The Informatics and Data Science Center (IDSC) is a hub for science-driven informatics innovation, collaboration, and support at NMNH. It aims to enhance NMNH's data ecosystem and network of information, both locally and globally, to better share NMNH's collections with the world and to position NMNH as a global leader in natural history informatics.

NMNH in GBIF

The world-class collections at NMNH are an invaluable resource to scientists studying the natural world. In order to maximize the use of NMNH's data, IDSC shares it with repositories like the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF). There, scientists can use biodiversity records contributed by collections across the world to accelerate their research.
