They do no business and Horatio Dazzle, the manager, insists that Hamlet ought to be fixed up so he will draw audiences and please them. The show strands; he explains to Frost that he is going to put on a revised Hamlet. Beatrice McGillicuddy recites, "Curfew Shall Not Ring Tonight;" everybody tells her she ought to go on the stage. Dazzle, who heard her and knows that her father has got money, tells her she must join his company as leading lady and play Ophelia. She gives up her job at the restaurant and takes the engagement. Having a free hand he rehearses Hamlet to suit himself. Hamlet, as revised by Dazzle, is a novelty. The Ghost does a song and dance with six little ghosts. Polonious wears a plug hat and does a magic act. Instead of being garbed in white trailing robes, Dazzle has Beatrice make up as Yum Yum. The show makes a hit until Beatrice forgets her lines and starts to recite "Curfew Shall Not Ring Tonight." Then things happen. The local policeman lowers the asbestos curtain and it catches Frost by the neck, pinning him to the stage where he is an excellent target. When he is released he is the center of attention from a tar and feather bee. He joins his company as they are starting walking home he feeling like a feather bed.
