2006: After earning first team All-Big East for the second consecutive season, Revis elected to forego his senior year and declare for the NFL Draft...is the first Pitt cornerback to be selected first team all-conference twice since Hank Poteat, now a member of the New York Jets, accomplished the feat in 1998 and 1999... semifinalist for Jim Thorpe Award (nation[apos]s top defensive back)...named to the Rivals All-America Team (third team) as a 'utility' player...a dynamic athlete who displayed the ability to make dazzling plays each time he touched the ball...his 73-yard punt return against West Virginia was selected the 2006 'College Football Play of the Year' by ESPN...on the play Revis fielded the punt on a bounce, cut all the way across the field and then weaved through several potential tacklers up the sideline to reach the end zone...also returned INTs for touchdowns in each of the first two games this year...had a 57- yard return for the game[apos]s final TD at Cincinnati and a 19-yard return for a score vs. Virginia...finished the season with 39 tackles, four TFLs and four pass breakups...had 22 punt returns for 190 yards (8.6 avg.) and a TD.

Personal: Darrelle Shavar Revis, born 7/14/85, is the son of Diana Gilbert and Darryl Revis...has one brother and one sister...is the nephew of Sean Gilbert, the former Pitt (1989-91) and Aliquippa High standout who went on to a decade-plus career in the NFL, including stints with the Los Angeles and St. Louis Rams, Washington Redskins, Carolina Panthers and Oakland Raiders...social sciences major.
