WEST HOLLYWOOD, CA — Despite another snub for lead actor Robert De Niro, Netflix's mob drama "The Irishman" earned four Screen Actors Guild Award nominations Wednesday, tying it with "Bombshell" and "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" for the most among motion pictures.

Ironically, De Niro -- who was also snubbed for a Golden Globe Award nomination on Monday -- will be presented with a Life Achievement Award during the 26th annual SAG Awards ceremony Jan. 19.

De Niro was nominated for a SAG Award Wednesday as part of the ensemble cast of "The Irishman." The ensemble cast honor is SAG's equivalent of a best picture Oscar. "Bombshell," the drama about the Fox News sexual harassment scandal, and Quentin Tarantino's period piece "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" were also nominated in the category, along with the satirical World War II comedy "Jojo Rabbit" and the South Korean social satire "Parasite."

Notably absent from the ensemble cast category was Netflix's "Marriage Story," despite the film earning lead acting nods for Adam Driver and Scarlett Johansson and a supporting-actress nomination for Laura Dern.

With De Niro absent from the lead actor category, Driver will be challenged by Christian Bale of "Ford v Ferrari," Leonardo DiCaprio for "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood," Taron Egerton for "Rocketman" and Joaquin Phoenix for "Joker." DiCaprio is scheduled to present De Niro with the Life Achievement Award at the SAG ceremony.

Johansson was joined in the lead actress category by Cynthia Erivo for "Harriet," Lupita Nyong'o for "Us," Charlize Theron for "Bombshell" and Renee Zellweger for "Judy."

Johansson was also nominated for best supporting actress for her work in "JoJo Rabbit." Along with Dern, Jennifer Lopez of "Hustlers" and Nicole Kidman and Margot Robbie of "Bombshell" round out the category.

Al Pacino and Joe Pesci were both nominated for best supporting actor for "The Irishman," along with Jamie Foxx for "Just Mercy," Tom Hanks for "A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood" and Brad Pitt for "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood."

"The Irishman" also scored a nod for outstanding stunt ensemble in a motion picture, along with "Avengers: Endgame," "Ford v Ferrari," "Joker" and "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood."

The SAG honors, which are voted upon and awarded by actors, are generally considered strong indicators of how things will go on Oscar night, but they are also coveted by performers as a sign of peer recognition.

On the small screen, meanwhile, Amazon's "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel," which swept the SAG Award comedy series categories in January, led the list of television nominees Wednesday with four nods.

The show was nominated again for ensemble cast in a comedy series, along with HBO's "Barry," Amazon's "Fleabag," Netflix's "The Kominsky Method" and Pop TV's "Schitt's Creek."

"Maisel" star Rachel Brosnahan and her co-star, Alex Borstein, were both nominated for best actress in a comedy series. Recent Emmy winner Phoebe Waller-Bridge was also nominated for her work in "Fleabag," as were Christina Applegate for Netflix's "Dead to Me" and Catherine O'Hara for "Schitt's Creek." Brosnahan won the SAG Award in January.

Tony Shalhoub, who also won the SAG Award in January for best comedy series actor, was nominated again for his work in "Maisel." Michael Douglas and Alan Arkin both earned nominations for their work in "The Kominsky Method," along with Bill Hader for "Barry" and Andrew Scott for "Fleabag."

NBC's "This is Us," which has won the SAG Award for outstanding drama series ensemble cast two years in a row, was snubbed in the category this year. Nominations went instead to Hulu's "The Handmaid's Tale," Netflix's "The Crown" and "Stranger Things" and HBO's "Game of Thrones" and "Big Little Lies."

Sterling K. Brown of "This is Us" was nominated for best drama series actor, as were Steve Carell and Billy Crudup of the Apple TV+ series "The Morning Show," Peter Dinklage for "Game of Thrones" and David Harbour for "Stranger Things."

Helena Bonham Carter and Olivia Colman both earned nominations for lead actress in a drama series for "The Crown." Jennifer Aniston was nominated for "The Morning Show," while Jodie Comer received a nod for BBC America's "Killing Eve" and Elisabeth Moss for "The Handmaid's Tale."

The nominations were announced at a 7 a.m. ceremony in West Hollywood by America Ferrera and Danai Gurira. The 26th Screen Actors Guild Awards ceremony will be held Jan. 19 at the Shrine Auditorium.
