Synopsis

A teenage race car driver named Speed goes on adventures with his girlfriend, his candy-crazed brother whose best friend is a monkey, and his mysterious brother Racer X (Real Name: Rex). His father, Pops, created the car he races in, the Mach 5.

Background

The first volume of Mach GoGoGo was first published in English as Speed Racer Classics by Now Comics in 1988. It was again released by DC Comics as Speed Racer: The Original Manga in July 2000. Digital Manga Publishing released the full series as Speed Racer: Mach GoGoGo as a 2-in-1 hardcover volume collector's set on April 15, 2008. It was also published in Brazilian Portuguese by NewPOP Editora in July 2009.

Mach GoGoGo is pretty fun. This is your classic short manga from the 60's. With only 10 chapters, you can read it in about an hour or two.

While the plot wasn't terrible and the story was interesting, Mach GoGoGo features one of the most egregious moments of reusing manga/plot that I've ever read before in a manga, with the exact same panels, locations, and lines being reused for two different chapters. It was so bad that I thought my scan was messed up and I was reading an earlier part again.
