. Any ideas?
The demo does not run. On both WinXP and Win7. I installed .NET framework, DirectX, VC++ redist. Nothing helps. Gives me error '0xc0150002'. I vote for 'sucks' for this demo because someone making a demo must care at least a little about compatibility.
I get the same error. Unfortunate, but it was pretty awesome until factor X messed it up :)
I love the music, great direction... I love it!
Loving the awesome effects and nice track!
great! Such a solid production. Great in every aspect - code, excellent modelling and particle effects... wonderful soundtrack from aMusic. <3
yes
The music totally ruins this for me. And perhaps also the length of the demo. Nothing (interesting) happens!
What a shame. A piggie it is.
What a shame. A piggie it is.
Nice! (;
one of the few times i've liked story elements in a demo
Thumb for cool and original style. Some really nice effects.
I really do love this demo! And as far as compability it even runs in wine under linux :D
Forgot the thumb years ago :(
.
Just watched this again on my new GeForce. Was it always this awesome? What else have I missed out on?
Forgotten thumb for a great demo.
Yes ! I'm your best fan ! ASD creativity rulez ! \o/
Cool
pretty good
Love to the guy at SCALE 18x who put this demo on before the FreeBSD talk
ASD is another league
this is my fave PC Demo, ASD ROCK
Stylish, but a bit too long and repetitive imho.
Really nice!
