SAFETY ORGANISATION

Role of safety organization

To sensitize all safety category / train passing staff in Safety related issues.


·To identify Safety related susceptibilities and vulnerable locations where 

    infringing safety

·To have effective emergency response mechanism arising due to untoward incidents

·To enable the concerned dept. to deliver the required assistance during emergency

·To adhere to the golden hour concept to rescue the trapped/ injured during accidents

·To create safety consciousness among the staff through suitable counseling

·To issue literature and update the knowledge of field staff

·To fix the responsibilities of erring staff and correct them to avoid recurrence

 


AIM of safety organization:-

To achieve ‘Zero’ accidents on Indian railways duly keeping eagle eye on the train operations.

Safety Organization of GTL division is concentrating on the areas where attention is required and working on the issues to improve safety without hampering train operations. Moving nuke and corner of the division to identify the shortfalls and to rectify them as and when noticed through the respective departments. The staff knowledge is being updated on the changes/modifications/amendments in their day to day working through Safety circulars, Rule of the month, Fly leaf, Accidents Newsletters, conducting Safety Seminars, safety drives and during inspections.

The alertness of (on duty) staff being monitored on daily basis by conducting Night Surprise Inspections and ambush checks by officers and supervisors to avoid sleeping on duty, short cuts etc thus ensuring safety.

Though with all our efforts accidents are still happening due to the negligence of road users which are out of our control. The Safety organization with available infrastructure are conducting safety campaigns at various locations and educating the public/villagers on motor vehicle act duly distributing Pamphlets, posters, NukkadNataks, through local networks etc.

At the Divisional level Safety Organization is headed by Sr.Divisional Safety Officers. Supervisory level staffs from all concerned departments are available for providing assistance at Divisional level.
