북극펭귄@kowiki

The following discussion is closed.

Both users are suspected of sockpuppets of Unypoly @ kowp. Are these users sockpuppets? Cf,

Thanks. --Ficell 11:57, 15 March 2008 (UTC)

Unypoly has edited too long ago, so I think you can't checkuser information of Unypoly. When you check, except Unypoly. Thanks. --Ficell 12:04, 15 March 2008 (UTC)

The two users in question don't seem to be related. Cubist seems legitimate, whereas there's conclusive evidence that 북극펭귄 is probably the same user as 프록시마, the user that was checked in the previous inquiry and subsequently blocked. As you've said, Unypoly cannot be checked. --FiLiP ¤ 13:48, 15 March 2008 (UTC)

Please check 202.249.210.81, 202.249.212.209, Alex K on uk.wikipedia. They made the same edits in article and offended other users, made edit wars. Possibly block evasion.--Ahonc 15:35, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

Confirmed. Edits from those IP addresses have been most likely made by Alex K. --FiLiP ¤ 16:27, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

Confirmed. Those three users are indeed sockpuppets of one another. After a thorough and long examination, I've come to conclusion that there are several proxy servers that serve(d) as access points for many users from one particular city in Asia. Since I'm dealing here with conclusive evidence and there is no doubt about it, I don't have a problem with naming the users in question. Of course, this would also help Farsi Wikipedia in fighting sockpuppets. The users are as follows (the order bares no relevance):
So that's 17 users. I hope this information can be used in the right way. --FiLiP ¤ 13:16, 21 March 2008 (UTC)

The following discussion is closed.

Dear stewards, I request that a check user will be perform on a static IP : 141.157.190.124 from USA, that I have blocked indefinitely for a post on WN which is a call for racial hate (you can check it on the fr:n:Discuter:Angela_Merkel_prononce_un_discours_devant_la_Knesset log). I would like to know if one or several accounts on WN fr are linked to this IP. We can not allow such a behaviour. Thank you in advance. Grimlock (fr WN bureaucrat and sysop) 14:54, 23 March 2008 (UTC)

No account is linked to this IP, sorry. … By the way, it would have been better not to paste the content into the deletion summary. Kind regards, —DerHexer (Talk) 10:36, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
Thank you very much (I have forgotten to fill the comment box). Grimlock 10:46, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

メタミドポス・ってるぅ@jawiktionary

The following discussion is closed.

Please check wikt:ja:User:メタミドポス・ってるぅ and wikt:ja:User:とうかんせん. They are two latest examples of a regular vandal on ja.wikt. Thanks in advance, e-Goat 02:27, 29 March 2008 (UTC)

Yukarin@jawikibooks

Please check b:ja:User:Yukarin. This is same name with well-known cross-project vandal on the Japanese projects including above two wikt accounts, and now on RfA on ja.wikibooks. Thanks in advance, e-Goat 02:27, 29 March 2008 (UTC)

Confirmed, the user b:ja:User:Yukarin is the same as the two mentioned ones on wiktionary, he is also the blocked user b:ja:user:ちゃたまなんてうそさ.
On Wiktionary between a lot (49) already blocked accounts also found 3 yet unblocked: wikt:ja:user:はにはにはー, wikt:ja:user:Jhonspiarno, wikt:ja:user:アスミス.

Vandals@wikimania2008

The following discussion is closed.

I would like to request a checkuser on the following accounts, to see if there is a common underlying IP used for vandalism. I don't need it revealed, just blocked if it is a cross-wiki IP vandal. Diffs can be found here - [1] - text is in foreign language, with an insult at the bottom, and offensive username.

So far the following users were created:

Please check to see if there are any sleeper accounts on the IP. Thanks, AP aka --Kelsington 19:35, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

Mauri@frwikiquote

Can you check Mauri in french wikiquote for the following reason :

  1. POV-pushing
  2. copyvio
  3. tronckated citations.

He uses as well his user account as IPs adresses. We'd the same problem in french Wikipédia. See also our talk page--Bertrand GRONDIN – Talk 18:45, 1 June 2008 (UTC)

Done Yes, he frequently interchanges between account and IP. IP data shared with requester for official complaint. --Thogo (talk) 18:49, 1 June 2008 (UTC)

Swingrockroddelerobandet@nowiki

Please check the user no:Bruker:Swingrockroddelerobandet, and see if he shares an IP with someone else, and check that IP on nnwiki as well. This could be characterized as fishing, but a sockpuppeteering user calling himself "Rodelero" has been a very persistent vandal on both nowiki and nnwiki for a long time, and now claims he "is back", so it is crucial to stop him early on in order to minimize the damage. Jon Harald Søby 12:05, 30 May 2008 (UTC)

Done IP is not used on nnwiki and nowiki (there except by the mentioned account, of course), Rodelero's edits are too old to check. IP data saved for later abuse mailing if necessary. --Thogo (talk) 12:10, 30 May 2008 (UTC)

Heroj_Patrik3@slwiki

Please check sl:Uporabnik:Heroj Patrik3, sl:Uporabnik:Heroj Patrik2, sl:Uporabnik:Heroj Patrik and sl:Uporabnik:Patricij. We are in trubble that at least one other user with different name is sockpuppet of Heroj Patrik (originally Patricij) because of same types of edits (removing talk pages content, personal attacks like YOU SHOULDN'T BLOCK ME, etc.) Also there is a question how to prevent user with DHCP address creating new accounts (Here he said that he is going to create new accounts constantly (Heroj Patrik4, Heroj Patrik5, ...)). Mitrius@elwiki

The following discussion is closed: Done

Please check el:User:Mitrius and ru:Участник:Юрий Иванков for possible account usurpation. I have accounts named Mitius in all the wikis including Meta and Commons (mainly I work in ruwiki ru:User:Mitrius), and the existence of el:User:Mitrius prevents merging my accounts. The alleged impostor account el:User:Mitrius has only one change - creation of an article about Russian academician Fomenko, that suggests he may also be a Russian speaker and he may know me on ruwiki. I cannot write in Greek and dislike Fomenko's theories. I had conflicts with ru:Участник:Юрий Иванков both on March 19 (link in Russian here), the day before the account on elwiki was created, and then on March 24 (link in Russian here), the very same day the only change of el:User:Mitrius was made. ru:Участник:Юрий Иванков knows Greek language (el-4) as a Babel box on his page testifies; I cannot remember any other wiki user with him I had a conflict who knew Greek. --Mitrius 14:14, 25 May 2008 (UTC)

Sevak@mlwiki

Please do a rundown on c the user Sevak. he seems to be a sock of Bluemangoa2z. Sevak is causing trouble by flaming in a sysop election.

Thanks. --Challiyan

Unlikely Unlikely. Seem not to be related, remember that cu is not a crystal ball and can't solve everything, if the user causes troubles maybe an admin action is required, best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 11:06, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

pachapeedika@mlwiki

Please do another check on Pachapeedika and Bluemangoa2z. they both seem to mislead other users, take sides, talk with religious bias. and vote on elections.

thanks Challiyan

Declined, cu does not solve that problem if one or two users mislead someone or talk bias, I don't see any valid reason to run a cu here, best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 17:24, 8 May 2008 (UTC)

Several requests about viwiki and vandalpuppets

We have reasons to believe that vi:User:Liebesapfel is the person behind repeated vandalism attacks against the Vietnamese Wikipedia but have no definite proof. We found a non-proxy IP performing vandalism in the manner of the other attacks. We'd like to know if Liebesapfel has ever logged in from this IP address: 117.5.67.161. Another of Liebesapfel's suspected puppets, vi:User:Phúc Du, made some supposedly constructive edits before starting her vandalism rampage, so Phúc Du and Liebesapfel might also share IPs at some point. DHN 20:15, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

Which are these reasons? Could you give us some links? Thanks, —DerHexer (Talk) 20:29, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
  • vi:User:Phúc Du and many many other accounts in this category share the same pattern of vandalism. Here are two of them who showed connections with vi:User:Liebesapfel: [2], [3]
  • vi:User:Phúc Du and vi:User:Liebesapfel have extremely similar writing style (this I cannot show you cos' it is in Vietnamese). Liebesapfel contributed mainly in articles on animes and anime-related games. Phuc Du contributed only in articles on anime-related games.

Tmct 20:46, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

  • Liebesapfel was banned for 6 months beginning in December after a time-consuming controversy regarding content in her user page: she repeatedly added pictures that many users found objectionable: feces, sex toys, swastika, communist flag, etc. The vandalism attacks only started after she was banned.
  • The vandalism consisted of posting large pictures of genitalia in user talk pages.
  • The vandal said "you know who I am" and claimed that she was righting wrongs committed by the admins.
  • During vandalism attacks, Liebesapfel would sometimes log in and write in her user talk page, demurely asking "what's going on" even when nobody said anything to her. DHN 21:06, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
If it's of any help, the vandal often uses on his edits summaries "unblock liebesapfel and this will stop" and the alike es:Drini 21:47, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
Done Confirmed relation with Phuc Du. Also direct relations with Liebesapfel, Fate's Palpitation, Jerrymouse, Tmct's phucking mom HAHAHAHAH, Beauty Of The Beast, Phúc Du , Nguyenbabinh, all indefinitely blocked. All the IPs are already blocked as open proxies es:Drini 21:54, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

Please check if these vandal socks used open proxies. Thank you. Tmct 18:43, 20 April 2008 (UTC) I am really sorry for the long list. We have already more than 40,000 open proxies blocked, but we still get dozens of vandal accounts each day spamming obscenity. Tmct 19:18, 20 April 2008 (UTC)

vi.wikipedia

Those are some of the socks who open accounts just to spam obscenity or nonsenses. Please check what sort of IPs they used. Recently we have dozens more of them each day. We've been blocking a lot of open proxies but it doesn't seem to solve the problem yet.

Thank you. Tmct 14:01, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

Confirmed, but they go over proxies as You said: open proxies You might want to block:

205.234.104.30
66.197.241.55
66.197.241.54
If open proxies continue to be a mayor problem for Your project You could think about blocking them, User:DerHexer wrote a script that blocks open proxies, he has done that already for ml.wiki, because they had a lot of vandalism. Just contact him if You want his help, but make sure to find consensus in the community first.
Best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 14:17, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

Thank you very much. Below is the list of those vandal accounts we got since yesterday. I have scripts to block IPs and we have blocked all those proxy list that we've found so far plus all IPs blocked in en.wiki (those blocked in other wikis are going to be blocked very soon). I've also used the IPs you gave above as search keywords. But it looks like we haven't found the right one. If we cannot blocks these IPs, the vandal will be able to use them again soon. I wish we could check the list ourselves, but people oppose a checkuser in Vietnamese Wikipedia.

I'm really sorry that I have to ask you guys to check this long list, and I totally understand if you say it is too much to do. If you check only a part of the list, I would still really appreciate. Many thanks. Tmct 18:07, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

Rubi64

Copied from [5].

I am requesting a checkuser to confirm that I am, in fact, not Benutzer:Rubi64, as is claimed by single-purpose account user:Jorrit-H [6], and would appreciate appropriate measures against user:Jorrit-H. Guido den Broeder (talk) 22:27, 15 April 2008 (UTC)

Regards, Guido den Broeder 07:40, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

Comment Comment: I deferred this case to meta from w:en:Wikipedia:Requests for checkuser/Case/de:Rubi64, due to the multi-project nature of it. If possible, I'd imagine it would be appreciated if some sort of notification back (although it's likely I'll keep an eye here, but just in case) regarding the results, perhaps on the case page, or on Checkuser-l, so action can be taken by the appropriate persons. Anthøny 08:55, 16 April 2008 (UTC)
Note also my alert at [7] about a group of people 'discussing' nl:Wikipedia events on en:Wikipedia. Regards, Guido den Broeder 10:51, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

Hopefully, this request is not forgotten? Guido den Broeder 07:52, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

We don't check such things, since it is non-urgent and there are local checkusers on both projects. Please note that checkuser can not confirm non-identity. --Thogo (talk) 08:22, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
Forgive me for not understanding. I was sent here because local checkusers cannot make this check. If the global checkuser does not confirm that the IP's are the same, does it not follow that they are different? Guido den Broeder 10:00, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
The local checkusers can't help this one. All we are looking for is whether or not those are likely the same user. Stifle (enwiki admin) 10:43, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
Why can't they help? They could easily communicate with each other. All of the dewiki checkusers speak English and two of them are regularly available on IRC, so why should that be a problem? --Thogo (talk) 11:14, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
Just to give the perspective of the de: checkusers: While requests for this kind of confirmation are entirely understandable coming from users who are wrongly accused of sockpuppetry, we don't grant them, simply because it is not possible to make such conclusions with certainty based on the output of the CheckUser tool, and because such requests could easily be abused by deliberately generating misleading "evidence". See also the Checkuser on yourself to "prove your innocence" part in the Unacceptable requests section of en:Wikipedia:Requests_for_checkuser.
Besides, with regard to this specific case: Someone from en: might correct me on this, but it appears to me that these accusations of sockpuppetry do not have gained significant credibility in the en: community anyway (see also en:User talk:Jorrit-H), were off-topic for the debate they were made in and had no decisive influence on its outcome, and were not used to justify any administrative action against the suspected users. Regards, HaeB 23:21, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
So this is obviously  Declined. --Thogo (talk) 16:06, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

Inconclusive Inconclusive. Konrjs has used an open proxy (67.159.44.24), so it is somewhat possible that these are the same, but there's simply not enough evidence. As for the previous ukwiki checks, no, these don't seem to be related to them. And in the future (and I hope there will be no need in the future :) ), please use a separate sections, so as to be clear whether your requests has any relations to the previous ones (in this case, I didn't conclude whether this request had any connection to Цуценятко case or not, so I checked just to be sure). --FiLiP ¤ 17:49, 22 May 2008 (UTC)

김종국@kowiki

Considering IP user's recent vandals on the calendar pages at Korean Wikipedia, 김종국 who often claims the change of the calendars is suspicious of editing the calendar pages anonymously on purpose. IP user's edits were in accord with 김종국's own claim. Please let me know whether they are the same user.--Goodgood 11:19, 28 March 2008 (UTC)

This looks like fishing to me. Can you, please, give a more detailed and reasoned explanation regarding the requested check? --FiLiP ¤ 11:15, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
Oh, I'm so sorry that it looked like fishing to you. That was absolutely my fault and I was too hasty then. Well, 211.214.13.147 at Ko Wikipedia's consistent vandals on the calendar pages like [8], [9], [10],[11], etc...which claimed ko:식목일(Arbor Day in Korea) is still holiday in Korea and vandals at the user pages like [12], [13] offended all Ko wikipedians. BTW, the content that IP user claimsed on the calendar pages are very similar to 김종국 at Ko Wikipedia's [14] which claimed ko:식목일(Arbor Day in Korea) is still holiday in Korea. But now Arbor Day is no longer holiday in Korea since 2006.(you can confirm it in the ko:식목일) Moreover, 김종국's userpage wrote: 법령이 개정되었다고 하던데 난 절대로 이 법령 받아들일 수 없다.(translation:I cannot accept the amendment of the holiady law). Those are reasons that I suspect they are the same user.--Goodgood 09:42, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
Confirmed. Yes, it is highly likely that those are the same users. --FiLiP ¤ 17:27, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

Alefbet@fawiki and آقایی@Fawiki in fa.wiki

Hi, I would like to request for a checkuser on the two users, Alefbet and آقایی and 142.206.2.12 seems to be one person and i think they are playing with the system so i want to be sure that you are not same person--Mardetanha talk 19:23, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

You think so?! Many people may think many things. What was the proper reason for asking checkusers? What was the incident of possible abuse? Alefbe 14:40, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
Inconclusive Inconclusive. There's not enough evidence to prove that these users are or are not the same. --FiLiP ¤ 20:18, 16 April 2008 (UTC)
Before checking my account and the account of آقایی@Fawiki, you should have asked for a proper reason. Checkuser is not for fishing. Alefbe 14:40, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
Thanks--Mardetanha talk 20:20, 16 April 2008 (UTC)
Alefbe: There's nothing to discuss here, as this request is closed. If you want to personally discuss with Mardetanha, please do so on his own talk page. es:Drini 15:22, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
I'm not discussing the result of user-checking. I'm saying that in giving information, checkusers should follow CheckUser Policy. Are you saying that stewards can violate this policy and nobody should mention it? There wasn't any proper reason for checking my account and User:Dungodung shouldn't have done that. Alefbe 16:06, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
The policy was followed. What point do you think was not? No private information was released. es:Drini 16:09, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
The policy was not followed in the first place. There was no proper reason to check the accounts and User:Dungodung shouldn't have done that in the first place (Checkuser is not for fishing). Alefbe 16:16, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
What part of policy wasn't followed, I ask again? Tell me what section or paragraph. es:Drini 16:19, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
This part. Alefbe 16:20, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

The tool is to be used to fight vandalism, to check for sockpuppet abuse, and to limit disruption of the project. It must be used only to prevent damage to any of Wikimedia projects.

Alefbe suspected playing with system, checkuser proved there was no evidence. ok

The tool should not be used for political control; to apply pressure on editors; or as a threat against another editor in a content dispute. There must be a valid reason to check a user. Note that alternative accounts are not forbidden, so long as they are not used in violation of the policies (for example, to double-vote or to increase the apparent support for any given position).

Dungodungo wasn't controlling politically the wiki nor threats were made. ok

Notification to the account that is checked is permitted but is not mandatory. Similarly, notification of the check to the community is not mandatory, but may be done subject to the provisions of the privacy policy.

It was a public request, nothing to hide. However it's not mandatory a notidication. ok

Some wikis allow an editor's IPs to be checked upon his or her request if, for example, there is a need to provide evidence of innocence against a sockpuppet allegation; note, however, that requesting a checkuser in these circumstances is sometimes part of the attempt to disrupt.

It wasn't a self-request, so it doens't apply. ok

Therefore, Dungodungo did not violate the policy. es:Drini 16:24, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

So you mean that stewards can check any account, just based on a baseless request by another user? Alefbe 16:36, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
sorry i am bit late for answer. Before requesting i had talked with some other fawiki sysop then apply the request.and if you can see here some month ago another sysop of fawiki have been SUSPICIOUS to this user and chekuser may found here.so i think no policy has been violated .Thanks for your attention.--Mardetanha talk 17:56, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

I consider this harassment. This is the second time that Meta has performed a Checkuser on me and User:Alefbet on groundless basis. Disagreement over content cannot be used for Checkuser, in this case I have not even edited the same article as the other user in question. In addition User:Mardetanha has just closed my account on the Persian Wikipedia for content dispute, and has clearly used this tool as leverage for pressure. --Aghayee 17:08, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

Peterng@zhwiki and Felixpl@zhwiki

This doesn't look like a good enough reason for a check. Can you, please, elaborate? --FiLiP ¤ 22:34, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
Not done while the problem seems to be over and check-user involves privacy concerns.--Jusjih 02:56, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
Changed my mind. This request involves allegation to increase the apparent support for a given position in the Chinese Wikipedia namespace talk page. Based on the check, at the time Peterng gave three barnstars to Felixwpl, both usernames share the same IP.--Jusjih 21:28, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

IPs@thwiki

The article about Thai Royal Family has been vandalized (see history) by some IPs such as 124.121.48.242 or 124.121.47.60. I would like to know that if I may check that this IP is User:Donuttowanoon, which is in the discussion with steward. I wonder if he vandalized that, so we can prevent it happen again. --Passawuth 11:10, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

Findings

The block log there suggests that username "Donuttowanoon" and the like have been blocked and unblocked several times, but this username is associated with dozens of IPs 118.172.20x.xxx but not 124.121.48.242 or 124.121.47.60 as you have mentioned here. However, 118.172.202.166, 118.172.200.143, and 118.172.201.168 mentioned in the Spacebirdy talk page are found not associated with Donuttowanoon there. I hope that my check has answered your concerns while I do not think it needed to check dozens of IPs 118.172.20x.xxx.--Jusjih 00:41, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

Pidor01@ukwiki

Repeated vandalism attacks under following usernames:

thank you for help. --Gutsul 08:43, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

Findings

Out of the listed users, the 3 following don't seem to be related to the rest (and among themselves):

There are, however, two distinct groups of users. Nothing so far suggests that the two groups are related (CheckUser-wise; I don't know about the edits patterns). The users within the same group are most definitely sockpuppets of one another.

Group #1:

Group #2:

These two lists mention all of the users from the original list (save for the three that I excluded at the beginning), but there are also some other accounts that haven't been spotted before, I assume. I hope this helps. --FiLiP ¤ 10:15, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

Orroz@itwikiquote

User:Orroz is a vandal, a puppetmaster on it.wikipedia. On it.wikiquote, he inserts a lot of false quote and he was blocked; there are two users with the same name of this list, can you check if these users are sock of Orroz?

This vandal is probably a sock of Jolly Joker:

Thanks, and sorry for my english! :) Dread83 17:23, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

Only Orroz edited in the last months, the other accounts were used only in 2006. CU is not possible after 3 months. And there are no other accounts affiliated to Orroz (within the last 3 months). --Thogo (talk) 17:37, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

Update: please, check Orroz with the new User:Trinco tozzo rio violetto. Thanks. --Dread83 09:24, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

Why do you think it's Orroz? This user is not on the itwp sockpuppet list. --Thogo (talk) 09:56, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
Ok, it's only a my doubt. He ask info on Orroz and he want to insert quotes from the same source of Orroz, possibly fake. Maybe, it's only a coincidence; if it's not enough, i return when i have the evidences. Thanks. --Dread83 10:12, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
You could simply block him, if he doesn't do useful stuff. (I see, his only edits were on user pages. So if he continues with that you could just block him.) --Thogo (talk) 10:17, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
Done Orroz and Trinco tozzo rio violetto are the same user. There are further new accounts/an editing IP that are also the same user: 81.211.159.119, Scorpio84, Il Greco. --Thogo (talk) 16:30, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

Well, if it's already blocked there is no need to check. ;) Do you have other accounts under suspicion? --Thogo (talk) 14:10, 20 May 2008 (UTC)
Yes, User:Minnesota Boy. --Dread83 18:26, 21 May 2008 (UTC)
Confirmed. --Thogo (talk) 17:54, 22 May 2008 (UTC)

Again... Minnesota Boy wanted to be renamed in "Yellow Man". Now there is the User:Red_Women. On it.wikipedia i find this. All "colored people"... This is not only a coincidence: Green Boy has an edit related to "I tre moschettieri" (The three Musketeers) and on Discussioni utente:Lupoegiziano on Wikiquote we have 2 messages related to "The three Musketeers" from 2 IP of the range 81.211.*.* (Orroz's IP range). Now, please check user "Red Women" on it.Quote and "Green Boy" on it.Pedia. Thank you very much. --Dread83 13:09, 1 June 2008 (UTC)

Update: I have requested a check on Pedia: Green Boy and Yellow Girl are sock of Orroz, and now are blocked. Check Red Women. --Dread83 15:15, 1 June 2008 (UTC)
Done and  Confirmed. --Thogo (talk) 15:21, 1 June 2008 (UTC)
Ok! Thanks a lot! --Dread83 17:12, 1 June 2008 (UTC)

Clara C. (pt.Wikipedia)

The following discussion is closed.

My name is Fred Xavier and I'm sysop on Wikipedia in Portuguese. Sorry for my poor english. Bring this request here because we currently have only 2 checkusers in our project and a third will be chosen in a election. Also, the user to be checked is very known in the community and it could bring endless discussions.

Between September 2006 and the full year 2007, the Portuguese Wikipedia was attacked by a group of users of the website Think Finance, whose objective was the use of the project to promotion. Practically all the community was attacked, except some users who supported this group and their actions. All the acts of vandalism was done using sock puppets and proxys.

Well, pt:User:Clara C., defended these users, strengthening the action of them. This practice still exists, promoting personal persecutions.

Recently, I found a sock puppet of the user pt:User:Clara C., called pt:User:Categorizador. In this link, the user Categorizador complete the comment/opinion left by Clara C.:

The user Clara C. visibly uses two accounts, pretending to be two different people: one to edit normally, one to attack other editors.

Another detail: there is an account called pt:User:FlaviaC that many sysops believe to be a sock puppet too. If this is true, FlaviaC has been used to influence elections. See here

I therefore ask that the checkuser is made under the "ClaraC.". Then, we know which sock puppets were used by Clara C. and if there was abuse in the use of these socks.

Thanks! Fred Xavier 13:22, 8 May 2008 (UTC)

Please note that CU is not for fishing. Thus, if you have two accounts and some evidence that they are used by the same person, we can check this, but we are not allowed to search for sockpuppets ourselves. So, what we could do is to check if Clara C., Categorizador and FlaviaC are likely to be the same user. If you have other suspicious accounts and evidence for it to be related to Clara C., please list them and the evidence. Additionally, please send your two ptwiki checkusers here or to the checkusers' IRC channel that we can talk to them before. --Thogo (talk) 14:52, 8 May 2008 (UTC)
Thank you, Thogo! I know that CU is not for fishing. Then, I agree with the verification (checkuser) only on the 3 accounts listed. Fred Xavier 15:27, 8 May 2008 (UTC)
Well, it's necessary that either the two CUs whom ptwiki has elected, come here and request themselves that we do the check instead of themselves, or you must provide *very* good reasons that they are not able, willing or allowed to check. And we need more evidence. For example diff links where one of these accounts attacks other users, and so on. --Thogo (talk) 15:31, 8 May 2008 (UTC)
I have had conflicts with the UC en:user:Nuno Tavares. The other CU, en: user: EPinheiro, who was indicated me to the sysop tolls. I do not want to be raised suspicions against them.
I don't understand what you mean. Please elaborate. --Thogo (talk)
I do not trust in Nuno because I had conflicts with him. Fred Xavier 16:53, 8 May 2008 (UTC)
Some diffs:
Clara C. is neither mentioned on that page nor has s/he edited there. --Thogo (talk)
Lucpilla = Clara C. Fred Xavier 16:43, 8 May 2008 (UTC).
None of the abovementioned accounts has edited there. So what evidence is that? --Thogo (talk)
Lucpilla = Clara C. Fred Xavier 16:43, 8 May 2008 (UTC).
This is not a diff link, I will not read all the page to search for what you mean. --Thogo (talk)
OK. Fred Xavier 16:43, 8 May 2008 (UTC) </smal>
Thogo, is it necessary to cite more diffs? Thanks! Fred Xavier 16:05, 8 May 2008 (UTC)
Yes, it is. The two postings on Mschlindwein are from Clara C., where is your evidence that Clara C. and the other mentioned accounts are from the same person? --Thogo (talk) 16:20, 8 May 2008 (UTC)
Thogo, here, Categorizador complete the comment/opinion left by Clara C.
The users Clara C. and FláviaC living in the city of São Paulo, Brazil. The nicknames are similar. Here, for example (and other pages), the two acounts write in a similar fashion, characterized by aggression. Fred Xavier 16:35, 8 May 2008 (UTC)

Thogo, will be my request rejected? Fred Xavier 16:49, 8 May 2008 (UTC)

One of the 2 local pt checkusers MUST come and say we carry the check. Any of them. They don't confirm, we reject. es:Drini 17:07, 8 May 2008 (UTC)
OK. Fred Xavier 17:31, 8 May 2008 (UTC)

As I mentioned in other instances, I will, of course, recuse from performing any checks myself. I had asked Fred Xavier to talk to the local ptwiki CheckUsers before making the request before the Stewards, but also that he could come straight here, if he could make a strong-enough case that it would not be possible to have this processed locally under any circumstance.
I have also performed several Oversight actions on pt.wiki, which were justified, due to situations stemming from the general malaise on pt.wiki caused by this entire conflict. Fred Xavier did not cause the situation that forced the use of Oversight.
In addition, in the event Stewards process this request, I will offer to perform any necessary translations of comments or other content edits made on ptwiki, in order to make it possible for non-Portuguese speaking Stewards to grasp context in any edits.
I suppose this is all I can do myself regarding this request. Redux 21:46, 8 May 2008 (UTC)

I Support Support this request. Epinheiro 09:03, 9 May 2008 (UTC)

I will Oppose Oppose to this request, since the user Fred Xavier is clearly fishing for more conflicts. User Fred Xavier is sustaining a long date conflict with a group of users that didn't support him in other occasions, and I personally find this quite oppressing for the community well being.
Regarding the request as is, it lacks the most basic requirement: demonstration of illegal conduct. All presented diffs show us the same person, indeed Clara C. and her former nickname, who has asked to have her name renamed, as Fred Xavier (and everybody else) knows. There is nothing illegal about that, nor the provided diffs proved anything illegal that support a CheckUser.
Risking to get a little off-topic, I can't remember any conflict with Fred Xavier except for a single one, say.... more than a year ago? I'm terribly sorry that Fred got the impression I have any issue with him. I only keep bad memories from persistent behaviours. And lately, indeed, I'm finding too much strange behaviours from Fred. I hope they don't get persistent, for everybody's sake. Nuno Tavares 01:00, 11 May 2008 (UTC)

This is the reason to bring the request for the Meta because I have imagined the opinion of Nuno. The user Clara C has conflicts with a lot of users, as her user page shows, including me. Fred Xavier 02:04, 11 May 2008 (UTC)

We have not had a third CU. We have not had a third opinion/decision. Fred Xavier 02:07, 11 May 2008 (UTC)

Declined, since the premise was: if all pt.wiki cu agree, which is not the case. Also I would like to remember all those who are involved, that checkuser does not solve such problems in the community, it can't wipe away personal problems or emotions, I would like to ask all involved parties to calm down, sit down and talk. Fred, please accept the decision of the local cu, thanks, best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 06:44, 11 May 2008 (UTC)

I don't understand the decision becausa Drini says: "One of the 2 local pt checkusers MUST come and say we carry the check", and not "all". Well, the suspicion about the accounts and the attacks of the user Clara C. will continue, unfortunately... Fred Xavier 14:43, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
You have local checkusers that do such jobs, if they decline to cary out the request, it is their decision, thanks, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 18:30, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
  • Thank you for the right decision. I was alerted by another user that this Fred Xavier was complaining here about me. Unfortunately, me and Fred Xavier have some different opinions about some stuff. But I could never imagine he was doing such thing. I can consider myself as a new user and I do not have the slightest idea of who ClaraC is and why he is her enemy (and I must confess I'm not interested on their conflict). I'm really surprised that he could get to this point just because we disagree on some subjects. Thank you all again for the good sense.201.81.25.104 19:56, 11 May 2008 (UTC) FlaviaC

66.96.208.69 @ fa.wiki and other wikis

I and User:Hessam suspect that 66.96.208.69 is a proxy (maybe an "open" proxy, maybe one that is not publicly open but is being abused) so we request a checkuser for this IP on fa wikipedia. (This request is primarily on fa wikipedia, because it looks like the IP is used for hosting several Persian websites) Huji 22:20, 18 July 2008 (UTC)

Checkuser can't reveal if an ip is a proxy or not (and if it is, it won't reveeal the IP of the true fawiki username that's posting). There are several online tools and sites to detect the presence of an open proxy. es:Drini 22:24, 18 July 2008 (UTC)

Please check fa:User:Amirali2006. There are some concerns over sockpuppetry as the user only has 10 total edits. This is a very close RfB so it affects the outcome. He might be using open proxies as well. There are no CheckUsers at the Persian Wikipedia and this vote affects the outcome. Thanks! --Kaaveh Ahangar 21:06, 17 July 2008 (UTC)

Though i am not against the CeckUser but i want tell it wont affect the outcome.voter should have at least on hundered of edits before any RFA or RFB--Mardetanha talk 21:34, 17 July 2008 (UTC)
Done Checkuser done; outcome negative or unclear. Amirali2006 had edited on 3 days each time from a different ip address, not within the same or similar dynamic ranges. None of them has been used by another user. - Andre Engels 22:23, 17 July 2008 (UTC)

Vandals at ja.wiktionary

Please check newly created accounts above. We suspect that they are sleeper accounts of regular vandals, posting nonsense and/or insulting (racism, ableism, scandals, etc.) almost everyday. We may have to take some countermeasure, such as to complain at the ISP, to block the IP range, or so. Thank you. --Kanjy 13:05, 10 July 2008 (UTC)

Hi, Kanjy, is this the same type of vandalism as on ja.wikisource? I'll have a look, best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 15:17, 10 July 2008 (UTC)

But does not look ja.wikiquote related.
Best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 15:51, 10 July 2008 (UTC)
winkThanks! a lot! We blocked them. The vandal on ja.wikisource seems a cross-wiki vandal (probably from Aomori Prefecture, Japan) across all ja, beta.wikiversity, species, ko.wq and zh.wq; but seems different from this request. The ja.wikiquote vandal (requested by Kzhr and Aphaia below), seems yet another type, often comes to ja.wikipedia, consists scandals such as n:船場ふなば吉兆きっちょう経営けいえい再建さいけん断念だんねん廃業はいぎょう (Semba Kitcho Corporation to give up revitalization to close down their business). Thanks again for your prompt check. --Kanjy 17:49, 10 July 2008 (UTC)

Thanks, birdy, really helpful. I'd like to send a report to its ISP. Can I get the ISP information? Thanks, e-Goat 10:00, 12 July 2008 (UTC)

That should be done in accordance with Mike Godwin, if You believe it is already time for a complaint at the ISP please contact Mike (per email) with the necessary information, I will then provide him with the data of the ISP and IPs and timestamps. Best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 13:58, 14 July 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for your advice. We, jawikt sysops, have a discussion about this way. e-Goat 15:31, 17 July 2008 (UTC)
A bit late, could you please release the data to checkuser-l? The reason I say, as eG noted, the vandal on JAWQ had a similarity around his interest in the scandal of 船場ふなば吉兆きっちょう. I suspect they are compromised by a same person ... While eG isn't there, Kanjy as JAWP CU is on the list, so we can talk further without breaching any Foundation policies? Thought? --Aphaia 19:21, 28 July 2008 (UTC)

These users created article on suspected people in Japan with no quotes. The former is under an assumed name of the suspect itself. When they are from open proxy, please simply block them (or inform me). When either or both of them are not from open proxy, in order to contact ISP(s), please inform me their IP(s) which is not from open proxy. Regards, Kzhr 18:32, 5 July 2008 (UTC)

Hi, I don't understand why they need to be checked, please explain. What kind of abuse is happening here? Besides, if they will be checked their ISP will normally not be published. Thanks, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 10:35, 7 July 2008 (UTC)
They seem to be a series of vandal sleeper accounts with offending content. Their naming convention strongly suggest relation and their interest, if you can speak Japanese and keen to news in Japan. We've seen everyday our project vandalized and I feel sorry to see this request left unprocessed. The name of ISP is necessary for us to send them a report with which they warn the person(s) behind these vandalisms (it works sometimes in Japan). Thanks. --Aphaia 18:19, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
Hi, the request is not left unprocessed, I just wanted more information. I will have a look now, thanks, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 19:01, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
Confirmed, same users, no open proxy, no sleepers, all accounts had been blocked.
If this continues I can give You the range in private to block. Please know that this could also affect good users. Best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 19:16, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
(P.S. please don't be upset, but I have to ask for more information if the check does not look clear for me. To understand each other we just have to be patient with each other, kind regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 19:22, 9 July 2008 (UTC))
Thanks for your checks. I'll be mostly off line this month so I recommend Kzhr to contact you if it continues. And thanks for your understandings, too. --Aphaia 19:36, 9 July 2008 (UTC)

Andolos@fa.wiki

Please check fa:User:Andolos. There have been concerns over sockpuppetry at an RfA there, and user is likely a sock based on the fact that he/she hardly has any edits, and most of them appear to be on user talk pages. 2 users in mlwiki

The following discussion is closed.

I request a checkuser on the following users in Malayalam Wikipedia. ml:User:Sidheeq,ml:User:Bluemangoa2z.I suspect these accounts creating other multiple accounts to heat up the discussion and creating some unnecessary pages in wikipedia with out logging in. If possible please provide the IP addresses that are used by these accounts. Thanks--Anoopan 16:10, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

Unlikely Unlikely, I remember having checked both users in other connections, see archive Steward_requests/Checkuser/2008, if they are causing so much trouble to ml.wiki You might want to find another solutino (checkuser can't solve all problems), like banning them by the community or something. Best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 16:35, 12 June 2008 (UTC)
ml:മലപ്പുറവുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട ചൊല്ലുകളുടെ പട്ടിക see this page(page is already removed). This is started by the IP 78.93.157.66 . This page is unnecessary in the context of wikipedia. I suspect they are creating such kind of pages with out logging in and heating up the discussion. These suspected IPs have created lot of similar pages and most of these and its talk pages are deleted. Moreover they are using dynamic IP's to edit Wikipedia articles. ml:User:Bluemangoa2z is blocked for 1 month because of these kind vandalism and heat up the discussion,Thanks --Anoopan 16:57, 12 June 2008 (UTC)
Sorry, I understand the problem, however that does not change the outcome of the checkuser. To use a dynamic IP is no crime of the user btw. blame their isp.
I won't give out the users IPs, sorry. Best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 09:29, 18 June 2008 (UTC)
Blocked the IP ranges for a year - no other option since IPs from this range (suspected to be used primarily by the above two users and their socks) have been abusing users whose identity is public and insulting on their personal lives. Gaius nepos@nowiki

The following discussion is closed.

Please check the following users: Bruker:Soundgarden, Bruker:Linkins Parkl, Bruker:MDSD, Bruker:HEIHEIHEIHEIHEI, the IP 80.212.230.157 (admits sockpuppetry here) and Bruker:Pearl Jam. We suspect that they are all sockpuppets for Bruker:Gaius nepos. We have earlier had a checkuser on Gaius nepos and he and his sockpuppets were blocked. Now we fear he has begun again. The suspicions has circulated on the no.wiki admin list and includes a good article nomination with a following vote from a sockpuppet, creation of a new wiki project (first thing done my newbie) followed by more sockpuppets suddenly subscribing to the project, talking on each other's talk pages and getting answers within ten minutes when user has been off for many months etc. User Pearl Jam was created straight after this mess and the first thing he did was subscribing for this non-advertised wiki project. Please see category for suspected socketpuppets for Gaius nepos.

Just to give some links proving their connections.

Thanks in advance, --EivindJ 21:31, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

Comment Comment — The sockpuppeteer has now come clean, and after a discussion with Jeblad there has now been established an agreement with the sockpuppeteer to use one nick, and all the other userpages now redirect to no:user:Superunknown. In addition to en:user:Wellwater Conspiracy (see Kjetil’s link), the users commons:User:Gaius nepos, commons:user:Tiberiusw and most probably commons:User:NirSouAud are also sockpuppets. 2 users in tewiki

Status:    Done

This is in regard to my RfA in tewiki (Voting in progress). I suspect that two people who voted against me are socks. Both the accounts were created after the voting started. The users are te:User:Gopikrishna123 and te:User:మౌర్యుడు‎. The second one has been used only to vote against me. Also the second user name is very closely linked to a disputed heated discussion in which I participated. I am not sure who is the puppeteer (I do not want to accuse somebody) but is it possible to check all the active users and find the puppeteer? Sai2020 04:59, 28 April 2008 (UTC)

Gopikrishna123 and మౌర్యుడు‎ are unrelated. Gopikrishna123 is likely to be the same user as రవిచంద్ర. --FiLiP ¤ 09:41, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
Can we block Gopikrishna123 and రవిచంద్ర? మౌర్యుడు is not a sock at all? I believe strongly that he is a sock. Some suspected IPs 59.92.51.94 and 117.198.194.235 causing vandalism on my RfA page. Sai2020 10:53, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
What you do with the information I gave you is for your community to decide. As I said (or failed to say, hence implied), మౌర్యుడు doesn't seem to be anyone's sockpuppet, judging by the CheckUser tool. That doesn't mean it's 100% sure that he isn't anyone's sockpuppet. It's just that I couldn't determine that he was, with the data at hand. --FiLiP ¤ 11:17, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
What I meant was that "Is there enough evidence to block them?" Cos you said "likely to be". రవిచంద్ర is an established user and an admin too. Sai2020 11:38, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
I cannot, in good faith, tell you what to do. But seeing as it's highly probable that those are the same users (although one cannot say with 100% certainty), I'd request an explanation from the administrator and perhaps a desysopping procedure. But then again, it is your community and it is up to you to decide. --FiLiP ¤ 11:54, 28 April 2008 (UTC)

Hello, I did a check but right now I can't see abuse here. If You could explain that further please, why the account is abusive. Is the name so unique that it can't be taken by another one? (also probably the ja.wiki user should better activate SUL).
If there is no further information, marking this as Done, best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 10:07, 14 June 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for your works. They are informative and enough now. We will treat this issue as an SUL.
The name is not ordinary but also not unique, e.g. same as 'Electric goat' or so, someone might name coincidentally, and the user has not abused so far. But the style, contents and sense of the userpage are similar to the jawiki one, and Japanese sister projects have a series of account squats recently, so I requested CU. On the next few days, a new user was created "Surachart". He uploaded a new version of pictures which is very ugly one. He also changed text in the opposition article of Thaksin, making it less neutral. I have been thinking, in fact, that this user must be a sockpuppet. The same things happened before. The accounts are: ru:User:VirginiaRules ru:User:!MaiBan ru:User:Parrots ru:User:Popinjay ru:User:NSB ru:User:WaiFai2 ru:User:!WaMu Thanks. SA ru 00:59, 16 July 2008 (UTC)

Declined. MaxSem is a trusted user. RU-wiki has local checkusers. Therefore this won't happen unless all ru-wiki checkusers would agree that an external cu, steward, performs this action. Thanks, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 09:35, 16 July 2008 (UTC)
MaxSem is not a checkuser at ru_wikipedia. He is a steward here, but I personally do not trust him. Thanks anyway. Since ru_wikipedia checkusers did not find any match with my IP I take it as a confirmation of this result. SA ru 10:07, 16 July 2008 (UTC)
I did not say he was, I just said he is trusted. And said that all these would have to agree to this. Since You found another solution anyway this request is closed, thanks, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 10:09, 16 July 2008 (UTC)
Myndir, I did not say that I found another solution. The best is to have these accounts checked by any steward except MaxSem. I have a long conflict with MaxSem and the other guys whom you pointed to. Actually, I am not even a participant of ru.wikipedia exactly because of multiple conflicts with the administrators. However, I would like to put it clear that I have not edited ru.wikipedia for many months. This is why I need a confirmation by an INDEPENDENT steward. MaxSem is very closely connected to all these people, including a participation in the semi-commercial foundation "Wikimedia RU" that uses Wikipedia brand for commercial transections. I do not see any point in getting me checked by any of these guys or even in getting their permission. Why? What's the point? Someone created these sock puppet accounts, these guys are claiming that they are mine without any bit of proof. Don't you see that an inspection by an independent steward is needed? SA ru 13:13, 16 July 2008 (UTC)
  • Let MaxSem do this this check or any other steward. User ru:SMARTASS has no edits during last several months in ru-wiki and the check may approve or decline the assumptions about these vandals in ru-wiki. Serebr 10:53, 16 July 2008 (UTC)
    • Unfortunately, I have absolutely no trust in MaxSem. He is very closely related to certain groups in ru_wikipedia, so he may leak private information. I do not understand what is the problem in checking these accounts? You can check my current IP, as well. Just do not reveal it. If there is a person here whom I can trust I can even discuss the internet providers that I use (in privacy, of course). As I said these sock puppets have nothing to do with me. Kftsang hk, Hkmyhome and Ericng @zh.wikipedia

These three users have similar editing preferences in Railway Vehicle Articles. The latter 2 are suspected to be sockpuppets of Kftsang hk for long, which help to support Kftsang hk's point of view in the discussion of article naming of railway vehicle articles (suspects 1.5 years ago, which is before my first edit in zh.wikipedia). With Kftsang hk and Ericng are involved in the large-scale railway vehicle article movement 2 months ago (please refer to the editing history of the two users, Kftsang_hk's editing history and Ericng's editing history ), I would like to ask for checking whether these 3 users uses the same IP (Kftsang hk and Ericng recently and among 3 user accounts in Nov 2006 if possible). • 219.57.12.41 and Miyazaki make out-of-project creation on the betawikiversity project. We have make alert on its talk page (without response) thinking that the IP and the account are the same ( ip from 23/07/2008 - 23:49 CEST to 24/07/2008 - 00:41 CEST and account from 24/07/2008 - 02:33 CEST to 27/07/2008 - 01:12 CSET, account under block since 28/07/2008 - 05:01 CEST for 1 week). So the question is : are they a relation between the account (so its creation) and the IP ?
  • Just before this block, a new account was create (藤原ふじわら紀香のりか) by Miyazaki (28/07/2007 - 03:34 CEST) and use to make another Out-of-project creation. This account was block 28/07/2008 - 05:00 CEST and add some explication on its talk page
  • 29/07/2008 - 07:33 CEST and 08:06 CEST, two another account was created (藤原ふじわら紀香のりか2 and Miyazaki2, without modification under IP juste before, but this account make same out-of-project modification that the 2 blocked account. So the question is are they a IP-relation between there account.

de.wikiquote - Bingobongo

The following discussion is closed: done

Users to check

Reasons for performing the Checkuser

  • If Bingobongo and Britta Meese should represent the same person, it is aparent, that this person does intend to disrupt the project. He tries to provoke by inserting quotes of low quality, reverting them with his other account and waiting for administrators or other users to revert again - an be proven wrong.
    • Entering a quote by "Britta Meese" [19]
    • Removing the quote by just questioning the valididy of the source [20]
    • The identity of these accounts would show that there is an agenda of disturbing the project by this user. It would lead to blocks of the users and other possible sock-puppets.

  • If Meeresfrucht an Bingobongo were identical, Meeresfruchte would be an account to circumvent blocks:
    • Bingobongo was blocked from 2.-5.July and 9.-16. Juli (blocklog)
    • Edit by Meeresfrucht (see also contributions above) : [21]
    • Circumventing blocks by sock puppets is considered abusive at de.wikiquote.
  • Many edits from the named range had to be removed as they did not adhere to de.wikiquote guidelines.

Plausibility

Why it is plausible, that the named accounts are sock puppets operated by the same person:

  • The articles edited and the topics of quotes chosen are similar, see contributions above
  • q:de:Benutzer:Meeresfrucht seems to confirm, that he is Bingobongo, after he got an information [22] about the running Checkuserrequest on his discussion page: "Ja, das bin ich." ("Yes, I am that."). [23]
  • q:de:Benutzer:Britta Meese is an apparent sock puppet:
    • Starts editing just in one article that just was tagged as non-neutral
    • Knows how to format quotes properly
    • Knows the function of the neutral-tag, removes it.
    • No anwers to my request to add a source to one quote that was inserted
  • Bingobongo is with high probability identical with users at de.wikiquote which were blocked there due to sock puppet abuses:
    • Reference 1: de:user:Rosa Liebknecht:
      • Inserting a quote at de.wikipedia by Xaver Beimdiek March 5, 2008: [24]. The quote was removed as being inapropriate / not relevant
      • Xaver Beimdiek was shown to be a sock puppet of user:Rosa Liebknecht by Checkuser: [25]
      • The same quote was inserted at de.wikiquote the same day by q:de:user:Bingobongo: [26]
    • Reference 2
      • w:de:Benutzer:Kodeldey inserts a reference to Wikiquote. [27] at 21:15, 27. Jun. 2008
      • Corresponding Article was edited by Wikiquote user Bingobongo directly afterwards [28] (deleted article, can only be viewed by administrators/stewards) at 21:19, 27. Jun. 2008
      • Kodeley was shown by checkuser to be a member of a sock-puppet-zoo and blocked indefinitely: [29]
    • It has been proven that Rosa Liebknecht has created hundrets of sock puppets and used them even for discussions with himself, for example with the account de:Benutzer:Mycroft Holmes.

The discussion "with himself" would fit well into the typical patterns of Rosa Liebknecht. Therfore, a sock-puppet abuse seems to by very plausible.

Reasons for Checking the Range

The topics edited and the quotes that were submitted all show typical components and topics of Bingobongo / Rosa Liebknecht.

Please do not publish acutal IPs of Bingobongo, but the range - as well as possible "sleeping accounts" from the same range or accounts from the same range, that edit similar topics - as q:de:user:Meeresfrucht, (see contributions above) would be of intrest in order to prevent future creation of sock puppets.

Possible human references

I suppose the de.checkusers, de:Benutzer:Bdk, de:Benutzer:Elian and de:Benutzer:HaeB could be helpful as they are familiar with this user.

As well and. Please check Rlagmlrn4u and 이승주천재샐러맨더개새. Separately, check 이승주천재샐러맨더개새 and Salamander03. Salamander03 09:07, 8 August 2008 (UTC)

Well, I must say this was a peculiar case. Neither Rlagmlrn4u nor Salamander03 control 이승주천재샐러맨더개새 (judging by the CheckUser analysis). However, I found that Ss2003 is probably the same as 이승주천재샐러맨더개새. During my check, I found out the following:

  • Harpuia = Okw1003, and they are likely connected to Ss2003 = 이승주천재샐러맨더개새
  • Rladudwhd = Rlagmlrn4u = Jc065
  • Salamander03 = Komosi

Now, maybe these are just duplicate accounts that you use freely and I don't want to get in the way of that, but I just feel that I should provide the CheckUser evidence, since you seemed quite antagonistic (=accusing the opposing party) and so sure that the other user is the sockmaster. --FiliP × 11:53, 9 August 2008 (UTC)

Benutzer:Weissmann@de.wikinews and IP 89.149.244.184

The following discussion is closed.

Concerning the one day block of Benutzer:Weissmann at de.wikinews (22 Aug 2008), the user Weissmann left de.wikinews and there occurred suddenly the IP 89.149.244.184 (contributions) claiming that Benutzer:Franz who did the block had abused his sysop rights and also made an entry on a user page of user Berliner Schildkröte who had been proposed by Benutzer:Franz for a possible candidate to become an administrator at de.wikinews. Could you please check if there is a connection between the two of them?

It would also be good to know whether there is no connection with IP 89.149.244.184 and Benutzer:Berliner Schildkröte@de.wikinews, but since it is not possible to really exclude connections I will probably not ask for it, at least if the first case (which I think is more likely to show a connection) should have a "positive" result.

--Angela H. 10:17, 28 August 2008 (UTC)

Hello Angela, I must say I would tend to mark this as  Declined it is not forbidden to edit logged out and the IP seems not to have used it to vandalize or edited while that user was blocked. Atm. I don't see a good ground for a check, also I must say I can't see the problem, the IP even edited the userpage of the Schildkröte, so it just seems it is him, I would just assume he got logged out or if he does this intentionally contact him in private and try to explain to him, that this is not an exceptable behaviour if he wants to express his opinion he should stand to his words and not hiding behind an IP (that is what I think personally). Best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 14:11, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
Hello, Spacebirdy! Thank you for your reply. I could explain more about my reasons for not thinking that it is User:Berliner Schildkröte, but maybe we should first wait and see what else the IP and the other users mentioned here are doing at de.wikinews or not, and come back here if necessary. Regards, --Angela H. 14:39, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
Now, i would like to add another username to that picture and that is HoH@dewikinews. This account was created a few days after user Weissmann was blocked. It was then used for some minor edits and on the next day out of sudden started a new discussion on our Pressestammtisch about the block (which was then 4 days ago). While its not impossible it seems unlikely that this would be a really new user. Now Weissmann is apparently known for creating tons of sockpuppets, so this might be one of his speaking in favor of himself. I believe using a sockpuppet to create the illusion of support for a position is considered sockpuppet abuse so in result i believe the checkuser policy allows to check if HoH@dewikinews and Weissmann@dewikinews are the same person. I therefore request to do this check. -- Kju 18:19, 28 August 2008 (UTC) (PS: One interesting detail i just noticed: User Weissmann requested deactivation of his account a few hours before HoH's first edit. That might be a coincidence as well, but it makes the case even more suspect) -- Kju 18:35, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
JFTR: 89.149.244.184 is a proxy server which is blocked at english wikipedia. I have now blocked it a german wikinews as well. So there is no point in checkuser with that ip. -- Kju 18:46, 28 August 2008 (UTC)

After a lengthy discussion about the edit disputes, he said to left wikipedia (on his userpage). Couple of days later a user named ko:Daco made similar edit disputes. After I reverted the damage, he left. About a week later, he created another account name ko:정우익2, claming he has forgot password for the first account he created. Also after creating edit disputes, he said to left wikipedia (on his userpage). Then he created another account name ko:정우익3, stating he forgot passwords for two proceding accounts he made. Also after creating edit disputes, he said he will leave wikipedia forever by writing a lengthy excuses. A couple of weeks later in August, user named ko:Daco created similar disputes, and left immediately after I recognized the pattern of his edits.

From 1j1z2's talk page I know that sombody proposed to check my IP. I have a question, do you judge a person by his identity or by what he or she edits? The Sage Confucius says: “君子くんし以言举人,以人废言” (いんじん废言,いんごと废人,Do not reject saying just because you dislike the speaker, and do not reject a person just because you dislike what he or she said.). what's the related policy of Wikipedia? My opinion is that everyone is equal to edit the encyclopedia which claims itself to be free, open, and with neutral point of view, and even a criminal should be granted equal opportunities to edit the encyclopedia. It should be very prudential to charge and confirm a person to be a user that vandalizes the encyclopedia. I've checked many of the above users, how can you say they were vandalizing the wikipedia? It seems that your only motivation is that they have different views with you, and against yours, and you tie up to prosecute them as pagans: cut their throats and throw them out of the so called open and neutral wikipedia. -Dicting 14:08, 19 September 2008 (UTC)

I think the user demonstrates very suspicious activity. There seems to be a massive case of sockpupetry/meatpupetry on Lombard Wikipedia. Measures to resolve this problem had been contested at this rfc. Among the people contesting is User:Quantum who happens to have fewer than 100 edits on lmo.wiki. His first edit here was this. Where he found the RFC right away. This is the kind of edit pattern meatpuppets use. In the case of LMO wikipedia there is a large group of users with fewer than 100 edits that are defending each other right now. In addition they all seem to be proficient in English which seems quite odd. -- Cat chi? 17:29, 18 September 2008 (UTC)

In addition to the above user User:Lombard also caught my attention. On lmo.wiki his first few edits were creating a userpage which linked to a meta userpage he created the same day on 1 September 2008. This is something you wouldn't expect a new user to come up with. In addition although the user has a decent amount of contribution, most seems to be bot like edits. His fourth edit to meta.wiki was this on 2 September. -- Cat chi? 17:38, 18 September 2008 (UTC)
These were the first two I pulled out off my list. I bet there is more. -- Cat chi? 17:38, 18 September 2008 (UTC)

The following discussion is closed.

It seems that Bluemangoa2z@mlwiki & Sidheeq@mlwiki are same. Both the users voted in this page in mlwiki on 13-Oct-2008. Please check and confirm --Vssun 12:04, 13 October 2008 (UTC)

Hello, just because they voted on the same day does not justify a check, can You please explain further why You think that these users are socks and why You think they are doing votestacking, thanks, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 13:27, 13 October 2008 (UTC)

It is the Burauecrat election voting page of mlwiki. I think this is the only justification I can provide on this matter. Also we dont have checkusers in our local wiki. Thank you. --Vssun 04:49, 16 October 2008 (UTC)

Until English Wikiversity has local CheckUsers again, the stewards will have to fill in. Moulton has been blocked indefinitely (pending community review), and has disrupted the project by editing by IP (several /16s were blocked to prevent further disruption; I re-blocked with some finer-grained ranges, but without CU it was difficult to target properly), and has now moved back to accounts. We're looking for any further socks to block, and also to determine the best rangeblocks to place. Thanks.  — Mike.lifeguard | @en.wb 15:04, 18 October 2008 (UTC)

Hello, the rangeblocks are good, the socks found are already blocked, namely:
I would only change the range of 14.....0.0/19 to /17 or maybe better: 14.....64.0/19 to /18
And the 68.162.. to 192.0/18
Best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 15:54, 18 October 2008 (UTC)

Tag2000@vi.wiwki

The following discussion is closed.

User: vi:User:Tag2000

Suspected: vi:User:Eset.

Code: D and G

Tag2000 registed and then begin voting soon after 2 edits. He did nothing but discussing and vote. I suspected he is a sockpuppet of vi:User:Eset because vi:User:Eset has used sockpuppet for once (vi:User:Cucon1988) but the commmunity has forgiven him. However, the first topic that Tag2000 disscussed one of farvourite topic of Eset (vi:Talk:Tôn Đức Thắng). He definitely not a new member.

In vote for deletion (Biểu quyết xóa bài), Tag2000 always supports vi:User:Eset's point of view [59][60][61]

If you can, please check Tag2000 carefully and tell me how many sleeper he has got or who his sockmaster is. This is a serious case on Vietnamese Wikipedia, there too much sockpuppet in the mean time. Magnifier 14:57, 22 October 2008 (UTC)

Internet with dynamic IPs in Vietnam is too hard for checkusers to decide... Anyway, thank you very much for your work. Magnifier 23:27, 22 October 2008 (UTC)

Please check User:Bananaman, User:Mrunao365 and User:Limdetamon if they were sock puppets of User:Universehk. Accounts have repeatedly adding contents in the same article which is not suitable for wikipedia.--Moddlyg 06:40, 27 October 2008 (UTC)
