Fun talk:Nevada

OK, since I got reverted I figured I ought to talk about this before making another edit. Also, I logged in because even though I hardly edit, I do still have an account and stuff.
I live in Nevada, and I can assure you it is pronounced "ne-vad-duh," not "ne-vah-duh." Wikipedia confirms this. It's true that the original Spanish was pronounced "ne-vah-duh," but that pronunciation has long been abandoned.
I can't remember our policy on this, but I'd like to re-add my edit, because it's really annoying to hear my state mispronounced and the more people who know the correct pronunciation, the better. So if there's no objection, I'll re-add it. Wehpudicabok (talk) 02:28, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
- I reverted it because it seems rather pointless and out of place to anyone outside of Nevada. i9 02:45, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
- Fair enough. Wehpudicabok (talk) 06:40, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
- "ne-vad-duh" is only pronounceable with a stutter mid-word. ħuman 02:59, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
- I included the extra "d" only to change the vowel sound of the "a". You don't actually have to say both "d"s. Wehpudicabok (talk) 06:40, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
- Then why not "ne-vad-uh"? PS, who cares, again, exactly? ħuman 06:47, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
- Well, it sounds like the "d" is on the final syllable, but that part doesn't make that big of a difference. But most of Nevada does care about the "a" sound, because it's really obnoxious that a majority of people outside of here can't even say it correctly. I've even seen commercials and T-shirts that emphasize the correct pronunciation. It's just a pet peeve, and if you guys don't want it in the article, that's fine. - It's ok, just try to get the phonetic thing exactly right? As in Or-a-gun... ħuman 02:42, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
