"Jag visste ingenting" is closest :-) All countries around the North Sea have a lot in common in their languages, probably because of the Vikings. According to a Scottish friend of mine, all animals that fitted their ships, have names that sound about the same in this area. He concluded that horses did NOT fit Viking ships - and I think he is right. Horses wouldn't have survived the crossing of the rough North Sea.

Removal?

Ludde, which articles are you talking about? Were the removed interwiki links correct? I have checked Quistnix's contributions Special:Contributions/Quistnix and there are few removals, mainly additions of links for which we are grateful. OK, here is one example where RobotQuistnix has removed an interwiki link to Danish Wikipedia, to an article that existed. [1] If there are many examples like this or just a couple, I don't know. There is a problem with the new software version of Wikipedia, causing bots to miss out articles on specific languages. Until this bug is fixed, I won't start my bot. MediaWiki 1.5 / 1.6 are generating problems. My robot settings have changed so it doesn't remove any interwiki at all, since the robot cannot see the difference between a non-existing page and a temporary blackout from the server now. Stopping RobotQuistnix on sv: ?

Some people are complaining about minor mistakes my robot is making with interwiki links (well, in fact, one person is). Since it is impossible to check each and every change my robot makes, I can do nothing but stop my robot from working on sv.wikipedia to please these people. Not my choice, but I don't want to frustrate anyone. So please tell me if I should stop, or continue the work of RobotQuistnix. Regarding Kategori:Gaffelsidor, maybe I should explain? It has been replaced by Kategori:Förgreningssidor. The content of the old category shrinks gradually, since the articles gets transferred to the new one when they are edited for one reason or another. When the category has shrunk some more, I guess we will have Grillbot to edit them and thus transfer them.

Having interlanguage links on it is not really a problem I guess, although it is better to have them on the new category which currently is above the old one in the category tree. I guess we can remove iw links from the page every now and then. However, why does you bot put it there? Can I change the interlanguage links on this category on some other pedias, and your bot will stop adding links to it? / Habj 20 december 2005 kl.02.15 (CET)

I've tried everything. The best thing to do is to make a redirect of it. I have absolutely no idea at all why my bot is changing the interwikilinks on it all the time. -- Quistnix 21 december 2005 kl.23.24 (CET)

But the redirect causes other problems - it makes the category more difficult to find, and it makes it impossible to browse through more than the 200 articles shown on the first page. The job was quite simple, provided the bot owner has the most recent version of the bot software. Unfortunately, the release versions are often extremely old. If you want to help, you can ask the developers to generate a new release version on their project page if the current release is older than a month or so. Not my bot, but the Wikipedia database server was making errors! One of the database servers crashed, but shortly before that, it deleted text that was being edited :-( This happened on es.wikipedia as well - Quistnix 10 mars 2006 kl.15.08 (CET)

language sorting

I just want to say that the swedish Wikipedia has no consensus about the sorting of language links. Some users prefer sorting by language name and some by lnaguage code. So both orders are correct and accepted.

That said, I am one of those who prefer sorting by language name, so I would be happy if you and other bot users sort that way. --82.212.68.183 11 mars 2006 kl.22.40 (CET)

There are three sorting orders written in the robot source code. Changing the sorting order is easy (just add sv: to one of the two lists), but I won't do it unless there is consensus on sv.wikipedia. The default sorting order is by language code. - Quistnix 12 mars 2006 kl.11.19 (CET)

Language similarity

Just a thought about language similarity and what was discussed at the top of the page concerning horses; In some swedish poetry, quite old, the word "hors" is used instead of "häst". Also, because of the strange sound it makes in mating season, the common snipe (sv enkelbeckasin, nl watersnip) was called "horsgök" (horse-cuckoo) in swedish folklore.--oskila 19 februari 2007 kl. 17.35 (CET)
