Another exceptional horror by manga-ka Junji Ito. While Tomie was some of his first work, we are here treated to better art and darker, more horrific subject matter and ideas. The story takes place in a small sea-side village where a girl named Kirie starts to notice strange behavior and occurences in her town, all having to do with spirals(uzumaki), an unstoppable and irrisitable menace. I don't really want to ruin any of the stories here, as the whole creepy charm of this story comes from not knowing what to expect storywise, but I can say that it is full of gruesome, macabre stories and  read more

Both the stories are disturbing horror masterpieces that make you want to scream/cry/throw up. And both Jisatsu Circle and Tomie are very deep, psychological stories that are works of fiction that feature very real issues. Jisatsu Circle was more on the profound side and Tomie was more on the gruesome side, at least for me.

The villains have similarly terrifying abilities and the type of horror matches well. If you liked one, you'll probably like the other.

Detailed artwork that depicts quite a bit of graphic body horror. Neither title holds back on the grotesque. Tomie is mostly a series of independent stories that all revolve around the title character, a mysterious girl who keeps coming back to life (and sometimes multiplying) even after being chopped up. Franken Fran is a mostly episodic manga (some stories take place over multiple chapters, but most chapters are self-contained stories) about a constructed girl, Madaraki Fran, who performs just about any type of surgical procedure to save her patients (as long as they can pay for it, she'll do almost anything asked, no matter how  read more

Both are horror stories that center around characters that become involved into supernatural event that may be very lethal from them. Both feature girls that cannot be defeated easily (Tomie replicates herself from a single cell, and we all know about Sadako).

Both mangas have a female main character who is envied by her beauty, but while Tomie's plot takes an sobrenatural (somentimes kinda ridiculous) course, Helter Skelter have a more serious take about issues like self steem, depression and beauty standards .

Femme fatale of supernatural origins guides/baits men into unfortunate end. Though beware that Yoruko-san is not only a horror, but also hentai.

Both manga tell supernatural stories about a mysterious person who brings only despair and suffering to everyone arround him. Tomie focuses more on a femme fatale character, while Lovesick Dead tells the story of an enigma, whose chilling fortunetelling always comes true.

Both feature gorgeous girls as the protagonists Their beauty is so magnificent that men fall in love easily with them Both protagonists are immortal and are reborn many times

Another great horror story from Junji Ito. Doppelgängers main character's are also important here.

Both have extraterrestrial creatures disguising as humans Both have female main characters that change the lives of other characters Both have unsettling scenes

Build around the episodical life of the protagonist and how they keep attracting those people of opposite gender and those people keep meeting gruesome end. The protagonist themselves are of course tragic too. Both are manga by Junji Ito.

Collection of old-school horror manga stories. Both have girls as the protagonist and the theme of being targeted becase the character's beauty is also a theme for both of these manga.

Both are episodic horror series about immortal characters and the horrifying actions they and those around them are driven to. Tomie is more about the depths of depravity explored by those who have met the immortal Tomie whereas Mermaid Saga's creepiness more often comes from the desperate actions taken by those seeking immortality themselves, but the slowly revealed disturbing situations often take a similar tone; in particular the Mermaid Forest story really reminded me of Tomie.

Both series feature as the main female protagonist, and title character, a "zombie" high school girl. They are fairly different series in that Tomie focuses more on the horror aspect and features a fair amount of body horror, and Tomie doesn't so much as come back as a zombie as she simply . . . keeps coming back for various reasons even after being killed, while Sankarea is more of a slightly comedic romance between a girl who wants to die and be reborn as someone else (and ends up becoming a zombie as a result) and a boy with a fetish for zombie girls.

If you enjoyed the macabre horror of Gyo, especially in Volume 2, then you'll enjoy Tomie. The entire story is made up of non-stop horrifying situations all caused by a single woman, which is similar to all of the terror caused by the walking fish in Gyo. Tomie is Junji Ito's usual excellent work, so Gyo fans won't be disappointed.

Both are strange, short-ish horror series from masters of horror manga, about a sinister young woman/girl who torments everyone she comes into contact with.

While Tomie features a supernatural, immortal-like girl who gets involved and causes misery to everyone, Orochi features a supernatural, immortal-like girl who accidently gets involved and tries to help people out of their situation using her powers. The art is almost identical, and the way the mangaka shows every story in an episodic nature is similar.

Girl is killed by her classmates and cut in parts, yet she keeps coming back to life to bring unfortunate end to others, as sort of a revenge.

An all-consuming, intoxicating lust for young teenage women with moles beneath their left eyes. That is what these two are about. Tomie is an episodic series built around a regenerating monster of a seductress that ruins any male she encounters. A horror series about the ultimate narcissist, basically. Lament of the Lamb revolves around an incestuous, vampiric bond shared between a previously separated brother and sister; the brother needing to drink his sister's blood. The line between 'sister' and 'lover' gradually becomes distorted by the sister's mature / strange allure.
