Global bot requests

Global bot status for MauritsBot

Thank you! Maurits 11:07, 21 June 2009 (UTC)

You seem to qualify, but I'm a little conserned about your cosmetic_changes. You can't run cosmetic changes, without specific approval for it on every wiki you intend to run it, with or without global bot-rights. As far as I can see, you have been running cosmetic_changes on several wikis without approval... Laaknor 11:23, 21 June 2009 (UTC)

I've been running cosmetic_changes only with approval, except for all wikis < 1000 articles. Only a very small portion of wikis disapprove of it and when they do, I turn it off for them (that is until now only fr: and no:. On en: I switched it off after I got approval for it, because one anonymous user disagreed). --Maurits 12:37, 21 June 2009 (UTC)

But that is backwards, you have to ask to turn it on, not have them tell you to turn it off. -Djsasso 18:42, 21 June 2009 (UTC)

It is only backwards for the second category, those < 1000 articles. For the rest, I don't intend to use the global bot flag as a way to get approval on all wiki's because it is not useful at all for me, I'm just here because nowiki keeps pushing. --Maurits 19:42, 21 June 2009 (UTC)

Hello, global bot flag is only for interwikilink-bots, I am confused by the discussion here, if the bot does not only do interwikilinks I put a veto here. Best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 18:44, 27 June 2009 (UTC)

The bot insofar it is a global bot is only an interwikilink-bot. I do not intend to add any languages to the existing config-script when I get this flag, except for nowiki (for which I already disabled cosmetic changes). For me, global flag = nowiki-flag, and nothing more. On every wiki > 1000 articles, I will file a separate request for local bot status. Regards, --Maurits 19:52, 27 June 2009 (UTC)

With global botflag you will also get botflag for most of the wikis with < 1000 articles. If your request is granted, you will also automatically lose the global right, for every wiki with less than 1000 articles you edit, that you do not have local botflag on...
Unless you promisse to not use cosmetic_changes on any wiki you do not have explicit permission from, global rights can't be given.
Also, the nowiki community has not said it will not give you local flag; it has (with only one 'crat in the discussion) that it prefer global botflag. The fact that you ask for global flags with only one wiki in mind, gives me the impression that you are not serious in actually using the global botflag, and for that reason, I do not think you should get it. Laaknor 13:42, 28 June 2009 (UTC)
Hello, I absolutely agree with Laaknor here, this is a missuse of global bot-flag, it is only for interwikilinks and only for global use, besides nowiki does not suscribe to the standard bot policy, which is why the owner would have to request locally anyway. Therfore marking this as Not done, best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 16:27, 28 June 2009 (UTC)
I understand your decision, thanks for considering the request. Kind regards, --Maurits 23:32, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
FYI, nowiki allows global bots to do interwikilinks. Interwikibots without global bot flag do not add much value. ZorroIII 16:25, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
"Interwikibots without global bot flag do not add much value." - that's the attitude I don't like. Please explain it, because I think that it is nonsense: why should a bot with many -or even one!- local flag be of less value than one with a global flag? The number of edits is exactly the same! Furthermore, a new bot will never become a global bot if not one or more wikis will grant it a local flag. Your argumentation is nonsense and destructive, and to speak frankly, I don't want to work on a wiki with a policy like yours. If not any other nowiki-member explicitly disagrees with you, than I will retreat my request on nowiki and exclude that arrogant wiki from every possible script I run (how little that may be worth in common, it is worth enough for me). I strongly request nowiki -or ZorroIII?- again to reconsider its policy, not on my behalf, but on their own. --Maurits 23:20, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
I am a sysop on nowiki, and I do not understand what ZorroIII said in his last post (and it is not part of out bot policy). Laaknor 13:35, 30 June 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for your reaction. Kind regards, --Maurits 19:10, 3 July 2009 (UTC)

Global bot status for D'ohBot

Thank you! Dnikitin 11:41, 24 June 2009 (UTC)

Hello, the bot seems to do other things than interwiki linking too, please can You confirm that You will use the global botflag for interwikilinking only (any other use would lead to the removal of the flag if the bot had not been granted local botstatus for other issues), thanks, best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 18:44, 27 June 2009 (UTC)
Bot does "other things" only for ru, uk, commons, but it was mentioned while request for approval for local bot flag. I confirm that my bot will do only interwikilinking where it doesn't have local flag. --Dnikitin 02:38, 28 June 2009 (UTC)
Thanks, I don't see any problems here then, leaving this open for a while so others can comment it, best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 16:27, 28 June 2009 (UTC)
Agreed and done. --Daniel Mayer (mav) 00:10, 1 July 2009 (UTC)

Global bot status for RoggBot

Except ru and la - only interwiki linking. 6 months of working.

Thank you! Roggy 04:27, 30 June 2009 (UTC)
Not many wiktionary IW-bots, and you work mostly there. Looks good to me (and I hope you help us with getting more wiktionaries on global bot policy ;). Laaknor 13:33, 30 June 2009 (UTC)
Plenty of edits, lots of local bot flags, no blocks. All seems to check out. Just need to wait a couple days, IMO. --Daniel Mayer (mav) 00:41, 1 July 2009 (UTC)
Trusted and responsible user, the bot seems to fulfill the policy, I don't see any problems here, best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 08:18, 1 July 2009 (UTC)
Done. --Daniel Mayer (mav) 21:24, 3 July 2009 (UTC)

Regain global bots at jawiki

Please help! One month ago, I requested to add "jawiki" to the "Global bot wikis" wikiset, and I thank, Laaknor did[1][2]. However, today Rubinbot (talk • contribs • block • xwiki-contribs • xwiki-date (alt) • CA • ST • lwcheckuser), a global bot, is running without marking editions as bot. The GlobalGroups tool shows that ja.wikipedia is now out of Global bot wikis, I don't know why. Could this trouble be fixed? Thanks in advance! --Kanjy 19:05, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

I have no idea why it's done, but it was missing from the list indeed. I've added jawiki once more. Laaknor 19:14, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
winkThanks! again, Laaknor! I surely saw the GlobalGroups tool had shown ja.wikipedia in the Global bot wikis list when you did it last month, and now I see it again. And now Rubinbot has marked its edit as "Mb" instead of just "M". --Kanjy 19:49, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

Global bot status for Louperibot

I apply to have the global flag. My bot just do interwiki and double redirects tasks, except in my home wiki. Active in cs, da, de, es, fi, fr, it, ja, nl, pt, sv since at least 14 months.

Thank you! Louperivois Ψぷさい @ 23:26, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

Ah, and Louperibot execute the cosmetic changes only in his home wiki. Louperivois Ψぷさい @ 23:32, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
Done.--Jusjih 16:00, 12 July 2009 (UTC)

Bot status requests

SiemiBot@rmwikipedia

This bot is used on rm.wikipedia to move entire categories. There has not been a real discussion, but as you can see for example here, the bot is usually run on the community's request. A while ago we had a, erm well, guest editor (rm:User:Felix Portier) which has since been blocked for bulk-creating pages and categories without understanding a word of Romansh. Since I was recently granted temp admin access for two week, I used the chance to bulk-move the misnamed categories to their correct names. This overloads the recent changes log by far. The bot was already granted a flag on bar.wikipedia and nap.wiki (named ABot, would like it renamed though) --Kazu89 15:09, 19 June 2009 (UTC)

Hello, the bot is not an interwikibot, thus he does not fall into the standard bot policy which is allowed on rm.wiki, he needs to make a local request and only with community consensus can be granted botstatus, thanks for Your understanding, best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 21:51, 19 June 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for your response, birdy. I started a voting in our Village Pump and hope to get at least one person voting. What if nobody votes? --Kazu89 11:25, 21 June 2009 (UTC)
If no one votes, that would be a problem, then the wiki would be too small to grant botstatus for other issues than interwiki, please see Bot_policy#Community_consensus, he could run it without botstatus still, best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 11:29, 21 June 2009 (UTC)
Und noch mal danke! I will try and contact some users and ask them to express their opinion. --Kazu89 19:28, 21 June 2009 (UTC)

There is one vote atm. I am inclined to grant the botstatus, the bot seems to work well, other views are welcomed. Best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 18:39, 27 June 2009 (UTC)
I agree and granted the bot flag. --თოგო (D) 18:48, 27 June 2009 (UTC)

MauritsBot@dsb.wikipedia

I know that the discussion is not long, but there are not many active users on the wiki. We don't have any local bureaucrats, so I ask here for the flag for this bot. Derbeth 16:52, 21 June 2009 (UTC)

Hello, leaving the voting open until 25. june, best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 19:23, 23 June 2009 (UTC)

Almabot@astwiki

No objection for the past three weeks, no active bureaucrat. Thanks! Nakor 23:33, 27 June 2009 (UTC)

Hello, please try to contact the local bureaucrat (I recommend to do that with special:emailuser), or (even better) propose the standard bot policy there, best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 15:21, 28 June 2009 (UTC)
Hello, I just did so but he has not been doing any edit for the past eight month so I do not expect much result from this. Nakor 16:28, 28 June 2009 (UTC)
I sent the crat an email. Hopefully a note in Spanish will not be seen as offensive. If you know Asturian, then please also send an email in that language. --Daniel Mayer (mav) 00:38, 1 July 2009 (UTC)

D'ohBot@faproject

Bot done > 100 edits. Thank you! Dnikitin 10:31, 30 June 2009 (UTC)

I just made this a global bot per above request. The discussion link you provide does not seem to work. Not sure if local bot flag is needed unless non-interwiki link edits will be made. --Daniel Mayer (mav) 00:21, 1 July 2009 (UTC)
Hello, for me the link works, the user asked for botflag for an interwikibot there, so since the bot has now global botstatus and fawiki allows global bots there is no need to keep this request open. Best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 13:16, 1 July 2009 (UTC)

BenzolBot@barwiki

Just for your information: barwiki now also has the standard bot policy and allows automatic approval.

The bot is adding {{commonscat}} (and can do other requests if asked for) so it can't get a global flag. As you can see on the other bot requests on kl it is not common that other than Kaare comments. MGA73 17:06, 13 July 2009 (UTC)

Nemobot@ko.wikisource

It seems like the bureaucrat in the local project is not active for two years. There was no objection for past two weeks in the local request page and a request for use of this bot was in my discussion page. Thank you! Nemonemo 03:04, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

Hello, Your bot is moving pages which does not fall into the standard bot policy. For other use than interwiki You would need local consensus for a botflag, please try to contact the local users if they agree to Your bot actions there, best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 07:09, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
I posted a message for consensus with this bot in the forum of Korean wikisource project, and there was a discussion on how the format of a legal document should be. All the people in the discussion agreed that it is better to use a bot for importing, linking, and managing legal documents and there was even a request for prompt action on documents the bot uploaded in my discussion page. -- Nemonemo 14:52, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
Hello, that the users have agreed to the changes does not mean they agree to the flag too, or they should express this, please ask them to participate in the voting at s:ko:위키문헌:봇#Nemobot, thanks, best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 19:24, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
