Tokidoki Bosotto Russia-go de Dereru Tonari no Alya-san

Seirei Academy is a prestigious school attended by the very best students in Japan. Alisa Mikhailovna "Alya" Kujou, the half-Russian and half-Japanese treasurer of the school's student council, is known for her intelligence, stunning looks, and rigid personality. Contrasting her near-flawless persona, Alya's unmotivated classmate Masachika Kuze slacks off during lessons and seems to show no interest in her.

Initially irritated, Alya gradually becomes more intrigued by Masachika and starts expressing her affection for him in Russian. However, she is oblivious to his secret—he understands the language fluently! Due to a childhood friend who was temporarily staying in Japan, Masachika has been studying Russian in hopes of reuniting with her.

As the two spend more time together, the playful and eccentric relationship between them quickly deepens. In the meantime, both must learn to navigate their new growing feelings for one another.

Nice anime, sure it's not that interesting anymore like the 1st half, or more like how it could be, chyracters started to be flatter and less ,,real" during the series, but it was still pretty funny, especially in dub. Yuki is probably the best character here. Kuze and Alya had potential, but it's just not it, they relationship is still cute enough tho, so I give it a pass. It would be better if there wasn't any election and they ended up together at the end in this season and in the 2nd one we could more explore relationship.

Btw I hoped they'd turn the ... ,,mind games" between Yuki and Masachika into a joke, as a otaku reference, than Kaguya-sama or death note wannabe. I wish they won't turn Kuze into another Ayanokoji, Yuuichi, Light ect.

Mixed Feelings

This anime has a great start and has the charm to keep the audience hooked and wanting to keep watching it till the end.
With beautiful characters, great graphics, and voice actors that suit their respective characters.
From all of these advantages, I think this anime deserves a score of 8 and above, if only there was no OSIS conflict in the story.

Honestly I feel confused with this anime, why include the OSIS conflict towards the end?
In fact, it would be better if this anime continued to focus on the romantic comedy presented in the early episodes.

Every anime definitely has its own advantages and disadvantages, and in ... my opinion the disadvantage of this anime is in the storyline as I mentioned above.
But that doesn't mean this anime is bad, it's still very suitable to watch and enjoy, I wrote this because I was just disappointed with the storyline that led to the conflict.

TLDR: Potential wasted.

The whole premise of the series; speaking Russian while the boy secretly understands, is basically underutilized while the rest of the show is an almost standard romcom, hence the 5 rating. The all-too-common tropes are in there. Honestly, there is nothing fresh beyond the first episode. The sound, voice acting, and animation is fine. The story is uninteresting because...it's been done a million times before. The characters are boring, so you don't get invested, again because it's been done a million times before. I kept watching because I was hoping some fresh would happen, but it didn't. If you're a romcom fan, I ... guess it's worth a watch to get your fix but it is not worth the time imho.
