About SAT 2024
What is SAT exam? A standardised test widely used for admission into undergraduate courses in abroad countries specifically for the United States and Canada. The SAT exam is administered by the College Board. The College Board is a non-profit organisation that conducts the SAT test to assess a student's readiness for college.
The SAT exam full form is the Scholastic Assessment Test. The test primarily evaluates a student's mathematical, verbal, and writing skills. The SAT registration can be done online through the official College Board website. Earlier, the SAT exam was a pencil-paper-based test, however, the College Board scrapped this format last year and introduced SAT Digital which is a computer-delivered format.
The SAT exam is taken by high school students who plan to enrol in an undergraduate program abroad. Usually, high school juniors and seniors (classes 11 and 12) take the SAT test to seek admission at a foreign university. The SAT 2024 is an accepted exam for admission to many schools and universities based in the United States, Canada, Australia, and many popular study destinations of the world. Even, many Indian universities also accept the SAT for admission into their undergraduate courses. SAT test provides colleges with a common data point that can be used to compare the academic preparedness of applicants.
What is SAT Digital?
Since March 2023, the digital SAT has been administered to all international students excluding US. From spring 2024, the digital SAT has been administered by all students - international and US students. This change aims to ensure that all students, regardless of their location, can benefit from a more modern and efficient testing experience.
This SAT is conducted seven times a year across 30 Indian cities, and hosted in more than 50 partnering institutions. What sets the SAT Digital exam apart is its streamlined nature; it takes 2 hours and 14 minutes to complete. Notably, the SAT Digital exam is one hour shorter compared to its previous version. Adding to the convenience, students are now allowed to bring their own laptops or iPads to the SAT test centres.
What is same in Digital SAT and SAT?
The written SAT exam was scored on a 400 - 1600 point scale, the Digital SAT has also been scored on the same scale. Also, the test will be administered by proctors at official test centres and students who require accommodation will get the same support with an option of a paper test.
SAT Digital Exam Pattern
The SAT Digital exam consists of two main sections: the reading and writing section and the mathematics section. Each SAT exam section is scored on a scale of 400 to 800 marks, with a potential total score of 1600 marks.
Importantly, SAT scores are calculated and reported based on individual section scores, providing a detailed breakdown of a student's performance in each area. This comprehensive scoring in the SAT system allows both students and colleges to gain valuable insights into a test-taker's academic strengths and weaknesses.

Question : Read the passage given below and answer the questions/complete the statements that follow by choosing the correct options out of the given ones.
The old man was overjoyed when he heard of the invitation. He became nearly incoherent with joy. He was torn between the attraction of the offer and shyness. For the first time, Srinivas observed that the man could be moved by shyness. "No, no, I never eat anywhere. Oh, don't trouble yourself about it... No, no ..." he said but all the same, got up and followed Srinivas into the kitchen. He grinned affably at Srinivas's wife and commented flatteringly: "I have always told a lot of people to come and observe this lady for a model. How well she looks after the house. I wish modern girls were all like her." Srinivas gently propelled him to a plank, on which he sat down. He observed from his wife's face that she was pleased with the compliment, and Srinivas felt that old man's coffee was now assured. His wife came out with a tumbler of water and two leaves and set them in front of them. She then served a couple of cakes on each leaf, and the old man rubbed his hands with the joy of anticipation.
At a signal from Srinivas, he fell to; and Srinivas wondered how long it was since the other had had any. "What do you eat at night?" he asked testingly. The old man tore off a piece of cake and stuffed it in his mouth and swallowed it before he answered, shaking his head: 'I'm not a youth. Time was when I used to take three meals a day - three full meals a day in addition to tiffin twice a day. Do you know
"That's remarkable." Agreed Srinivas admiringly. "But now what do you do?"
"I'm a sanyasi, my dear young man."
Question:
Why was the old man felt overjoyed on receiving the invitation?
Option 1: The old man was very hungry.
Option 2: The meal was prepared by an experienced cook.
Option 3: Srinivas would not have accepted no as an answer.
Option 4: A rich aroma of food was coming out of the kitchen.
Correct Answer: The old man was very hungry.
Solution : The correct answer is option 1.
Explanation:
The correct answer is that the old man was very hungry.
Let's look at the following passage lines:
"At a signal from Srinivas he fell to, and Srinivas wondered how long it was since the other had had any. "What do you eat at nights?" he asked testingly."
The expression on Srinivas' face suggests that the man was feeling very hungry.
As a result, it can be inferred that option 1 is the correct answer.
Question : The following sentence has been split into four segments. Identify the segment that contains a grammatical error.
Daniel sat on / his new bike / and went afar / a ride.
Option 1: a ride
Option 2: his new bike
Option 3: and went afar
Option 4: Daniel sat on
Correct Answer: and went afar
Solution : The correct choice is the third option.
The term afar means a great distance away, and it is not suitable for this construction. The correct preposition to use with went in this context is for. In this sentence, for expresses the purpose or intended result of the action, specifying that the purpose of Daniel's movement is to have a ride.
Therefore, the correct sentence would be: Daniels sat on his new bike and went for a ride.
