Chow Yun-fat SBS (born May 18, 1955), formerly called Donald Chow,[1] is a Hong Kong actor and singer. He often worked with John Woo in the action movies A Better Tomorrow, The Killer, and Hard Boiled. He also acted in Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, and has acted in many drama movies.[2]

His parents were farmers and poor. He grew up on an island without electricity.[3][4][5][6] While in college, Chow began training to become an actor with TVB.
