Hello! We voted some months ago to have adminship for User:Theklan, User:KRLS and User:Xabier Cañas eta eu.wikisource, but I see now that we didn't ask for it here, as I can't do my regular admin stuff there. The discussion is here. Thanks! -Theklan (talk) 22:43, 25 August 2019 (UTC)

I only see the previous discussion from 2018. Ruslik (talk) 06:03, 27 August 2019 (UTC)
@Ruslik0: You're right! But we didn't vote to have admins for one year and it seems that the decission wasn't implemented, as I need now some permits for deleting items and I can't. -Theklan (talk) 17:42, 27 August 2019 (UTC)
It was, of course, implemented and your permission has already expired. Ruslik (talk) 13:32, 28 August 2019 (UTC)

What if they reopen the request for a week or two? Trijnsteltalk 23:07, 26 August 2019 (UTC)
If local policy does allow such a thing then okay. A week ago two users got promoted to CU on thwiki and exceeded the mandatory minimum 25 votes. —MarcoAurelio (talk) 09:01, 27 August 2019 (UTC)
@G(x): Is it an option to reopen this request so you can try to get more votes, required for the CU policy? Trijnsteltalk 19:31, 27 August 2019 (UTC)
The local policy do not specify the fixed number, but make reference to "appointment by consensus" as per CU policy (which itself requires 25-30 affirmative votes). We are discussing the option whether to keep the vote open for a little bit longer (it has been opening for a month) or to close the nomination and reopen. Since the discussion has not formally been closed, I suggest putting the appointment on hold until the end of the month, after which we will report back whether we can gain enough affirmative votes or that we need to close the nomination and reopen. Thanks. --G(x) (talk) 02:15, 28 August 2019 (UTC)
There are 24 votes in affirmation (one made after the referral of appointment here), which is not likely to satisfy the requirement. Please close the request for now; we are discussing whether to reopen immediately following this or to suspend the new nomination for now (as per adminship renomination practice in Thai Wikipedia), and both options are not likely to result into the outcome in the near future. --G(x) (talk) 16:40, 1 September 2019 (UTC)

Benoît Prieur@fr.wikipedia

The user Benoît Prieur has demanded the French sysops to block indef his account. I should have asked it earlier, but I ask for the removal of his access as CU. For the French ArbCom, Cbyd (talk) 19:06, 11 September 2019 (UTC)

@Cbyd: But he is currently not blocked. Doesn't that make a difference? I don't understand why a block means a CU should resign. Trijnsteltalk 19:20, 11 September 2019 (UTC)
He asked himself to be blocked and the French sysops apparently agreed. We are in a phase of renewal of the CU and OS on the fr-wiki and I thought that this user should not keep his access. Why should he keep any CU access if he does not want to do anything on the wiki ? The ArbCom can, in such a phase, decide to destitute a CU, can't he ?--Cbyd (talk) 19:37, 11 September 2019 (UTC)
Yes, but a block doesn't automatically qualify for removal of rights. Besides: the block was also lifted per his request. And is this a request of the arbcom as a whole or individually by you? Trijnsteltalk 19:49, 11 September 2019 (UTC)
Your answer made me check with the sysops : he changed his mind and one week later he received his access. In the meanwhile, I asked him if he still wants to be a CU. The answer is no. And for the last question, this is an official request of the ArbCom. Thank you for your promptitude ! --Cbyd (talk) 19:58, 11 September 2019 (UTC)
@Cbyd: One final question: you don't happen to have his confirmation on-wiki? Or perhaps he can confirm it here? Trijnsteltalk 20:05, 11 September 2019 (UTC)

Iliev@bg.wikipedia

Dear Colleagues,

Please remove my sysop privileges on the Bulgarian Wikipedia. There's a lot of wikistress accumulated around the closing of the Bulgarian Wikinews, and some users on that project have been suggesting that I was acting in bad faith. Accordingly, I feel that I need to step back from the projects for at least some time. This should help me better reflect on the service that I've strived to provide to the Bulgarian wikicommunity for some years, and I've also already asked the community to possibly re-elect me as a sysop on bgwiki. The latter also means there's no need to wait, not to mention that in case of on-wiki emergencies I could still use my sysop bot, PSS 9 (I'll ask separately for its and JSS 9 privileges to also be revoked if the community decides to not entrust me with such responsibilities again). And just to make sure no miscommunication happens: I'm asking to have revoked only for my personal sysop privileges on the Bulgarian Wikipedia; please do keep these on the other projects (for now), as it would be impractical to ask the community to vote there too.

Thank you very much,

Григор Гачев@bg.wikinews

See Proposals for closing projects/Deletion of Bulgarian Wikinews, SRM#HIGH PRIORITY: Closure of Bulgarian Wikinews and phab:T233322. Bulgarian Wikinews is being closed. As a first step, sysadmins are locking wiki for all but sysops. However, this sysop needs to have those rights removed so that the other sysop on the project can carry out some cleanup. Then the wiki will be locked outright. This deflagging should happen promptly. Thank you. For LangCom: StevenJ81 (talk) 16:18, 23 September 2019 (UTC)

Why do this particular sysop need to be removed? Ruslik (talk) 16:47, 23 September 2019 (UTC)
Details can be found in the three links I provided above. This wiki is now locked to all users except stewards and sysops. It will soon be locked outright, even to sysops, and eventually functionally deleted. However, before that happens, some of the contents of the wiki have to be deleted or marked as possible policy violations. Григор Гачев has opposed the closure and the removal of this information. In order to allow the remaining sysop to take care of this without risk of interference, Григор needs to be deflagged. Please understand that as soon as the other sysop completes his work (one week?), the wiki will be locked to him, too. User:MF-Warburg can confirm. StevenJ81 (talk) 17:34, 23 September 2019 (UTC)
as soon as the other sysop completes his work (one week?)
It may very well be just an hour (I'd be more than happy to be finally relieved from the burden of this project). There are ~1200 articles that have been voted for deletion, but they are in a single category and it should be easy to delete them via the API. Then there's just one more article to be deleted manually. Copyright may be trickier, and probably I would prefer to not even deal with it, but that's something that will likely be discussed on Phabricator.
— Luchesar • T/C 18:50, 23 September 2019 (UTC)
  • I don't understand. Is this request based on the assumption that one sysop is going to perform some action that another sysop would wheel war on? Nemo 19:08, 23 September 2019 (UTC)
Yes. But it's a short-term event; the whole wiki is going to be locked as soon as this cleanup is complete. If you want to leave this for MF-W, or not do it at all, perhaps this cleanup will be completed quickly, and then we can just lock the whole wiki entirely. But we'd prefer not to make Luchesar rush. Please remember, this is not an ordinary situation. This is the first non-trivial project closing in about five years, and there is not a whole lot of precedent to go on. In fact, I devoutly hope we're not really setting any precedents, and that this is simply a one-off. StevenJ81 (talk) 19:14, 23 September 2019 (UTC)
Just to be absolutely clear on this: if the stewards would prefer doing the cleaning, I'd be even happier. That being said, I think that I still would have the right to close that voting myself, given how I've been elected by the community in accordance with the project rules. And while this is of secondary importance here, I feel it would be right to remind that the project RfA rules do require “7 days [of voting where] there is unanimous agreement on an application, [for] the respective user [to] be granted administrative rights”. Yet the other sysop has never been voted according to these rules—and unlike also the previous applicants, not just me recently. So, at least the way I see, it is not a simple “one sysop versus another sysop” situation.
— Luchesar • T/C 19:31, 23 September 2019 (UTC)
If the above concerns aren't enough, the sysop have written articles that have infringed BBC articles and copied press releases from other sources (see discussion). Moreover, he created a Meta-wiki RFC in attempt to challenge the consensus made at bg.wn. George Ho (talk) 03:30, 24 September 2019 (UTC)
Done Ruslik (talk) 05:06, 24 September 2019 (UTC)

Iliev@bgwikinews

Please remove my sysop rights on this project per the discussion above. The project will soon be fully locked with only you (i.e. the stewards) and the system admins having further access, anyway, and my rights are going to expire on 11 November, but I feel it would be most appropriate to not postpone revoking my sysop rights too. I definitely don't have anything more to do there after the small cleanup, so there's probably no need as well for the standard 24 hours delay.
Thank you!

Oh my Jcb, I like rules as much as you, but are you really going to milk your admin bit for a few more hours? The de-adminship discussion was closed by a Wikipedia administrator (so, trusted user), locked by a Commons administrator (1989) and just for kicks, I recounted the votes and yes, the outcome is correct. There is only one vote that might be questioned due to low edit count (Special:CentralAuth/らくごう), but even that one seems valid. Wouldn't matter anyway, nearly all voters are autopatrollers or admins. We have the requirement of a bureaucrat closing/endorsing the vote to make sure nobody can lose their bit because of voting fraud with socks. Clearly, no such thing has happened here. What's really poor is that Jcb deleted files after posting here. Jesus Christ Jcb, this is pathetic. Alexis Jazz (ping me) 15:23, 26 September 2019 (UTC)
@MarcoAurelio: Jcb's statement is factually wrong. Commons policy does not require a bureaucrat to confirm the vote. Sebari – aka Srittau (talk) 15:46, 26 September 2019 (UTC)
@Sebari That's correct. Just re-checked to confirm. However the process is the same as an RfA, so I feel a bureaucrat should be certifying this somewhat, even if like I said at EugeneZelenko's talk page at commons everything seems prima facie alright, and as Alexis Jazz mentioned above as well. I checked the last successful de-RfAs at commons and bureaucrat closing is the practice. Krd confirmed me is going to make a comment here soon. Sorry for the apparent bureaucracy. I just want to be sure and avoid issues afterwards. —MarcoAurelio (talk) 15:52, 26 September 2019 (UTC)

Yes. Wong128hk said not opposing the proposal and Alberth2 accepted the proposed removal. We may still discuss temporary uploading importers later. Thanks.--Jusjih (talk) 03:11, 26 September 2019 (UTC)

-import done. Those who have transwiki keeps their transwiki because it was not specified in this request. — regards, Revi 01:59, 27 September 2019 (UTC)

Theghaz@dewiki

Theghaz didn't start a re-election of his checkuser status (re-election modus and timeline, his explanation). Please remove both his checkuser and admin status. Theghaz is not an elected admin, he became the admin bit just for his checkuser job. --Funkruf (talk) 23:17, 28 September 2019 (UTC)

Done, best regards. —MarcoAurelio (talk) 11:49, 29 September 2019 (UTC)
